Weaves of Ashes

Chapter 187: Chapter 182: The Creator’s Legacy

Location: Pavilion Medical Bay (Pocket Dimension - Lower Realm)

Time: Day 228/228 - 18 Voidmarch, 9938 AZI

Realm: Lower Realm (Pavilion - 10:1 Time Dilation)

Internal Transformation Time: Day 150 (inside cocoon)

Hour three hundred sixty-two of vigil, and Isha still couldn’t look away.

The cocoon dominated the medical bay—crystalline structure two meters tall, pulsing with rainbow iridescence that painted the silver walls in shifting colors. Inside, suspended in what looked like liquid light, Jayde’s unconscious form floated.

Fifteen days outside. One hundred fifty days inside the cocoon’s accelerated timeframe.

And the transformation was... beautiful. Terrifying. Unprecedented.

Isha’s translucent kitsune form drifted closer, golden eyes tracking essence flows that swirled through the crystalline shell. Red-gold Inferno threading through blue-silver Torrent. Emerald hints of dragon heritage weaving between strands of pure golden phoenix fire. And there—barely visible—black threads of Voidshadow essence, faint but present, impossible but real.

Rainbow essence. Five different types visible simultaneously when she should only have access to two.

Something about the pattern felt familiar.

Not recent memory. Deeper. Ancient. From the time before he became an artifact spirit, when he’d served—

Isha froze.

The pattern.

He’d seen this pattern before. Eons ago. When Pyratheon had been experimenting with essence fusion, trying to create something that could survive what was coming. The Luminari master had spent centuries researching bloodline integration, studying how different essences could coexist in a single being without destroying the host.

And this pattern—rainbow essence swirling in perfect harmony—matched those theoretical models exactly.

Isha’s ears flattened. His tail went rigid.

No. It couldn’t be.

But the more he studied the cocoon, the more certain he became. This wasn’t a random transformation. This was designed. Engineered. Built into Jayde at a fundamental level by someone who understood essence manipulation better than anyone currently living.

By someone like Pyratheon.

”I need the archives,” Isha murmured. ”Now.”

He closed his eyes. Dove into the Divine Tome’s vast knowledge repository that lived inside his consciousness. Searching. Filtering. Looking for specific files from the Age of Luminari, from Pyratheon’s personal research notes, from—

There.

[ACCESSING: PYRATHEON PERSONAL FILES - RESTRICTED]

[AUTHORIZATION: BONDED ARTIFACT SPIRIT - GRANTED]

[WARNING: KNOWLEDGE MAY CAUSE EXISTENTIAL DISTRESS]

Isha ignored the warning. Opened the file.

And understanding crashed down like an avalanche.

One hour later, Green found him still staring at the cocoon, expression shell-shocked.

”Isha?” Her emerald eyes swept the medical bay, checking monitoring formations by habit. Everything stable. Cocoon intact. Reiko’s crystalline scales shimmering nearby. Yinxin’s unconscious dragon form breathing steadily. ”What’s wrong?”

”Phoenix,” Isha said quietly. Voice distant. ”Tell me what you know about phoenix bloodlines.”

Green blinked at the non-sequitur. ”Ancient bloodline. Fire affinity, regeneration capabilities, cycle of rebirth. Extremely rare. Why?”

”Where did they come from?”

”What do you mean? They’re spirit beasts. They’ve always—”

”No.” Isha turned to face her. ”They haven’t. Phoenix aren’t a natural species, Green. They were created.”

Silence.

Green’s expression shifted from confusion to shock. ”Created? By whom?”

”Pyratheon.” Isha gestured to the cocoon. ”My former master. Luminari creator-god who specialized in essence manipulation and bloodline engineering. He made the phoenix race using his own divine essence as a template—fire, immortality, rebirth through flames. They were designed as immortal guardians, beings that could protect what he valued across infinite cycles.”

Green’s hand went to her throat. ”That’s—how do you know this?”

”Because I just read his research notes. Detailed files on phoenix creation process, stored in Divine Tome archives under highest restriction.” Isha’s voice carried the weight of terrible certainty. ”Phoenix carried Pyratheon’s essence. Every single one. They were not descended from some original species—they’re copies of his original creation, propagated across millennia.”

”But that would mean—” Green’s eyes went to Jayde’s cocoon. ”She carries creator-god essence?”

”Yes. Phoenix bloodline equals Pyratheon’s divine fire integrated at the cellular level.” Isha paused. Let that sink in. ”But that’s not all.”

He pulled up the second mental file. This one even more restricted.

”Dragon bloodlines, or should I say Silver Dragons specifically,” Isha continued. ”Also created. Not by Pyratheon—by Ala.”

Green went very still. ”The planet spirit.”

