The Young Master's Escaping Bride Who Lost Memories

Chapter 1429: Chapter 1446: The Hidden Secret of Many Years 2

Then, the butler opened a small slit in the window beside them.

”That was many years ago.” Nangong Jinlie said while smoking his pipe, his weathered face in the smoke still showing some signs of determination.

It was clear that this face had certainly once been stunning in his youth.

”Yaoling’s parents were commercially married. At that time, because my company in America was about to go public, and Yaoling’s mother’s family was quite esteemed among the Chinese community in America. Her brother held a position in the government, and her father also had a significant social status in America.

The Lan Family could bring enormous benefits to our Nangong Family. Meanwhile, our Nangong Family’s status in Europe was highly valued by the Lan Family.

Thus, both families promptly finalized the arrangement.

However, at that time, Yaoling’s father, Nangong Xiaoyun, who is my son, was already twenty-one and had a girlfriend during his college years.

But the girl’s family background would absolutely not be allowed to marry into our Nangong Family.

Therefore, Xiao’er continued their relationship behind my back with the girl. When I learned about their relationship, I immediately ordered Xiao’er to break it off.

Yet Xiao’er told me the girl was already pregnant.

I was shocked and angry, demanded the girl to abort the child, but she refused, and it had already been six months.

Three months later, the girl gave birth to the child.”

At this point, Nangong Jinlie paused and tapped his pipe in the ashtray twice.

Xia Xiaonuan couldn’t help but widen her eyes.

She moved her lips, intending to ask something, but for a moment, she didn’t know how to articulate it.

Nangong Jinlie noticed her thoughts, chuckled lightly and said, ”You’re right, that child is Yaoling.”

Xia Xiaonuan found it utterly unbelievable, she stammeringly asked, ”So... Grandpa... does that mean Nangong Yaoling’s current mother is not his biological mother? Does he know this?”

Nangong Jinlie shook his head.

Xia Xiaonuan gasped.

Nangong Jinlie’s weathered gaze turned outward to the window, and he continued.

”I had no choice but to bring the child into the Nangong Family to raise, after all, it was our Nangong family’s lineage.

It was at this time, the same situation happened in the Lan Family.

Yaoling’s mother, Miss Lan from the Lan Family, also had a boyfriend at that time; but it was said the man was a painter, came from a poor family, spent all his money on learning painting but never made progress, renting a place under twenty square meters, couldn’t even afford a meal box, only having a piece of bread, yet stubbornly and foolishly persisted with his painting.

But he moved Miss Lan from the Lan Family’s heart.

The Lan Family found out about this and strongly opposed it, causing almost irreconcilable conflict.

Miss Lan was confined by her family, and of course, these events only came to my knowledge later.

After she was confined, she kept thinking about escaping. Finally, one day, when the Nangong Family and Lan Family were busy preparing for the wedding ceremony, she escaped, following the painting student.

They fled together to Singapore, leaving for a year, hence the marriage between the Nangong Family and Lan Family could only be postponed.

A year later, when the Lan Family had almost given up searching, Miss Lan returned on her own.

She had enough of the poor life, not knowing how she managed through that year.
