Walker Of The Worlds

Chapter 2637  Resilience Of Two Mad Forest Brothers

Large-scale beast waves didnʼt occur suddenly; instead, they took years to grow in intensity. Initially, there would be several smaller waves. Over time, these would escalate to mid-scale waves, and only after a few more years would they reach the magnitude of a large-scale beast wave.

This pattern had been well-documented, occurring consistently for tens of thousands of years.

The overlords of the region were aware of this cycle. After the last mid-scale beast wave, they anticipated that the time for a large-scale wave was approaching. These waves often lasted over a year and involved countless beasts wandering out of their native regions.

The weakest beasts were the first to leave their habitats, driven out by stronger beasts deeper within the forests. Ordinary soldiers could usually handle these initial threats, as they were Spirit Beasts rather than Immortal Beasts.

However, even a single Core Condensation Realm beast was capable of annihilating a city of mortals within minutes. For a pair of Body Tempering Realm brothers, facing such a creature was a death sentence. The brothers ran as fast as they could, but the beast easily caught up to them each time. Eventually, they realized that the beast was toying with them, relishing their helplessness.

Frustrated and humiliated, the brothers made a desperate decision. They lured the Core Condensation Realm beast into a forbidden region—a forest rumored to be haunted, where the voices of ghosts and spirits echoed at night. For mortals, entering this area meant certain death.

Determined to end the beastʼs life at the cost of their own, the brothers entered the forbidden forest. To their astonishment, the beast suddenly dropped dead upon entering the area, while they remained unharmed. They couldnʼt explain what had happened but saw it as an act of divine mercy. Grateful, they prayed to their ancestors and the gods.

With the beast now dead, the brothers claimed its body and core. They had no knowledge of cultivation realms beyond the Qi Refining Realm. All they knew was that consuming beasts could make them stronger, so they ate the beastʼs flesh and drank its blood.

For two Body Tempering Realm cultivators, this act was reckless. The immense energy from the beastʼs remains nearly killed them. Teetering on the brink of death, they experienced an out-of-body moment, as if their souls had left their bodies. In this ghostly state, they heard mysterious voices.

These voices whispered secrets of cultivation, filling their minds with techniques that could save their lives. When they awoke, they found themselves back in their bodies, stronger than ever.

Their cultivation had advanced to the Qi Refining Realm, and they now understood how to cultivate. With their newfound knowledge, they refined the Core Condensation Realm beastʼs corpse, rapidly advancing their strength. Within days, they reached the peak of the Qi Refining Realm.

To the Immortal Sects, such progress was unremarkable—a common occurrence among new disciples. But for the two brothers, it was nothing short of a miracle.

Empowered and confident, they returned to their duties, fighting beasts with renewed vigor. Qi Refining Realm beasts were no longer a challenge, and they set their sights on stronger prey. Eventually, they encountered another Core Condensation Realm beast. This time, armed with their skills and power, they defeated it on their own.

Their success fueled their ambition. They began hunting progressively stronger beasts, consuming their remains to bolster their cultivation.

One day, they encountered a beast far beyond their capabilities—a Dao Shell Realm beast. Even at the Core Condensation Realm, they were no match for such a creature. Remembering the miracle of the forbidden area, they devised a plan to lure the beast there.

Sure enough, the Dao Shell Realm beast dropped dead upon entering the forbidden region, allowing the brothers to harvest its body. Realizing the potential of this lethal trap, they began using the forbidden area to eliminate powerful beasts.

Over time, they refined and consumed numerous beasts, steadily advancing their cultivation. Eventually, they reached the Dao Shell Realm themselves. By the time the large-scale beast tide subsided, they had not only survived but also accumulated enough wealth to buy their way out of slavery.

Their parents were astonished by their transformation, unable to fathom how their sons had become so powerful. But the brothers, hardened by countless battles, remained composed. While their parents celebrated, the brothers understood that their strength was still insignificant compared to the Immortals they had glimpsed from afar.

They knew that what they had gained was not true peace but merely a brief respite. Determined to protect their family, they resolved to grow even stronger.

This time, they voluntarily enlisted in the army, taking on the dangerous role of patrolling the forests. They even accepted assignments near the forbidden area—a place most feared.

For the two brothers, however, the forbidden region was not a place of danger but a source of opportunity.

They repeated their methods of ʼharvestingʼ beasts and killed more and more beasts, obtaining their corpses. They sold some and consumed some, while buying alchemist pills to improve their cultivation in a more stable manner.

They also provided them to their parents, allowing them to grow stronger as well.

Over time, their visits to the forbidden area had become known to others. People considered them insane and soon the two became known as the Mad Forest Brothers. The two didnʼt care though, they only wished to grow stronger.

In the forbidden area, the voices continued to speak to them, guiding them on the path to cultivation. The two brothers were no longer the naive youngsters they were before, they were now in the Dao Treading Realm and had obtained quite a lot of knowledge of the cultivation world.

They had realized that the voices they heard werenʼt that of just any ghosts, but were actually from a Formation Array. The entire forbidden area was in reality an inheritance ground and tested everyone that entered it. Those that were unable to withstands its effects would find their souls ripped from their bodies.
