Light Bringer: New World[LitRPG, Fantasy, a very crazy idea]

Their departure from the Acacias penthouse came at five in the morning, before delivery trucks began their early runs along the tree-lined avenue.

Dante pressed the spare cross-key into Nicole’s palm at the kitchen entrance, alongside a handwritten index of broadcast television channels and simple instructions on running the microwave without tripping the counter breaker.

The huntress sat on the soft leather sofa in gray sweatpants, bare feet resting on the deep-pile rug. She held the metal key gingerly, her four amber eyes tracking Maria as the tall girl adjusted the shoulder harness of a black canvas duffel.

”The deadbolt stays thrown from the inside with two full turns of the key,” Dante repeated the instructions, pulling the collar of his denim jacket straight. ”If the intercom buzzes, you ignore it. If the building staff drops mail through the slot, let the envelopes lie on the floor and make no sound near the door.”

Nicole gave a firm nod, her posture relaxed, devoid of her old trench-hardened suspicion.

”I’m not stupid, Dante,” she murmured, pulling the light blanket over her knees. ”I’ll sit right here watching the talking-car cartoons and eating the tub of ice cream. If anyone tries forcing this timber, I’ll drive a dagger through the jamb before the latch clears the plate.”

”Nobody is forcing anything,” Maria chuckled, scooping up the folder containing their emancipation decrees from the coffee table. ”Enjoy the air conditioning. We’ll be back tomorrow night with the deed to the farm.”

They pulled the solid wood door shut from the hallway, listening as Nicole threw the brass deadbolt from within, then took the service elevator down to the basement garage.

The rideshare cab Dante had booked from his phone waited by the curb outside the lobby.

The transit to Guarulhos International Airport took fifty minutes over clear asphalt beneath the dawn fog.

The terminal bureaucracy resolved without friction.

Dante and Maria presented their official national identity cards issued by the state public security bureau, backed by certified emancipation decrees validated in the civil registry.

To the airline counter agents and the federal security screeners at the x-ray line, they were merely two legal eighteen-year-olds flying north with carry-on luggage.

The only true trial of the flight was the Boeing 737 seating.

At six-foot-three and two hundred pounds of dense bone and compact muscle, Maria had to sit angled in the window seat, her kneecaps pressed hard against the molded plastic frame of the row ahead.

”This is worse than the ore gondola,” she grumbled through clenched teeth as the jet began its taxi run along the tarmac. ”On the iron gravel I could at least kick my boots out over the stone. This plastic is wedging my spine in two.”

”Flight to Rio Branco is four and a half hours,” Dante answered from the middle seat, his tablet running offline spreadsheets detailing construction estimates. ”The regional turboprop connection into Cruzeiro do Sul adds another fifty minutes. You have thirty-two Constitution, you can handle the posture.”

”Constitution doesn’t keep a kneecap from bruising against injection-molded plastic, bighead,” she countered, leaning her head back against the cold fuselage wall to sleep out the flight.

......

The turboprop touched down at Cruzeiro do Sul International Airport at twelve-forty local time.

The moment the aircraft door unsealed over the tarmac, the humid heat of the Amazon basin struck Dante’s face in a dense wave of damp soil and foliage baking under ninety-five-degree sunshine.

The municipal terminal in the Acre interior was modest, a single-story white masonry hall framed by native palms and an asphalt runway dead-ending against the dark waters of an expansive creek.

They claimed their carry-ons from the baggage carousel and walked into the arrival lobby.

A man in his early fifties wearing a light blue polo shirt and carrying a wooden clipboard waited near the glass exit doors, holding up a printed sign displaying the name Dante Miller.

”Mr. Dante?” The man stepped forward with an outstretched hand and an honest grip. ”I’m Valmir from Juruá Real Estate. We spoke through the app yesterday afternoon.”

”Good afternoon, Valmir,” Dante shook the broker’s hand, keeping his tone professional. ”This is Maria, my business partner.”

The broker took in Maria’s height, blinking once in surprise at the girl’s towering frame, then snapped right back into the commercial focus of an agent closing his easiest commission of the month.

”Mr. Raimundo is already waiting for us at the First Notary Registry downtown,” Valmir gestured toward a four-door pickup parked beneath the shaded awning. ”The notary already verified the draft deed and the farm’s tax clearance certificates. Everything is cleared for immediate recording.”

They climbed into the broker’s truck.

The drive into the city center took fifteen minutes along a wide, newly paved boulevard spanned by concrete bridges crossing tributaries of the Juruá River.

Cruzeiro do Sul was a tranquil town of low-slung, light-painted brick homes, its streets bustling with small motorcycles and four-wheel-drive pickups dusted in red clay from the unpaved highways.

The County Land and Title Registry occupied a renovated colonial townhouse fronting the main square, directly opposite the town’s stone cathedral.

The property owner was already seated on a wooden bench in the records corridor.

Mr. Raimundo was a man pushing sixty, his skin leathery from decades in the high pasture sun, his hands calloused from wrangling livestock, wearing a clean pair of pointed-toe leather boots freshly polished with paste.

He stood as the broker entered with the two youths, lifting his woven straw hat with respectful courtesy.

