Chapter 2617  Life And Culture Of Demons

Lin Mu considered Karliaʼs words, the weight of their implications settling heavily in his mind. Her tone, though serious, carried an undercurrent of genuine concern.

”If you claim to have even a trace of demonic bloodline,” Karlia continued, her eyes locked on his, ”it will be enough to deflect suspicion. People will simply assume youʼre a human with dormant demonic heritage that you managed to awaken. There are already individuals like that in the Immortal Court, so no one will think twice about it.”

Lin Mu absorbed her advice, understanding the potential dangers. The delicate balance between truth and survival became even clearer. He nodded solemnly. ”I understand. Your insight is invaluable, Karlia. Iʼll take your advice to heart and tread carefully.”

Karliaʼs expression softened, her fiery demeanor easing into a more relaxed stance. ”Good. Keep the truth guarded, and youʼll be fine. Your secret is safe with me.”

A small smile tugged at Lin Muʼs lips. ”Thank you, Karlia. I appreciate your trust.”

She smirked, the tension of the moment easing into something lighter. ”Donʼt get too sentimental on me, Lin Mu. Just remember, you owe me a proper spar someday. I need to see the true extent of that transformation of yours.”

Lin Mu chuckled softly. ”Iʼll keep that in mind.”

Karliaʼs playful gaze turned mischievous as she narrowed her eyes. ”Hmm... Something tells me this isnʼt the first time youʼve used your Demonic Transformation, is it? And Iʼd bet it stirred up some trouble, didnʼt it?”

Lin Mu couldnʼt help but laugh, nodding in acknowledgment. ”It did... quite a bit, actually.”

”Thought so,” Karlia replied with a knowing grin. ”Now you know better. Especially on worlds like this, where demons have been vilified and practically erased from existence. Itʼs a precarious situation.”

”Indeed,” Lin Mu agreed, his tone measured as he filed her advice away for the future.

With the weighty matter settled, their conversation shifted to lighter topics. Lin Mu peppered Karlia with questions about demon culture, daily life, and traditions. He was eager to learn about the intricacies often glossed over in historical records.

Karlia, for her part, was pleasantly surprised by his curiosity. She willingly shared details, relishing the rare opportunity to discuss her people without judgment. The more they talked, the more Karlia recognized Lin Muʼs genuine thirst for knowledge.

”You know,” she interjected suddenly, a sly smile gracing her lips, ”you remind me of my husband. Maybe even surpass him in some ways.”

Lin Mu raised an eyebrow, intrigued. ”Oh? How so?”

Karlia leaned back, her eyes twinkling with a mix of nostalgia and admiration. ”Your curiosity, wit, and insatiable desire for knowledge are traits Iʼve only ever seen in him before. When Ziran first came to our tribe, he wasnʼt much to look at—just a half-elf slave captured during a skirmish. But he amazed me. He talked his way out of being a slave and rose to become my fatherʼs adviser.”

She chuckled, her tone lightening as she continued. ”He didnʼt just survive; he thrived. He adapted our traditions and doctrines in ways that made them even more effective. Even the stubborn shamans, who never budge on rules, respected his brilliance.”

Lin Mu nodded, beginning to understand her admiration. ”And you decided to marry him for that?”

”Exactly,” Karlia said, her smile softening. ”As a demon, I know our strengths and weaknesses. We excel in brute force and resilience, but we lack the finesse and cunning that Ziran brought to the table. I saw his value and decided I wanted him by my side. My children carry his wit, and some even surpass him in intelligence.”

Lin Mu considered her words carefully. ”But didnʼt others question your decision? The dilution of the demonic bloodline must have raised concerns.”

Karlia laughed, her tone rich with confidence. ”Of course, there were doubters. Demonic bloodline purity is a point of pride for many tribes. But when my children were born, their talents silenced every critic. They proved that strength comes in many forms. Now, there are even demonesses who seek partners from other races, hoping to achieve similar results. Youʼd be surprised at how many are willing to marry someone as clever and strong as Ziran.”

She smirked teasingly, her eyes glinting with mischief. ”In fact, if youʼre interested, I can introduce you to a few. With your vitality and vigor, taking in a hundred wives shouldnʼt be a problem.”

Lin Mu chuckled awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. ”Iʼll have to pass on that, Karlia. It seems everyone I meet has marriage on their mind for me.”

Karlia burst out laughing, the sound echoing through the space. ”Can you blame them? Youʼre quite the catch, Lin Mu.”

Lin Mu shook his head with a wry smile, silently wondering if heʼd ever escape such conversations.

He quickly changed the topic and brought up some other matters such as what other worlds were around Karliaʼs Demon world and what they were like. He asked for what their relation was like with the demon world as well as the influence of the Immortal Court and the Temple of the Guardian beasts on them.

He learned that most of the surrounding worlds didnʼt pry into their matters, though there were still a few organizations that couldnʼt bear having Demons living near their world.

There had been a few conflicts but due to the relatively good standing of the War Flame Demon tribe with the Immortal Court due to their ancestors actions, they were still considered under them and thus given protection.

If any other power attacked them without justification, the Immortal Court would actually take the side of the Demons.

”As for the Temple of the Guardian Beasts, there are a few of them on our world too. Though they are mostly left empty other than the Temple heads assigned there.” Karlia revealed.

”Are they humans?” Lin Mu asked.

”No, theyʼre demons of course.” Karlia answered. ”Though a few of them are Demonic Beasts to be exact.” She added.

”I see…” While Lin Mu knew that anyone could worship the guardian beasts, this was his first time getting a real time account of it from someone
