Chapter 2560  Rewarding Merits

The Immortal Paragon Ring had been something they all were shocked to discover in the list of rewards. With how high its value was to the Immortal Court, there was no way Crown Prince Feng Shun could leave it behind.

Their goal had been to return it, and now that the Immortal Courtʼs members were present, including several Hall Masters, they didnʼt have to make the long journey to the Immortal Court to accomplish this.

”Itʼll take some time for us to verify this through the original records, so you can leave it with me,” the Hall Master stated. ”You will, of course, receive merits for this and for the work youʼve done here,” he added.

”Thank you, Hall Master. But it wasnʼt just me. I couldnʼt have done this without my companions,” Crown Prince Feng Shun stated.

”Of course, they too will receive their due merits,” the Hall Master replied. ”And I hear you have more than just this to hand over?” he inquired.

”Yes.” Crown Prince Feng Shun said before taking out two jade slips. ”Please have a look at these.”

Lin Mu watched as the Hall Master took them and read through their contents. A minute later, the manʼs expression transformed into one of utter surprise as he stood up.

”You found two new fragments of the Grand Bagua Mythic Series!?” the Hall Master exclaimed.

”WHAT!?”

”The Grand Bagua Mythic Series!?”

”Not even one but two fragments at once!”

The other members of the Immortal Court present were equally astonished. Their reactions showcased the immense value and rarity of the technique.

”We were fortunate enough to obtain them as rewards,” Crown Prince Feng Shun stated. ”Iʼd like to contribute these to the Immortal Court.”

”Very well. Weʼll accept them. Since youʼre offering this, I take it you would like something of equal value in return?” the Hall Master asked.

”Indeed. Iʼd like another part of the Grand Bagua Mythic Series,” Crown Prince Feng Shun nodded.

”Weʼll grant you permission for that. You can head to the Immortal Court and collect it from the Treasured Library yourself,” the Hall Master allowed.

”Thank you, Hall Master,” Crown Prince Feng Shun said, cupping his hands.

As much as he would have liked to receive the techniques immediately, he knew that was not feasible. The Grand Bagua Mythic Series was far too valuable to be distributed lightly. To obtain it, one would need to personally visit the Treasured Library and learn it directly.

”The Treasured Library, huh…” Lin Mu mused. He had heard about it from his companions before. Supposedly, it was the largest library in the entire Immortal Realm.

The library had been established during the founding of the Immortal Court and contained a vast repository of knowledge about the realm. Its contents ranged from medicinal texts, history books, and cultivator memoirs to bestiaries, herbal compendiums, encyclopedias, cultivation manuals, techniques, and skill books.

The library was divided into numerous sections, each requiring specific permissions to access. Being a member of the Immortal Court allowed access to the basic techniques and records, but gaining access to more advanced texts required either an elevated rank or the payment of substantial merits.

The Treasured Library was considered the very foundation of the Immortal Court. Its wealth of knowledge enabled the nurturing of countless talents and cemented the Courtʼs preeminent status.

Lin Mu wished to visit the library himself, eager to see what treasures of knowledge it held. If it were possible, he would have liked to copy everything within it. But even he knew that such an endeavor would be nearly impossible. Moreover, the Immortal Court would never permit it, as it would be akin to stealing the cornerstone of their power.

Thus, the only way to learn there was to study the texts one by one.

Given the sheer volume of records, however, one could spend millennia and still barely scratch the surface. And the records continued to grow as new discoveries were made and more books were added over time.

Many scholars spent their entire lives in the library but never managed to read even half of its records. Even with the assistance of the massive formation array present, navigating and comprehending the vast trove of knowledge was a monumental task.

As the discussions continued and merits were distributed, Lin Mu too received his share, which was substantial.

”Daoist Lin Mu, we hereby grant you the Immortal Courtʼs Merit Plate,” the Hall Master said, presenting an eight-sided plate. It bore a resemblance to the octagonal Bagua, with motifs of the Guardian Beasts engraved on it. At its center was the crest of the Immortal Court.

”Thank you,” Lin Mu said as he accepted it from the Hall Master.

”Please brand it with your blood so that it will be bound to you,” the Hall Master instructed.

”Very well.” Lin Mu pricked his finger and allowed a drop of blood to fall onto the plate. The blood was quickly absorbed into the surface.

The formations on the plate lit up, and Lin Muʼs name appeared on its reverse side.

”You can use this Merit Plate to claim your rewards from the Immortal Court. Additionally… if you wish, we can offer you membership in the Immortal Court,” the Hall Master proposed.

”If I join, Iʼll be obligated to work for the Court, wonʼt I?” Lin Mu asked, already anticipating the answer.

”Responsibilities come with membership, naturally,” the Hall Master replied.

”Then I must decline, at least for now,” Lin Mu said, shaking his head. ”I donʼt wish to be tied down just yet.”

”Ah, I see. Thatʼs perfectly fine and understandable,” the Hall Master said, though a trace of disappointment flickered in his eyes. He had expected this response but still wanted to extend the offer.

In truth, the Immortal Court had already deliberated on offering Lin Mu membership. However, the Temple Head had advised them that Lin Mu was unlikely to accept. This left the Hall Master and the other elders puzzled, as joining the Immortal Court was considered one of the most enticing opportunities for any cultivator.
