He Traded the System for My Rebirth, and I Led Him Across the Apocalypse

80: Full Moon CelebrationThe hospital was divided into two areas: the Ability User Area and the Ordinary Person Area.

They went to a top-tier private room in the obstetrics and gynecology department of the Ability User Area, where a line of doctors was already waiting.

Fetal heart monitoring, internal examination, and B-ultrasound.

”The baby is completely normal, the mother is completely normal, she’s three fingers dilated. Relax, this is your first time giving birth, it probably won’t be that fast.”

Ji Chuan watched Xia Yue frown, feeling extremely heartbroken.

”Okay, then let’s quickly administer the epidural.”

It was only at this moment that Xia Yue became nervous, as the increasingly frequent and intensifying pain surged over her like a tide.

After getting the epidural, she immediately felt comfortable.

She lay leisurely on the bed, eating the nutritional supplements Ji Chuan handed her, and even scolded him a little irritably.

Ji Chuan grinned sheepishly, letting her speak.

Lin Wan and the others stayed with her, chatting happily while awaiting the arrival of this little life.

By six in the evening, she was eight fingers dilated and was taken into the delivery room.

Several people waited for her outside.

Ji Chuan couldn’t sit still at all; one moment he was pressing his ear against the door to listen, the next he was trying to see something through the crack in the door.

Lin Wan was also a bit nervous, praying that mother and son would have a smooth and safe delivery.

Shen Mo Chi saw the other man pacing restlessly and went over to keep him company.

Yi Nian linked arms with Lin Wan, her eyes also full of anticipation.

At half-past eight in the evening, the door to the delivery room finally opened.

The group crowded around, looking joyfully at the blue swaddle in the doctor’s arms.

”How is my wife? How is my wife?”

Ji Chuan’s voice was slightly choked; heaven knew how agonizing the wait had been for him.

The doctor inwardly admired how good he was to his wife, but this was no secret; the couples in the Qingyun Squad were all like this.

She handed the baby over and comforted him:

”Don’t worry, both mother and child are safe. Quick, hold your baby first...”

Before she finished speaking, Ji Chuan had already bolted in like the wind.

The swaddle the doctor offered remained unclaimed.

Lin Wan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, yet she felt it was entirely expected.

”I’ll hold him.”

The doctor naturally recognized them—the Qingyun Squad.

She also knew that these people were like family; the beautiful woman beside her was the famous Lin Wan, and the tall, handsome, mature man next to her was Shen Mo Chi.

She smiled and handed the swaddle over.

”Daddy went to see Mommy, it’s the same if Auntie holds him.”

Lin Wan looked at the tiny baby and carefully took him.

Her movements were clumsy and stiff.

The doctor patiently instructed her.

”An infant’s body is soft; you must support his neck and bottom...”

”Like this?”

Lin Wan held him firmly.

Having just arrived in this world, he was still a little unaccustomed, his eyes closed as he sucked on his fingers.

At this moment, Lin Wan felt it was truly miraculous that Yue Yue had actually given birth to a living little person...

”Mo Chi, Nian Nian, look, he’s so cute, so small! Why is he so tiny? This little hand, it’s truly adorable.”

Mo Chi looked down at the beautiful scene.

Lin Wan’s eyes were filled with tenderness and pity. He thought that Ji Chuan had actually beaten him to having a child, but his and Lin Wan’s baby should also be arriving soon.

...

Yi Nian also looked at him in amazement, cautiously reaching out to touch his cheek.

”Sister Wanwan, he’s really so soft...”

As she spoke, Yue Yue was pushed out; her eyes and Ji Chuan’s were both a little red.

Everyone returned to the hospital room together.

Since it was a natural birth, they could go home after 24 hours of observation if there were no issues.

Ji Chuan originally wanted to observe for another day, but under Xia Yue’s strong suggestion, they happily took the baby home to their own place.

A reliable confinement nanny had already been hired; she was an old member of their Qingyun Base.

She was a sought-after confinement nanny even before the Apocalypse, very professional.

This was the leader of the Qingyun Base’s child.

This one job alone could ensure she wouldn’t worry about food or drink for the rest of her life, and she would be accepting requests until her hands were sore.

She absolutely had to put in extra effort to take good care of the mother and child.