”Pyratheon’s lover. His partner. The being he trusted most in all of creation.” Isha’s tail lashed. ”Ala created silver dragons as Doha’s guardians—beings designed to regulate essence flow, maintain planetary balance, protect the world itself. Silver dragons carry Ala’s essence. Stability. Protection. Eternal guardianship.”

He turned back to the cocoon. To Jayde, floating inside rainbow light.

”She carries both,” Isha said softly. ”Phoenix bloodline from Pyratheon. Silver dragon bloodline from Ala. Two creator-god essences merged into a single mortal frame.”

The implications hung in the air like a sword about to drop.

”That’s impossible,” Green whispered. But her voice lacked conviction. ”Luminari essence shouldn’t be able to coexist. It’s too powerful. Too fundamentally different. The conflict would destroy—”

”Unless someone with god-tier knowledge engineered a solution,” Isha interrupted. ”Unless Pyratheon deliberately preserved both essences—his and Ala’s—and merged them into one soul specifically designed to contain that much power.”

Green sank into a nearby chair. ”The eight seals.”

”Exactly. Not punishment. Not restriction.” Isha’s voice gained certainty. ”Protection. Containment. Each seal holds back a portion of divine power that would otherwise burn through a mortal body like paper in a furnace. Pyratheon sealed her because unsealing everything at once would kill her instantly.”

”But why?” Green’s fractured emerald eyes searched his face. ”Why create a being with two creator-god bloodlines? Why merge Phoenix and Dragon? Why—”

”I don’t know.” The admission clearly frustrated him. ”Those files are corrupted. Damaged during the Cataclysm. I can see what he did, but not why. Just fragments. References to ’the coming darkness,’ ’failsafe against extinction,’ ’last hope if all else fails.’”

He gestured helplessly at the cocoon.

”But I know this: Jayde isn’t a random accident. She’s a deliberate creation. Engineered by Luminari at their peak, using knowledge that no longer exists, for a purpose we can only guess at.”

Silence fell. Both stared at the pulsing cocoon with new understanding.

”The cosmic pulse,” Green said finally. ”When her bloodlines awakened—”

”The universe recognized what she was,” Isha finished. ”First being to carry both Pyratheon and Ala’s essences since they were together. Physical manifestation of their union. Living proof that creator-gods once walked Doha.”

He paused. Watched the rainbow essence swirl.

”And that’s not even the strangest part.”

Isha pulled up monitoring formation data. Showed Green the Qi flow readings.

”Look at this. Fifteen days ago, Jayde’s cocoon was drawing five thousand units per hour from Pavilion reserves. Massive drain. Unsustainable long-term.”

Green leaned forward. Studied numbers. ”And now?”

”Now?” Isha highlighted current readings. ”Zero draw. Actually negative. They’re producing Qi instead of consuming it.”

Green’s eyes widened. ”That’s—”

”Impossible at Sparkforged tier? I know.” Isha pulled up additional data. ”But look closer. It’s not just Jayde. All three of them—Jayde, Reiko, Yinxin—they’re synchronized. Creating essence loop.”

He displayed visualization. Three pulsing forms connected by brilliant threads of light. Each pulse sent energy to the others. Each receiver amplified and purified the essence. Each return pulse was stronger, cleaner, and more potent than what was sent.

Perpetual amplification cycle.

”They’re feeding off each other,” Green breathed. ”Using bond connections as resonance channels. Jayde’s transformation triggers Reiko’s, which affects Yinxin’s, which loops back to strengthen Jayde’s. Over and over. Building power exponentially instead of linearly.”

”And purifying ambient Qi in the process.” Isha gestured to the spiritual crystals scattered around the medical bay. ”These were completely drained two weeks ago. Emergency reserves I’d emptied trying to keep the cocoon stable. Look at them now.”

Green picked up the nearest crystal. It blazed with pure white light. Completely full. Essence so concentrated it practically vibrated.

”This shouldn’t be possible,” she said. ”Sparkforged cultivators can’t generate essence this pure. This is Eternalpyre quality. Maybe higher.”

”I know.” Isha’s voice was quiet. ”Which means the transformation happening inside that cocoon isn’t a normal breakthrough. It’s fundamental reconstruction at a level that defies our understanding of cultivation itself.”

He materialized his physical form fully. Walked to the storage cabinet. Pulled out a crate containing exactly one thousand empty spiritual crystals.

”What are you doing?” Green asked.

”Following instinct.” Isha began arranging crystals in a precise pattern around all three transforming beings. ”I have a feeling they’re building toward something. Final transformation requiring massive energy reserve. If I’m right, these crystals will fill over the next day or two. Creating a stockpile for when she emerges.”

Green watched him work. ”And if you’re wrong?”

