Hogwarts: Even Voldemort Can't Stop Me From Studying

Chapter 266: Chapter 145: Television in the Magic World

”Two-Sided Mirror trial?” Leian recalled for a moment: ”I remember Fred mentioned that the Two-Sided Mirror you made this time broadcasts a one-to-many image?”

”Yes, exactly,” Vid explained, ”It’s like a Muggle television program. One Mother Mirror acts as the TV station, and there are numerous Sub-Mirrors that serve as TVs.”

”So will all the wizards in the United Kingdom be able to see our match?”

Leian suddenly felt immense pressure, his eyes uneasily glancing at Harry and the others as they discussed the preparations for the match.

Everyone is so looking forward to it and has prepared for so long. If I said I wanted to back out... wouldn’t it be unethical?

Vid laughed, ”If all goes well, in the future, wizards all over the world should be able to see the same images. But for now, the Sub-Mirrors are only being tested by the employees of Aslan Magic Workshop... Of course, Remus and Sirius can also see it.”

Leian secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Great, he didn’t have to struggle between friendship and his true feelings.

Although there would still be some additional viewers, compared to all the wizards in the United Kingdom, Leian found it acceptable.

With the worry gone, his curiosity started to take over.

”So will the Sub-Mirrors be sold in shops like TVs in the future?”

”Of course,” Vid said.

”So we can see Setina singing in them, and also...”

He recalled television programs he had seen before.

”Can we see Mr. Bean going to the dentist?”

”That’s a TV show, which is pieced together, scripted scenes that are filmed and edited, but the Two-Sided Mirror can only broadcast live, transmitting everything happening in front of the Mother Mirror to all Sub-Mirrors in real-time.”

Leian listened and understood partially.

Vid was actually more surprised.

Because he knew Leian’s grandmother was a Muggle, his father a half-blood wizard, their family had quite a few Muggle relatives. Yet Leian’s understanding of Muggles was about on par with the Weasley family’s ”Muggle enthusiasts.”

Knowing a little about the surface, but not really understanding it deeply.

So Vid explained the difference again in a more straightforward manner.

Then he added, ”Of course, there aren’t many activities like challenges that are suitable for broadcasting. So I thought of using the Mother Mirror to broadcast Muggle TV shows, so that electronic signals wouldn’t be affected by magical fields.”

The most wonderful thing is, they could choose from TV programs all over the world at will, without paying for the broadcasts.

This could also help the Magic World better understand ordinary people’s lives, avoiding situations where despite being neighbors, they don’t know the difference between pajamas and formal suits, leading to embarrassing situations.

—— This was the reason Vid used to persuade Dumbledore to allow him to conduct this experiment.

Though he felt if he had asked directly, the Headmaster probably wouldn’t refuse. But certain habits inherited through genetics made Vid subconsciously use a more legitimate and grand-sounding reason.

”Then I must buy a Sub-Mirror. During the summer vacation, remember to broadcast Mr. Bean!” Leian said expectantly, ”I watched two episodes at my uncle’s place before, but I never had the chance to finish.”

”Of course, we’ll definitely introduce all sorts of excellent Muggle TV shows.”

Vid suddenly realized his explanation was too ”official,” probably because he was used to saying such things when communicating with Mr. Machioni, and hadn’t adjusted back yet.

He cleared his throat, ”I’ll let you know in advance... How about two episodes a day?”

Leian thought for a moment, ”Actually... I can watch from morning until night.”

He blinked at Vid, the meaning was quite clear.

Vid laughed heartily, ”Alright! Then we’ll stop when you’ve had enough. We can even replay it two or three times... I’m sure many people will enjoy it.”

Wizard entertainment options were actually quite limited.

Though Vid found magic to be the most fascinating thing in the world, for most wizards, this innate power was just like air.

—— Very necessary, but not something that brings particular joy.

A Magic Radio was the primary source of leisure for many families.

Vid could almost envision the scene of their Two-Sided Mirror becoming a hit after its release.

Theo, who had been quietly listening on the side for who knows how long, suddenly said, ”In that case, the name ’Two-Sided Mirror’ might be a bit inappropriate. Perhaps you should give it a unique name.”

Vid thought for a moment, ”How about ’Flow Mirror’? After all, it could be considered as streaming media technology.”

Unfortunately, no one present understood what ”streaming media” was, and Theo and Leian both showed puzzled yet polite smiles.

”Sounds good,” they said.

Time flew by, and many students felt as if they’d just hurriedly put their teams together, and mid-May had already arrived.

During this time, Vid and the Weasley Twins also made time to go to Hogsmeade to discuss with Machioni once again the details of the first broadcast for the ”Flow Mirror.”

Machioni sent out dozens of employees, carrying Sub-Mirrors of various sizes, to different locations in the United Kingdom and nearby countries to test the broadcast performance.

In Lupin’s living room, Vid also formally signed a contract with the Weasley Twins.

”If the income is good, just give us a share,”

George, who had just started making money doing business at school, was a bit embarrassed. He scratched his face, ”The Flow Mirror was mostly your idea, and without your alchemy technique, we wouldn’t have been able to complete it.”

”We’re friends, no need to be overly concerned with these things,” Fred also said, ”Besides, completing this creation is the biggest reward for me!”

Before Vid could say anything, Mr. Machioni laughed beside them.

”Precisely because you are friends, you should establish clear principles from the start, to avoid potential conflicts in the future.”

He looked at the two promising future Alchemists, and said gently:

”You put in the effort, and you deserve to be rewarded. Because your contributions, no matter how small, are part of the success. If there is only effort and no reward, the result is bound to lead everything to ruin, including your current friendship.”

The twin brothers exchanged glances, not quite believing that they would change in the future, but finding his words surprisingly convincing.

Mr. Machioni smiled, ”Of course, this is just advice from an elder—I’ve seen too many similar situations, so I can’t help but warn you a little. Ultimately, how you proceed is up to you to decide.”

The twins looked at Vid, only to see him nod along, his eyes full of sincerity and seriousness.

Quite strange.

Even though he was younger, he seemed like an elder, naturally inspiring trust.

The twins picked up their Quills.
