Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year

A wave of relief suddenly washed over her.

’It’s better that he knows.’

’At least I don’t have to live in constant fear anymore.’

’He killed the original owner because she had designs on him and had done all sorts of terrible things. I’ve never tried to get him, nor have I done anything wrong. The worst he can feel toward me now is probably just disgust.’

’As long as I don’t cause trouble like the original owner did, he should spare my life.’

Evan Fairchild looked over at Melody Monroe. Her expression gave everything away.

’It seems this woman truly wants nothing to do with me.’

’But she not only stole my innocence, she also secretly gave birth to my son. Can I really just let all of this go?’

”Miss Monroe, do you know him?” Walter Miller asked Melody Monroe again for confirmation.

”I do. This is all a misunderstanding,” Melody Monroe explained hastily.

”Good. In that case, sir, you’re free to leave now,” Walter Miller said to Evan Fairchild. He then turned back to Melody Monroe. ”Miss Monroe, you still need to come with me and sign some papers.”

”Okay.” Holding Ian Monroe in her arms, Melody Monroe followed Walter Miller out.

After signing the papers, Melody Monroe carried Ian Monroe and headed outside.

By now, the sun had set and the sky was growing dim. Evan Fairchild was standing under a streetlight.

Melody Monroe saw his figure and stopped in her tracks.

Evan Fairchild looked up, his gaze landing on Melody Monroe.

Their eyes met. Melody Monroe took a deep breath and walked toward him. ’Time to face the music.’

Ian Monroe looked up at his mother, then at the figure in the distance.

”Mommy,” he whispered, his little face etched with worry.

Young as he was, he could already sense that something was wrong. The atmosphere made him instinctively uneasy.

”It’s okay,” Melody Monroe soothed him quietly as she approached Evan Fairchild. ”President Fairchild, I’m truly sorry about what happened today.”

”Is ’sorry’ supposed to be the end of it?” Evan Fairchild retorted. ’Does she really think she can pull a fast one on me?’

Ian Monroe suddenly struggled out of Melody Monroe’s arms, planted himself in front of his mother, and said menacingly, ”Don’t you dare bully my mommy!”

Evan Fairchild: ...

He irritably yanked his tie loose and glared at Ian Monroe. ’This little brat is giving me a headache!’

Although Ian Monroe was terrified of the man before him, he didn’t show the slightest hint of fear. ”This has nothing to do with my mommy! If you’re angry, take it out on me!”

Melody Monroe was stunned for a few seconds before snapping out of it. She quickly pulled Ian Monroe into her arms. ”Sweetie, you’ve misunderstood. President Fairchild is a good person. He’s not bullying Mommy.”

Evan Fairchild’s brow furrowed slightly.

’A good person?’

’Why doesn’t she just say that I’m the boy’s father?!’

Ian Monroe continued to stare at Evan Fairchild like a little wolf cub, not letting his guard down in the slightest.

”President Fairchild, it’s getting late. Let me take Ian home first. Can we schedule a time to talk about this properly?” Melody decided to tackle the issue head-on.

’She had to negotiate with Evan Fairchild.’

’Even though her chances of success were slim, she had to try.’

”We’re talking today!”

”It’s too late tonight. Besides, Ian has been here for nearly a whole day. He must be hungry. Can’t we find another time?”

”I’ve been here all day too! And I was in handcuffs the whole time! I’m hungry too!”

’How could this woman not show even a little concern for him?’

Melody Monroe was speechless. ’Why is Evan Fairchild acting like such an unreasonable child? He’s not even as mature as Ian.’

”President Fairchild, if you had just confirmed my identity, this whole misunderstanding could have been avoided.” ’Since he already knows everything, what’s there to be afraid of?’ Her tone hardened a bit.

”Yeah!” Ian Monroe immediately chimed in.
