The Young Master's Escaping Bride Who Lost Memories

Chapter 838: Chapter 588: Don’t Waste Your Efforts

A table full of sumptuous dishes, every time Nangong Yaoling returned home, the chef would add a few more dishes, many of which were Nangong Yaoling’s favorites.

Xia Xiaonuan sat at the dining table.

She looked at the servant and asked, ”Did you call for Young Master?”

”I’ve already called him... Young Master... seems to be busy.”

Xia Xiaonuan nodded.

”Young Madam, shall I call him again?”

”No need.” Xia Xiaonuan said flatly, ”If he doesn’t want to eat, I will eat by myself.”

As Xia Xiaonuan spoke, she picked up her chopsticks.

Just as she was about to start eating, she heard the maid’s voice from outside.

”Young Master!”

Nangong Yaoling nodded, ”Where is Young Madam?” His voice was cold and unemotional.

”Young Madam is waiting for you to have dinner.” The maid said enthusiastically.

Xia Xiaonuan: ”...”

She tried to act nonchalant and started eating, then saw Nangong Yaoling walking in from outside.

The maid quickly stepped forward, pulling out a chair for Nangong Yaoling while respectfully serving him rice, arranging the bowl and chopsticks.

Nangong Yaoling glanced at Xia Xiaonuan across the table without a trace of emotion, noticing that her complexion had indeed improved a bit. Apparently, Dr. Mark’s medicine was quite effective.

Sitting across from her, Nangong Yaoling looked at the uneaten food in her bowl.

”What’s wrong, don’t you like the food? If you think the home-cooked meals aren’t to your taste, I will ask Qin Yi to hire two new nutritionists.” Pregnant women indeed need a well-balanced diet.

Xia Xiaonuan was slightly taken aback, glanced at him, and said, ”There’s no need for that; it’s fine.”

Wasn’t this man suspicious of her? Why is he showing concern now?

Nangong Yaoling looked at her deeply, then picked up his chopsticks.

After eating a few more bites, Nangong Yaoling glanced at her and said, ”Tomorrow, I’ll take you to the hospital for a checkup, Dr. Mark suggested that when you’re a bit better, it’s best to do a comprehensive examination.”

Xia Xiaonuan was a bit surprised.

After thinking about it, she couldn’t help but ask, ”Aren’t you suspicious of me? Why accompany me for a checkup?”

Nangong Yaoling abruptly stopped eating.

Anger flickered in his eyes, but he suppressed it and said, ”Even if your behavior is questionable, if the child is indeed mine, I would still want to keep him by my side.” His implication was that even if he and Situ Yan had a relationship, for the child’s sake, he might reluctantly accept her.

A trace of a cold smile appeared suddenly at the corner of Xia Xiaonuan’s lips.

”So, you mean I’m just a baby-making machine now? If the child is yours, you’ll take her away from me, right?”

Nangong Yaoling was slightly shaken.

Take her away? If they lived together, the child would naturally be with her.

Did he think he would take the child and then drive her away?

Let her leave him...

He hadn’t thought about that possibility yet.

At least, he didn’t want that now!

Xia Xiaonuan set down the chopsticks in her hand.

Looking at the exquisite man in front of her, a trace of cold indifference and determination showed on his handsome face.

She glanced at the panic-stricken maids in the corner.

”You may leave.”

”Yes, Young Madam.” The maid quickly said.

After the servants left, Xia Xiaonuan fixed her gaze on Nangong Yaoling.

She said coldly, ”Nangong Yaoling, you’re wasting your efforts. The child is indeed not yours.”

With this, he ought to be satisfied, right?

In his eyes, she was no longer pure, and even if she carried his child, it could only bring disgrace to the child.
