He Traded the System for My Rebirth, and I Led Him Across the Apocalypse

67: traitor?Lin Wan and Shen Mo Chi were flying straight ahead in the top-level military helicopter they had ’borrowed’ from Country M last time.

If everything went smoothly, it would take about ten hours to reach Country M.

In the pitch-black night sky, besides them, there were only some mutated flying animals that occasionally appeared.

The two accompanied each other, coordinating perfectly, and made it through the journey peacefully.

So, the initial part of the journey was relatively smooth.

But as they were about to approach the airspace of Country M, the number of helicopters and Ability Users in the air clearly increased.

Lin Wan sensed it from afar. She released her wide-range mental power, continuing to perceive everything around them.

”Mo Chi, slow down a bit.”

Shen Mo Chi slowed down. With a thought from Lin Wan, she released a mutated eagle and a vulture from her space—both ferocious Level 7 creatures.

Before the Apocalypse, they were already birds of prey in the sky. Now, after mutation, their bodies were more than ten times larger than before, making their combat power explosive!

Compared to their huge bodies, even the usually powerful helicopter instantly looked tiny and fragile.

Lin Wan blew a whistle, and they flapped their wings, charging straight into the opposing formation, easily knocking down the two helicopters at the front.

These two were hard-won acquisitions for the Official Base.

Of course, the mutated animals Director Zhang allowed Lin Wan and the others to bring along were never weaklings.

”Heavens! Alert!”

”Where did these come from? We eliminated all the mutated animals in this vicinity. How can there suddenly be such large mutated eagles and vultures?”

Caught off guard by the attack, they quickly retreated from the mutated eagle after reacting and released fireballs to attack.

Some people frantically shot at them with sniper rifles.

But their thick fur was like an impenetrable fortress, and they weren’t ordinary mutated animals; they were Level 7.

Thus, not only were they unharmed, but the two creatures were completely enraged.

They swooped towards the enemy, their iron-hard talons tearing through the bulletproof glass and snatching people out to throw them down.

This brutal scene made the remaining people hide far away and use their abilities, but at such a distance, the effect was greatly diminished, only consuming energy while barely scratching them.

Someone blew a whistle, and a vulture, whose body had also expanded several times, led a swarm of mutated crows flying over, instantly blotting out the sky.

This made the already dim night sky even darker.

It was at this moment that Shen Mo Chi, without anyone noticing, piloted the helicopter to blend into their formation.

He positioned the helicopter at the rear, while Lin Wan quietly released the natural predator of sparrows: magpies.

Even though they were mutated, this basic instinct would not change.

The dozen or so magpies shrieked and charged forward. In just over ten minutes, the dozens of large sparrows were almost completely wiped out.

The mutated eagle and vulture beat the vulture without any chance to fight back.

The magpies also continued to attack the aerial formation. Amidst the chaos, who would notice an extra helicopter in their ranks?

Just like that, while the front line was locked in a fierce battle, using the massive bodies of the eagle and vulture as cover in the darkness, Shen Mo Chi successfully flew the helicopter into the territory of Country M and found an open, secluded spot to land.

Before landing, seeing that the fight was almost over, Lin Wan blew a melodious whistle, summoning the eagle, vulture, and magpies back and putting them into her space.

The four or five survivors in the air were completely bewildered, not understanding where the mutated animals that came and left so quickly originated from.

They hurriedly reported the situation back to their superiors.

After landing, Lin Wan immediately stored the helicopter away.

She began trying to contact people back home using the method on the list.

They quietly drove an ordinary, even somewhat dilapidated, Country M plated SUV toward the rendezvous point.

Lin Wan observed her surroundings, her brow deeply furrowed.

”Mo Chi, have you noticed that there are far fewer zombies here? It looks like fewer than in our Huaxia.”

Shen Mo Chi nodded.

”Indeed. I suspect they have already developed the corresponding serum, or perhaps they already had a countermeasure when they were preparing that underwater zombie base.”

”Mmm, I thought so too. The sooner we get Yi Nian’s virus cure, the better. If we find this Dark Night Squad, maybe they know about the serum. That way, we can save a lot of time.”

”They have been lurking here for a long time; they should know some clues.”

The two arrived at a designated dilapidated villa, only to find it completely dark inside.

”Something’s wrong. Did something happen to them? Besides, I can’t sense anything. The leader said they are all Ability Users of no low rank.”

Shen Mo Chi looked at the overly quiet environment around them.

”There aren’t even any zombies here. Wanwan, don’t send a signal yet. Teacher said it’s been two or three months since they last contacted us. We need to be cautious.”

”Mo Chi, you forgot. We have space.”

Shen Mo Chi looked at her and instantly understood what she meant.

He fired the signal flare he was holding into the air, and Lin Wan pulled him into the space with her.

The two listened quietly to the commotion outside.

Sure enough, after a minute or two, a sound of footsteps began to echo.

There were quite a few people.

”Huh? Why is no one here? The signal flare was just fired right here! Could that person from Huaxia be lying to us?”

”Impossible! Maybe it’s those three partners from their team who ran away?”

”Mmm, let’s just guard the vicinity! There must be something fishy going on!”

Lin Wan’s heart skipped a beat.

”Mo Chi, this... someone actually betrayed us!”

Shen Mo Chi also looked grim.

”No wonder no news has been sent back for so long!”

They stayed in the space for eight or nine hours before hearing the people leave, having found nothing and thinking they had made a mistake.

Lin Wan checked; it was already nine in the morning.

Just as they were about to go out, they heard more people approaching.

Lin Wan and Shen Mo Chi remained still.

”Really no one? But only Elder Zhang knows about this signal!”

”Yeah, I thought someone from the country had arrived! I was happy for nothing!”

”Security is so tight now. Unless someone has earth-shattering abilities, who would easily come here? Those traitors, Zhou Feng and the others, will surely meet a terrible end sooner or later!”

”Captain, maybe we should leave first. Those people might come again.”

”Mmm, we have no choice but to do that.”

The three were sneakily about to leave when they turned around and found two figures appearing in front of them.

Even though the three were battle-hardened veterans, they were scared half to death!

Song Jian looked vigilantly at the two people with Eastern features.

”Who are you?”