Furthermore, her entire family had survived until now only thanks to the protection of the Qingyun Base, having weathered the most difficult times and welcomed these bright new days.

With a heart full of gratitude, she had to perform this duty well.

Thus, by the time the confinement period ended, little An An had grown into a chubby boy weighing ten catties.

Thanks to the meticulous care of the confinement nanny, Xia Yue’s complexion was rosy, and she truly enjoyed a comfortable and good confinement period.

Lin Wan and the others couldn’t put little An An down, holding him again and again.

Ji Chuan grinned, planting a kiss on An An’s soft, milky little cheek. Unexpectedly, the next second, whether by accident or not, An An’s chubby little hand reached up and smeared something on his own face.

Ji Chuan froze, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

”Hey, you little rascal, are you looking down on your dad now?”

Shen Mo Chi gently shook An An’s fair, tender little fist.

”An An really has spirit.”

Ji Chuan glared, about to say something, but then smiled again:

”Shen Mo Chi, I think you’re just jealous. How about that? After so many years, I couldn’t compare to you in anything, but now I have a son, and you don’t, hahahaha...”

Shen Mo Chi remained unmoved.

”An An, your dad just talks nonsense. Don’t listen to him, ignore him...”

Lin Wan and Xia Yue sat on the sofa, smiling as they watched the two men, both over six feet tall, engage in childish bickering.

”Wanwan, don’t you think this scene is quite pleasing to the eye?”

Lin Wan nodded.

”Indeed. Two handsome guys holding a cute baby. Why do I think they look more like a family of three?”

Xia Yue looked at them more and more, and her mind started conjuring up a romance novel plot.

She whispered slyly:

”If they were a couple, then your Shen Mo Chi would definitely be the boyfriend, just look at his looks and aura.”

Lin Wan burst out laughing.

”Yue Yue, is it really okay for you to talk about your husband like that?”

”Hahahaha... Talking is one thing, joking is another, but my Ji Chuan is still quite manly.”

Ji Chuan, provoked by Shen Mo Chi’s few calm remarks to the point of nearly jumping up, looked strangely at his wife.

”What are you two whispering about, smiling so slyly?”

”Xie Ji Chuan, do you want to die? Who are you calling sly...”

Just then, Yi Nian entered with Dou Dou and Shi Li from outside.

”Sister Wanwan, what are you all laughing about?”

Lin Wan winked at her and pulled her to sit beside her.

”It’s nothing, it’s a secret. Sister Yueyue will tell you later, otherwise your Brother Ji Chuan will throw a fit.”

Xia Yue’s eyes curved into crescents, and she nodded at her.

”Your Sister Wan is right. The whole table of food is waiting for your Shi Li to arrive.”

Shi Li put down the gift, hugged An An, and then sat at the table.

For the full moon banquet, Ji Chuan hosted a feast at the base for everyone to celebrate together.

Internally, it was still just their closest relatives celebrating little An An.

Ji Chuan poured drinks for everyone.

”Thank you all for coming to celebrate Xie Ziyu’s full moon ceremony, and for taking care of Yue Yue during this time. Everything is understood without words; I remember it all in my heart. I’ll toast you first.”

Lin Wan looked at him with a smile in her eyes.

”What thanks? We are one family, no need for formalities. An An is the first descendant among us, so doing these things is only natural.”

Ji Chuan nodded, then looked at Xia Yue with teary eyes.

”Actually, the person I should thank the most is my wife, Yue Yue. You’ve suffered a lot following me, and now you risked everything to give birth to my child. You’ve worked hard. With you, I, Xie Ji Chuan, have no regrets in this life.”

Xia Yue felt a sting in her nose and chided him:

”You really are something. On such a happy day, why say such sentimental things? Didn’t you cry enough in the delivery room that day?”

Shen Mo Chi glanced at him.

”Yue Yue, just let him cry. Record a video while you’re at it, so our An An can watch it when he grows up.”

”Shen Mo Chi, you’re undermining me again...”

Everyone burst into laughter, but suddenly they heard An An laugh too—the baby’s laughter was pure and lovely.

They looked over and saw Dou Dou rocking the crib and batting at the toys hanging above to amuse him...

It was a scene filled with warmth.
