Hogwarts: Even Voldemort Can't Stop Me From Studying

Chapter 270: Chapter 149: The Scenery of the Owlery

Vid didn’t really have any important secret tasks to do, but since the work was already completed, he just wanted to have some quiet time alone.

He had spent so much time spearheading the launch of this magic version of the television, and he understood better than anyone how vast the prospects of the Flow Mirror were.

Bear in mind, even Muggle television stations still haven’t started broadcasting in high-definition television yet!

The Flow Mirror not only offers clear images and surround sound, but it can also be magnified or shrunk to fit into one’s pocket and carried away—of course, the size change can only be achieved by wizards who have mastered the relevant spells.

Machioni saw a business opportunity in the Flow Mirror, the Weasley Brothers saw alchemy techniques, the audience saw unprecedented entertainment, and contestants probably saw their brief downfall in the future from it.

But Vid knew that from now on, the public opinion battlefield in the Magic World would be split in half by the Flow Mirror... perhaps even more than half.

Don’t assume that the Prophet Daily often mocks the Ministry of Magic and ridicules government officials.

But once things get serious, they are entirely the mouthpiece of the Ministry of Magic, shamelessly charging forward for Fudge.

They can characterize the respected old headmaster as a sinister old lunatic; they can describe the underage Savior as a vain, arrogant little liar; and they can fabricate facts and weave lies to make the dark forces look like they are not a threat.

However, when the Flow Mirror becomes widely popular, the status of the Prophet Daily will definitely face huge challenges, and it might become uncertain if anyone would even read newspapers anymore.

By then, public opinion will have a new helmsman.

And the masses are always foolish, easily deceived and swayed.

Vid didn’t know if Dumbledore foresaw such a future, but he said nothing.

...

Vid avoided the crowd and came to the owl shed.

The environment here wasn’t too good, but it had a nice view of most of the maze, offering an expansive and quiet viewpoint.

Most of the owls perched on the racks, half-awake.

Some lay flat, both eyes closed, with their furry, long, thick legs stretched out straight, sleeping as if dead.

Some owls were stirred by the footsteps, opened their eyes in curiosity to look at him, their eyes following Vid’s figure for a while, seeing he didn’t offer any treats, they ignored him.

Vid suddenly noticed an owl with a bald spot on the back of its head, he walked over and touched it, trying not to laugh.

The owl tilted its head in confusion at him, making a ”coo-coo” noise from its throat, but didn’t dodge, nor did it peck at his hand.

It seemed very tame.

Not at all how it looks at night when it fights.

Vid amused himself for a while, then went to the platform on top of the shed and unexpectedly found someone already sitting there.

”—Professor?”

Vid said in surprise.

The person sitting there turned out to be Professor Morry, who seldom visited the school.

”Oh—Vid.”

Professor Morry turned back, smiled, and said:

”Looks like you found this secret spot too—the view is quite nice, isn’t it?”

”Of course.”

Vid was puzzled, thought for a bit, and directly asked:

”Professor, weren’t you supposed to attend the European Alchemist Federation’s banquet?”

This was a pre-scheduled event set more than half a year in advance, Professor Morry was supposed to leave for Luxembourg yesterday afternoon.

For this, they even postponed an Alchemy class.

Professor Morry helplessly spread his hands and said:

”The banquet had barely started when the hosts began to fight with the guests, and there was even an embarrassing individual who managed to make his pants disappear... Knowing today was your Flow Mirror debut day, I thought about it and used a Portkey to come back.”

”Then why didn’t you go downstairs? It doesn’t smell great here anyway.”

Professor Morry’s expression slightly changed, and he hurriedly said:

”Don’t tell Dumbledore I’ve come back, otherwise he will definitely send me to do some work! Look at your poor headmaster, see how busy he is!”

In the distant maze, Professor Flitwick was flying near the walls on a broomstick, probably very rusty from not riding a flying broomstick for a long time as his movements were somewhat awkward.

As Professor McGonagall maintained order outside the maze, Professor Flitwick inside used magic to toss out students who fell into traps, students chased into desperation by magical creatures, and students who had already been captured as trophies.

The professor, whose stature was similar to a child’s, was overly busy yet not daring to relax for a moment.

Of course, Professor Sprout, Professor Snape, Madam Hooch, Madam Pomfrey, and others were all busy working, not to mention Filch and Hagrid.

Probably only Professor Trelawney from Divination Class could sit steadily on her chair, leisurely watching the challenge show, laughing so much she was on the verge of tears.

But it’s not because Dumbledore particularly favored her, it’s that even the trusting Dumbledore dared not assign her any difficult or important tasks.

Vid twirled his magic wand, a small whirlwind rose out of nowhere, sweeping away the dirt from the balcony outside the shed.

Professor Morry also lifted his leg, letting the dust roll across the floor with the wind.

Afterward, Vid sat beside him, apologetically saying, ”Sorry, Professor... I think I’ve caused you quite a bit of trouble.”

Professor Morry laughed, ”How can this be considered trouble?”

”Seeing the students at the school bursting with energy that hasn’t been seen in a thousand years, happily learning to use magic in their play, this sight is better than anything.”

”I guess McGonagall and the others think the same way, that’s why no one ever blamed you for it, right?”

”—Seems so.”

Vid was silent for a while, then smiled and said, ”Meeting good teachers like you and Professor McGonagall is also a blessing for us students, I will never forget the help the professors gave me at school.”

He reminisced and said, ”Back in my first year, when I got injured using the wrong spell, if Professor you hadn’t found me, I might have died.”

Professor Morry recalled for a moment, then said confusedly:

”Didn’t you have a fever then? And got injured? What spell did you use incorrectly?”

Vid blinked, making eye contact with the white-haired professor.

After a moment, he realized, ”Ah... I seem to have mixed things up.”

”How can you mix that up?” Professor Morry shook his head helplessly and said, ”You’ve never mixed up an ancient magical rune pronunciation or symbol.”

”Because my mind is occupied with more important things, so it’s easy for other matters to get muddled.”

Vid explained, pulling his ready panoramic telescope from his pocket and duplicating one to hand to Professor Morry.

”Use this to watch! You can zoom in and out and can replay and pause to see everything clearly!”

”Thank you.”

Professor Morry laughed, accepted the telescope without further thought.

Vid watched this scene, until Professor Morry began using the telescope to observe the maze, Vid raised his own telescope as well.

On the screen, Harry and Michael and others were just entering the maze.
