This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Chapter 122: 122 Home Visits for Medical Treatment

If lactulose has no effect, then polyethylene glycol and saline laxatives will not be of much help either.

Li Xiang frowned a little. He needed to know the last diagnosis at the Municipal First Hospital and the treatment process.

”Do you have the last disease record?”

”No.”

Li Xiang gently pressed on other parts of Liang Fuman’s abdomen. ”Does it hurt when I press?”

”No.”

”Tell me about your treatment process at the Municipal First Hospital last time.”

Liang Fuman was reluctant to recall the treatment process. It was too shameful, embarrassing, and painful. But looking at Li Xiang’s serious face, he had to speak up.

”After going to the hospital, they took an X-ray of me and said there was no problem other than constipation. Then I don’t know what kind of medicine they used, but the urge to go to the bathroom was quite strong, but I just couldn’t go.” Liang Fuman paused here.

Li Xiang urged, ”Don’t stop, keep going. How did they treat you?”

Liang Fuman hesitated several times and finally said with embarrassment, ”They scooped it out for me.”

Recalling the scene and the humiliating posture at that time, he felt hurt once again.

This was the reason why he didn’t go to the hospital this time.

However, Li Xiang didn’t seem concerned. After a moment of thought, he said, ”That was likely the only option. Did you have any examinations afterward?”

”I did... a colonoscopy.” When Liang Fuman said this, his hands were clenched.

That feeling, he thought he would never want a second time in his life.

Even Du Fei, who was standing next to him, tightened his sphincter involuntarily upon hearing Liang Fuman’s words.

A colonoscopy, an invasive examination, involves inserting a flexible endoscope through the Spirit Gate, reaching the end of the colon, and then pulling it back out.

For those who are not used to it, it is definitely a devastating blow.

Li Xiang remained calm; at his age, he had seen all sorts of ups and downs. ”Did the examination find anything?” he asked.

Liang Fuman shook his head. ”No, they said there was no problem other than the intestinal wall being slightly dry.” He felt that this was the most painful part, as he suffered and endured the pain but gained nothing from it.

Li Xiang was a bit confused. It shouldn’t be! How could there be no intestinal lesion with Liang Fuman’s degree of constipation?

However, since the Municipal First Hospital had performed a colonoscopy and given an authoritative diagnosis, he could only think of other possibilities.

A blockage in bowel movements is not a serious illness, and their Health Clinic can treat it completely, so there is no need to refer the patient elsewhere.

For this kind of illness, it may not be life-threatening in the short term, but the patient will suffer a lot.

”You should get hospitalized first. I’ll prescribe some medicine for you, and let’s see the effect after about a day.”

”What if it still doesn’t work?” Liang Fuman asked painfully. ”If it doesn’t, do I have to get it scooped out again?”

Li Xiang looked very calm.

If even a drastic medication doesn’t work, manual removal would be the natural course.

Upon hearing the first half of Liang Fuman’s story, Li Xiang knew about the second half of the treatment at the Municipal First Hospital. The treatment involved clearing the bowel, then administering medication to hydrate and lubricate the patient’s intestines. This was followed by promoting gastrointestinal motility to increase its strength.

Liang Fuman left in pain. Du Fei wanted to say something but held back, helping Liang Fuman with the hospitalization procedures.

After a while, Li Xiang couldn’t think of a good solution temporarily, so he opened the system. Seeing that Liang Fuman had already completed the hospitalization procedures, he then prescribed a box of drastic medicine for treating stubborn constipation.

However, he estimated the effect might not be significant. Doctors at the Municipal First Hospital would surely have prescribed this type of medicine, yet they ultimately resorted to manual disimpaction.

As Li Xiang was contemplating alone in his office, a hesitant and curious-looking man arrived outside the Health Clinic.

The man was Pei Jihua. He had spent the night at the hospital with his wife and finally decided to visit Du Heng today.

Since Du Heng was able to diagnose it, he must have a treatment method for it.

Following the navigation, he finally arrived at the Zhonghu Town Health Clinic.

When he reached the registration window, he saw Wang Zhenzhen busily filling in forms inside. Pei Jihua knocked gently on the window. ”Hello, I’m looking for Doctor Du Heng.”

Wang Zhenzhen put down her work, skillfully switched to the registration system on the computer, and turned around to ask, ”Hello, are you looking for Doctor Du for treatment?”

”Yes, is Doctor Du available at the moment?”

”I’m sorry, Doctor Du has gone to the city for a meeting, so he’s not in the clinic right now.”

Wang Zhenzhen gave a professional smile. ”What seems to be the problem? Why don’t you register for our Doctor Li Xiang? He can take a look at you. Doctor Li Xiang is an experienced doctor, and his medical skills are excellent.”

Pei Jihua was a little disappointed. ”No, thank you. I’m specifically here to find Doctor Du Heng. Can you tell me when he’ll be back?”

Wang Zhenzhen looked at Pei Jihua with surprise. ”I can’t say for sure. Why don’t you come back tomorrow? He doesn’t have any scheduled meetings for tomorrow, so he will definitely be at the clinic.”

”Could you please ask when Doctor Du will be back? I’m staying in the city, and my wife is still in the hospital. I’m afraid I might not be able to come tomorrow.”

Wang Zhenzhen looked at Pei Jihua seriously, wanting to confirm his purpose. ”What illness do you want Doctor Du to treat?”

Pei Jihua pursed his lips. ”On Labor Day, Doctor Du examined me and said I have a tumor in my left lung. My wife happened to be hospitalized for surgery then, so it got delayed. Now that I have time today, I came to find Doctor Du to take a look and prescribe some medication.”

Seeing Wang Zhenzhen still looked unconvinced, he held up the film in his hand. ”Look, this is the film I had taken yesterday. I’m not lying to you.”

Wang Zhenzhen couldn’t actually take the film, but seeing the film from the tumor hospital in his hand, she decided to call Du Heng and ask.

After all, the man traveled a long way here, and this was a sign of trust in Du Heng, wasn’t it?

”President Du, when will you be back?... Oh, soon? Alright... There’s a patient who insists on seeing you. Okay, I’ll tell him to wait a moment.”

Wang Zhenzhen hung up the phone. ”Hello, you can sit on the bench over there for a while. Doctor Du will be back shortly.”

”Thank you.” Pei Jihua turned and went to the waiting bench.

Not long after he sat down, a group of people came downstairs, holding lunchboxes and walking towards the backyard.

Pei Jihua curiously looked at the group—about fifteen or sixteen of them, all dressed rather plainly. They didn’t look like Health Clinic staff.

Were they inpatients?

On his way here today, Pei Jihua had noticed that although Zhonghu Town was in the mountains, it was actually very close to the city. If people needed hospitalization, there was generally no need for them to choose to stay at the Health Clinic.

His curiosity hadn’t faded when, a short while later, the same group of people returned, each person now carrying two to three lunchboxes.

Unable to contain his curiosity, Pei Jihua stood up and walked over.

He casually stopped an Auntie who was carrying lunchboxes and asked with a smile, ”Auntie, are you here for treatment?”

The Auntie holding the lunchboxes was very cheerful, a smile on her lips. ”Of course. Why else would I come here if not for treatment?”

”If you don’t mind my asking, Auntie, what illness are you being treated for?”

”Not at all.” The Auntie with the lunchboxes stepped aside to let others pass. ”My husband was paralyzed by a cerebral infarction a year ago. We heard that Doctor Du here is very good at treating paralysis, so we came to see.”

Paralysis? Pei Jihua was rather surprised.
