He Traded the System for My Rebirth, and I Led Him Across the Apocalypse

81: Good news keeps comingNot long after Xie Ziyu’s full moon celebration, Lin Wan discovered she was pregnant.

The way it happened was this: one morning, Lin Wan suddenly realized her period was over half a month late again.

Her cycle had actually never been very regular, and she had already had a check-up that showed no major issues, so she hadn’t paid much attention.

Last night, Shen Mo Chi had kept her up half the night. Finally, he whispered next to her ear,

”Wanwan, let’s have a baby that belongs only to us, okay?”

Recalling his assertive and domineering manner from yesterday, Lin Wan’s face flushed slightly.

Looking at his handsome, sleeping face, her heart stirred.

It had already been six years in the Apocalypse, and she was 32 this year.

It was indeed time to have a child. She had watched Yue Yue’s belly grow day by day, and Xie Ziyu had grown from a tiny sprout into a cute little one with arms and legs. Lin Wan had witnessed his growth and birth.

She had actually longed for a child of her own with Shen Mo Chi, so they had stopped deliberately preventing conception three months ago.

Half a month late... Perhaps, she really was pregnant?

After thinking it over, she quietly slipped out of bed and went to the bathroom, taking out a pregnancy test stick from her spatial storage.

When she saw the two red lines appear in one second, her eyes widened slightly.

Her heart beat a little fast; she was certain it was due to happiness, mixed with a small amount of excitement.

Fearing she had made a mistake, she took out three more and tested three more times.

All showed two distinct red lines.

Lin Wan couldn’t help but smile, gently touching her flat lower abdomen.

She had Mo Chi’s baby inside her belly, a new life—a testament to their love and the continuation of their lives.

In her previous life, he had traded his life for hers. In this life, she wanted to give him everything he desired. Considering that neither of their families had been perfect, they would create a happy little family of their own.

They definitely would not repeat the mistakes of the previous lifetime.

”Baby, why is the door locked??”

When Shen Mo Chi woke up and found her gone, he came looking for her in the brightly lit bathroom.

He twisted the doorknob but found the door was locked from the inside.

Only when the two of them were home together did they never lock the bathroom door.

”Baby?”

Lin Wan calmed her emotions and went to open the door.

As soon as the door opened, Shen Mo Chi wrapped his arms around her slender waist and pulled her close.

”Baby, what were you doing?”

Lin Wan’s eyes were full of smiles, and her lips curved upward broadly.

”Guess...”

Shen Mo Chi looked at her sly expression. Her bright, large eyes, even without makeup, were beautiful enough to stir his heart.

”Darling, you look like such a little fox, it’s too tempting. Let me kiss you first before I guess.”

Shen Mo Chi tilted his head to kiss her, his suggestive voice intoxicating.

As they kissed, his large hand slipped inside Lin Wan’s nightgown, resting hotly on her full curves.

Then, his long fingers explored downwards.

Lin Wan felt weak all over from the teasing, but she maintained her composure and caught Shen Mo Chi’s hand.

”Husband, no.”

Shen Mo Chi held her close.

”What’s wrong? Baby?”

A distinct sense of abnormality came over her, and Lin Wan couldn’t help but let out a soft sound.

”Husband, stop. I have something to tell you.”

Shen Mo Chi paused, withdrew his hand, his eyes filled with desire, and he looked at her seriously.

”Mm, Baby, you tell me.”

Lin Wan wrapped both arms around his neck.

She stood on her tiptoes and whispered in his ear. Shen Mo Chi cooperatively lowered his head.

”Shen Mo Chi, you’re going to be a father.”

Shen Mo Chi froze, looking at her in disbelief, his eyes sparking with fragmented joy.

”Wanwan... What did you say? Really? You’re pregnant? We’re having a baby?”

Lin Wan couldn’t help but laugh, her voice sweet.

”Yes, you heard correctly. You’re going to be a father, and I’m going to be a mother.”

Shen Mo Chi looked at her stomach in astonishment, then swept her up into his arms and placed her on the sofa.

”From today onward, just be good and focus on nurturing the baby. Don’t worry about anything. Let Ji Chuan and I handle the base matters.”

Lin Wan yielded to his arrangements.

”Okay, I’ll listen to you for everything.”

...

After going to the hospital for a confirmation check-up, Shen Mo Chi proudly went before Ji Chuan and ’casually’ let slip the news that he was about to become a father.

Soon, this good news spread throughout the base. Director Zhang immediately dispatched people to send over a large quantity of nutritional supplements and baby supplies.

He also sent a message to Lin Wan.

”I know you’re not lacking, but these are all newly developed by us based on the physical constitutions of people in the Apocalypse. They are more effective than older products. Eat them well to nourish your body. This is also the sentiment from Capital City.”

After listening to the voice message, Lin Wan exchanged a knowing smile with Shen Mo Chi.

”Received! Thank you for your concern, Leader. But you also need to take care of your health; you can’t stay up all night every day.”

”It’s fine, I’m perfectly healthy. I guarantee I’ll live to see your and Mo Chi’s baby grow up.”