”Good afternoon, young folks,” the rancher extended a thick, work-roughened hand. ”Valmir told me you traveled all the way from São Paulo to buy the pasture up by the ridge.”

”Good afternoon, Mr. Raimundo,” Dante sat in the client chair facing the marble records counter. ”We came to execute the deed in full today.”

The deputy notary, a young clerk wearing tortoiseshell spectacles, retrieved the three bound copies of the Public Deed of Sale for Rural Real Estate.

The document ran six pages bound in official currency-grade watermarked paper:

Property: Sítio Três Meninas - Title Registry No. 14,820.

Total Area: 60 hectares and 4,200 square meters.

Location: Highway BR-364, km 14, Gleba Formosa, Municipality of Cruzeiro do Sul - AC.

Boundaries: Frontage bordered north by federal highway right-of-way, bordered south by the bed of the Igarapé Preto.

Transaction Consideration: R$ 380,000.00 (Three hundred and eighty thousand Brazilian reais).

Dante audited every line of the topographical survey with thirty-four Intelligence, checking the geodetic markers against the coordinates logged in his memory from the previous morning’s jump.

The boundaries aligned to the millimeter.

That specific parcel of land encompassed the exact spatial footprint of their Planar Transit terminus matching townhouse forty-two in the Capital.

”Documentation is immaculate,” Dante said, pulling his phone from his pocket.

Opening his brokerage banking application, he authorized the sale of a tranche of federal treasury notes via biometric clearance and executed an instant wire transfer directly into Mr. Raimundo’s checking account.

Three minutes later, the rancher’s phone buzzed on the counter with an SMS receipt confirming the incoming wire of three hundred and eighty thousand reais in full.

The old cattleman’s eyes widened in clear relief.

”The funds have cleared, sir,” the man signed the primary page of the deed with a blue ballpoint, sliding the folio over to Dante and Maria.

Dante applied his signature in his regular hand, pressing his inked thumb into the corner margin for fingerprint identification.

Maria drew the second ledger across with heavy hands, signing her name in thick, deliberate strokes that creased the heavy bond paper.

The notary applied the electronic validation seals, struck the court seal onto the registry leaves, and handed over the certified title deed registered under Dante Miller and Maria das Dores.

Mr. Raimundo reached deep into his denim pocket, withdrawing a heavy brass ring holding two long keys and a solid cast-iron combination padlock.

”The pasture gate is chained with this lock, young man,” the rancher handed the keys to Dante. ”The dirt is yours. Plenty of good standing timber, and clean water year-round in the creek. Put it to good use.”

”Thank you, Mr. Raimundo,” Dante sealed the keys and the deed into his waterproof folder.

......

By three in the afternoon, they rolled out of an equipment rental yard on the main avenue behind the wheel of a four-wheel-drive diesel pickup.

The bed was packed with hardware purchased from a farm supply co-op at the edge of town: two gas-powered chainsaws with twenty-inch guide bars, four carbon-steel machetes, three trenching shovels, three hundred feet of heavy black plastic tarp, two complete mechanic’s tool sets, and a five-kilowatt electric-start diesel generator.

Maria steered with one hand resting easy on the wheel, her left arm propped on the open sill, catching the humid forest wind against her skin.

The highway asphalt ran out at mile six, yielding to an unpaved road of hard-packed red clay bounded by dense walls of primary rain forest climbing toward the western ridge.

At mile nine on the dashboard odometer, Maria hit the brakes.

The pickup idled before the hardwood gate chained shut across the barbed-wire fence.

The rusted tin sign offering the land for sale remained tacked to the cedar post, but now the soil was legally their own.

Dante hopped down, worked the rancher’s brass key into the padlock, uncoiled the chain, and swung both wooden gates inward onto the parcel.

Maria drove the truck fifty yards into the red dirt clearing, parking under the canopy of three towering rubber trees that completely shielded the vehicle from passing traffic on the unpaved road.

The engine died, and the primeval silence of the Amazon basin settled over the clearing, broken only by the drone of canopy cicadas and the distant murmur of water cutting across gravel at the parcel’s southern boundary.

Dante stepped from the cab, walking to the geometric center of the clearing.

He looked down at the red earth, feeling the soft clay yield an inch beneath his boots.

Raising his right hand, the brass ring on his middle finger catching the unfiltered terrestrial sunlight, he called up the fourth tab of his interface.

Maria stepped down from the truck, planting both hands on her hips as she looked out over the one hundred and fifty acres of virgin forest legally recorded under their names.

”The dirt is ours, Dante,” she said with an easy grin, drawing the clean forest air deep into her chest. ”No Legion, no white-jacket butchers, and no prying landlords.”

”It’s ours,” Dante confirmed, locking the title deed inside the glove compartment. ”We’ll contract a crew to pour the concrete foundation and raise the masonry barn out here next week. Right now, we have to go fetch Nicole.”

He held out his right hand to Maria.

”Take hold. Let’s bring our huntress out to her new yard.”

Maria locked her heavy palm around his forearm in a solid grip, and the silent vacuum of the dimensional rift swallowed both of them in the heart of the Acre wilderness, launching them back through the foundations of the lower plane to fulfill the promise they had left locked on the top floor of the Acacias.
