The Young Master's Escaping Bride Who Lost Memories

Chapter 837: Chapter 857: Lukewarm State

Nangong Yaoling doesn’t believe that the child in her belly is his. He even mistakenly thinks that she is deceiving him, trying to make him acknowledge someone else’s child.

Xia Xiaonuan shook her head.

Just then, Yun stepped forward and knocked on the door, saying, ”Young Mistress, the Young Master is back!”

A trace of indistinct joy flashed through Xia Xiaonuan’s eyes.

However, her face remained calm, and she said in an unwavering voice, ”I know.”

Yun glanced at Xia Xiaonuan, a hint of confusion in her eyes.

What on earth is going on between the Young Mistress and the Young Master? Normally, if the Young Mistress is pregnant, the Young Master should be very happy. Now, the two of them are lukewarm, and they even had a big fight last time.

Young people these days are really becoming harder to understand.

Xia Xiaonuan heard the sound of Nangong Yaoling’s footsteps coming up the stairs, and a trace of excitement flashed through her heart. She quickly messed up her clothes and hair, then pretended to lie on the bed.

Having lived together for a long time, just by hearing the footsteps, she could tell if it was him.

As the footsteps approached, Xia Xiaonuan’s heart began to beat wildly.

However, sensing that the footsteps stopped at the door, in the end, they lingered for just a few seconds before turning away.

Xia Xiaonuan’s heart slowly sank.

A feeling of disappointment surfaced in her heart.

He still... doesn’t want to see her, doesn’t want to believe her, right?

She clenched her fist on the sheet.

She zoned out for a moment, until a servant came up to call her for dinner, asking if she would eat in the room or go downstairs.

These days, Xia Xiaonuan felt very lethargic, coupled with illness, she often ate meals in her bedroom, which felt dull always lying around.

”I’ll go downstairs to eat,” she said lightly.

”Okay.”

Xia Xiaonuan got up, washed up in the bathroom, and changed into a light pink home suit.

Though it was loungewear, it was all from top-tier global brands. Some of the clothes in the wardrobe were prepared for her by Nangong Yaoling, and some were bought by Xia Xiaonuan herself before.

But each set of clothes was worth tens of thousands.

After all, they were luxurious clothes and masterpieces by great designers. So, even at home, they felt high-class.

Xia Xiaonuan simply tied her straight hair into a low ponytail.

In the mirror, her once thin face had improved a lot after these few days of recuperation. Her face seemed a bit fuller, but her sharp chin and big eyes still looked delicate and pure.

Looking at the girl in the mirror, Xia Xiaonuan thought of something, but couldn’t help but press her lips down slightly.

Just as she was about to turn around, she suddenly saw the door being pushed open, and Nangong Yaoling’s tall figure appeared at the door.

Her heart leaped with joy, she quickly turned around, but didn’t see the figure she was expecting.

Her gaze dimmed slightly.

As she went downstairs, she saw the study light was on. Nangong Yaoling was still inside.

Should she call him to have dinner together?

But... with him suspecting her, should she still take the initiative to approach him? It might even provoke his suspicion.

She sighed.

Still, as she went downstairs, she intentionally made loud noises.

Her steps thudded on the stairs, yet her gaze couldn’t help but look back.

Nangong Yaoling sat at the desk.

Before him was a pile of data and documents; staring at the computer screen, his handsome and stunning face was now expressionless.

His pitch-black pupils slowly contracted.

Listening to the footsteps downstairs, his brow twitched slightly.

In the dining room.
