4641 The Law of Time and the Devouring Dao

After entering the entrance of the Heaven Traversing Pagoda that flashed with purple lightning bolts, Duan Ling Tian felt an immense pulling force sweeping toward him. In just a blink of an eye, he found himself in a place shrouded by white mist, making it hard for him to see clearly. He instinctively extended his Divine Consciousness to his surroundings.

‘Huh? My cultivation…’

Duan Ling Tian inhaled sharply as fear flashed in the depths of his eyes. He found that his Divine Consciousness and his cultivation had fallen to that of an advanced Supreme God. It had not been long since he became a supreme powerhouse so he still remembered what it felt like to be a Supreme God.

Duan Ling Tian sensed the energy in his body and confirmed that he no longer had the strength of a level-seven supreme powerhouse. It seemed like he had returned to the realm of advanced Supreme Gods.

However, he also found that his law of space was still at the paramount stage, and his law of time and law of life were still in the perfect form. His other laws were also at their original levels. Similarly, his Four Daos of Heaven and Earth also remained unchanged.

It was just as the heavenly text had said before this.

‘My soul and cultivation were suppressed, and I didn’t even feel anything… Heaven’s methods are truly mysterious…’

Once again, it struck Duan Ling Tian how profound and formidable heaven was. It was much more complicated than what the Void Elder had speculated. After all, the Void Elder thought that after becoming a level-nine supreme powerhouse, he could perhaps defy the rules of heaven.

Duan Ling Tian had inherited the Void Elder’s memories so he naturally knew that the Void Elder’s knowledge of heaven was limited. Not only that, but seeing how even a level-nine supreme powerhouse had difficulty surviving the end of the world brought upon by heaven and only managing to leave behind a wisp of his soul in a Realm of Origin to pass on his legacy, it was clear that heaven was much more complex than the Void Elder had speculated. Moreover, when he first encountered the Void Elder’s wisp of soul, it was already fading away, looking as though it was going to be extinguished at any moment. Based on this, it could be seen that heaven was much more formidable than what the Void Elder thought.

‘Hmm?’

Duan Ling Tian was thinking about this matter when a mechanical voice rang in the air.

“To those who are entering this place for this first time, choose the law and the Dao of Heaven and Earth you want to observe within a quarter of an hour. The challenges you will face will be related to the law and Dao of Heaven and Earth you’ve chosen. If you wish to stop the challenges, simply say out loud, ‘Stop the challenge’. The number of challenges you pass will also determine the quality of the laws and Four Daos of Heaven and Earth you can observe. If you wish to advance further, simply say, ‘Continue the challenge’. If you want to switch to a different law or Dao of Heaven and Earth, you’ll have to restart the series of challenges again…”

Duan Ling Tian knew that the mechanical voice belonged to heaven. The introduction was brief and easy to understand. Those who entered from the new entrance would be brought to a training ground before they were given an introduction.

After a moment, Duan Ling Tian said, “The law of time and the Devouring Dao.”

His law of space had reached the paramount stage so there was no need for him to further comprehend it. After entering the realm of supreme powerhouses, he found it much more difficult to comprehend the laws. It was ten times more difficult than before. It was no wonder so many people were unwilling to enter the realm of supreme powerhouses before comprehending at least one law to the paramount stage.

Fortunately, heaven had given the Heaven Traversing Pagoda a new function that would greatly benefit him.

Among the laws he comprehended, the law of space, the law of time, and the law of life were his strongest laws in that order. As such, he chose the law of time.

As for the Daos of Heaven and Earth, he had just had a breakthrough in his Sword Dao recently, and he had yet to completely comprehend the Sword Dao in the Void Elder’s memory. As such, he was not in a hurry to further improve his Sword Dao. As for the Limitless Dao and the Mastery Dao, his comprehension of them was not low, and he also had yet to completely comprehend the two Daos in the Void Elder’s memory.

The Void Elder’s comprehension of the Daos of Heaven and Earth did not include that of the Devouring Dao. It was not that the Devouring Dao was harder to comprehend. It was just that he had his hands full comprehending three out of the Four Daos of Heaven and Earth.

Since Duan Ling Tian did not comprehend the Devouring Dao as well, he felt slightly curious and decided to choose it.

“Start the challenge.”

After Duan Ling Tian’s voice fell, a humanoid phantom figure appeared. However, its appearance could not be clearly seen. It launched a powerful palm strike toward Duan Ling Tian as soon as it appeared. It seemed as though it was teleporting when it moved, but this was not the case. It was the law of time that caused such an effect.

The phantom figure had the cultivation base of an advanced Supreme God, and its law of time was far inferior to that of Duan Ling Tian. As for its Devouring Dao, it did not affect Duan Ling Tian at all.

Duan Ling Tian knew the attack was easy to deal with because it was only the first challenge. He waved his hand casually, and a sword ray shot out before multiplying into tiny sword rays in just a blink of an eye. Then, they pierced the phantom figure, effectively destroying it and its attack.

“The second challenge begins now.”

Following the successful completion of the first challenge, the second challenge appeared. Although it was slightly more difficult than the first one, Duan Ling Tian still easily passed the challenge.

Duan Ling Tian continued on to the third challenge, the fourth challenge…

…

Apart from Duan Ling Tian, more than 70% of supreme powerhouses from the Myriad Worlds and the Outer Boundary also entered the Heaven Traversing Pagoda through the new entrance. All of them hoped to grow stronger quickly and rise to a new level.

…

As time passed, the supreme powerhouses who had yet to enter the Heaven Traversing Pagoda through the new entrance also began to grow restless and impatient.

“Why aren’t they out yet?”

…

After the new change of the Heaven Traversing Pagoda was announced, the general strength of the supreme powerhouses in the Outer Boundary and the Myriad Worlds also began to rise.

As for the advanced Supreme Gods who had previously rejected the call from the realm of supreme powerhouses such as Duan Ling Tian’s two senior brothers from the Myriad Laws Academy, they were now anxiously trying to enter the realm of supreme powerhouses. They wanted to become a supreme powerhouse as soon as they could so they could also enter the Heaven Traversing Pagoda to grow even stronger.

The duo could accept Huangfu Meng Yuan being stronger than them, but Duan Ling Tian’s strength seemed to light a fire under them, urging them to grow stronger as fast as they possibly could.