”Then I’ve wasted some empty crystals.” He shrugged. ”But Divine Tome archives have patterns. Records of similar transformations from the Age of Luminari. And every single one required catastrophic energy surge at the final stage—moment when new form stabilizes, when power locks into place, when metamorphosis completes.”

He finished placement. Stepped back. Already first few crystals were beginning to glow faintly.

”She’s going to need that energy,” Isha said with certainty. ”All of it. Because what’s coming isn’t just a breakthrough to a new tier. It’s an awakening of creator-god heritage that’s been dormant for fifteen years.”

Hours passed.

Isha stood vigil while Green updated medical charts. Crystals filled slowly but steadily—pure white light spreading through the array like stars igniting across the night sky.

The kitsune’s mind churned through implications.

Jayde carried Pyratheon’s essence. His former master’s divine fire, encoded at the genetic level, waiting to fully manifest. And she carried Ala’s essence—planetary spirit’s stability, protection, guardianship integrated into her very bones.

Two creator-gods. Two purposes. Two kinds of power that shouldn’t coexist but somehow did.

Because Pyratheon had an engineered solution. Had spent how long—decades? Centuries?—figuring out how to merge incompatible essences into stable form. Had succeeded where everyone else failed.

And then sealed the result behind eight layers of protection.

Why?

What was coming that required being with two creator-god bloodlines? What threat justified creating a failsafe this extreme?

The corrupted files offered no answers. Just fragments:

”...darkness grows beyond anything we faced before...”

”...Zartonesh are merely symptoms, not disease itself...”

”...if we fall, she must survive. Last hope. Final guardian...”

Final guardian of what?

”Isha.” Green’s voice interrupted his spiraling thoughts. ”The cocoon. It’s changing.”

He spun. Focused.

The rainbow essence was swirling faster. Tighter. Condensing into patterns that looked almost like... writing? Symbols? Ancient script that predated modern languages by millennia.

Luminari script.

Isha’s breath caught. He could read it. One of the few beings left alive who could decipher creator-god language.

The symbols said: INTEGRATION 80% COMPLETE

”Eighty percent,” he breathed. ”She’s almost done.”

”How long?” Green moved closer to the cocoon. ”Until emergence?”

”Based on progression rate...” Isha calculated quickly. ”One to two days. Outside time. Ten to twenty days for her inside the accelerated timeframe.”

Ten to twenty days for Jayde to complete the transformation that was rewriting her at the cellular level. That was integrating two creator-god bloodlines into a stable form. That was unlocking power that could reshape Doha’s future.

If she survived.

”We need to talk,” Isha said abruptly. Turned to face Green fully. ”Really talk. About what this means. What she’s going to face when she wakes up.”

Green met his eyes. Nodded slowly.

”Agreed. Because I have questions. A lot of questions.” She gestured at the cocoon. ”And most importantly—how do we tell a fifteen-year-old girl that she’s the physical manifestation of two creator-gods’ union? That she carries divine essence in a mortal frame? That every ancient race will sense what she is the moment she emerges?”

”Carefully,” Isha said. ”Very carefully.”

He looked at the cocoon. At Jayde, floating inside, unconscious, transforming into something unprecedented.

”But first,” he continued quietly, ”I need to search the ancient library. See if there’s any way to suppress or disguise the Luminari essence signature. Because when she emerges, if we can’t hide what she is...”

”Every faction in three realms will want to control or kill her,” Green finished grimly.

”Yes.” Isha’s tail lashed. ”Creator-god bloodlines. Divine power in mortal frame. Some will worship her. Some will fear her. Some will hunt her specifically to harvest that power for themselves.”

Silence.

Both stared at the cocoon pulsing with rainbow light. At the girl inside who carried the weight of divine heritage without knowing it. Who would wake to find herself at the center of conflicts spanning the entire world.

Fifteen years old.

Just a child.

And they had maybe twenty days to figure out how to protect her from what was coming.

”When she awakes,” Isha said finally. ”We tell her everything. No more secrets about heritage. She deserves truth.”

”Agreed.” Green’s voice was firm. ”She’s earned that much.”

Isha nodded. Began drifting toward the medical bay exit.

”Where are you going?” Green called.

”Ancient library. Pavilion has scrolls that haven’t been integrated into the database yet. Old techniques, forgotten formations, suppression methods from the Age of Luminari.” He glanced back. ”If a solution exists, it’s there. And we’re going to need it.”

He vanished through the doorway. Left Green alone with three transforming beings, one thousand slowly filling crystals, and the weight of terrible knowledge.

Jayde wasn’t just a gifted child with unusual bloodlines.

She was the living legacy of creator-gods. Physical manifestation of Pyratheon and Ala’s love—an infant goddess herself.

And when the world learned what she was, nothing would ever be the same.
