The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Princess Consort Ji pleaded with true emotion, moving everyone, if only her face weren’t so twisted.

Empress Dowager Wang rested her elbow on the small table, saying, ”Are you so ill that you’re confused, asking me to save him? Am I the one who can remove the Gu and cure illnesses, or the one who can perform exorcisms to bless his health? Didn’t a Gu Master arrive at Prince Min Mansion to remove the Gu for you?”

Princess Consort Ji said, ”That’s true, but the Gu Master said this time removing the Gu is extremely dangerous.”

”Coming to me is useless; I don’t have Daoist Skills,” Empress Dowager Wang said. ”Removing the Gu is dangerous, but it’s not certain doom. You should go back with peace of mind.”

”Lady, I’m just afraid I won’t make it, and with my eyes closed, I’ll follow the late Emperor, leaving Ze’er all alone, without any support.” Princess Consort Ji began to cry again.

Empress Dowager Wang opened her mouth, couldn’t hold back, and said, ”Don’t say I’m cruel and cursing you on purpose. I’ve heard Prince Min’s health is very fragile. Instead of worrying about yourself, you should worry about him.”

Princess Consort Ji was trembling with anger but dared not lash out.

”Lady, what if? What if Ze’er makes it?”

”Wouldn’t that be a joyous occasion to light firecrackers in celebration?” Empress Dowager Wang retorted, feeling somewhat at a loss, as if she and Princess Consort Ji were naturally incompatible, unable to communicate.

”I’m talking about the future,” Princess Consort Ji said. ”Lady, Ze’er has suffered so much in his short life, a perfectly good child ruined by the damned Xia clan traitors, his wealth enjoyed by others, enduring unearned hardships. My son, my son, he’s truly unlucky!”

Thinking of the emaciated Chu Ze, Princess Consort Ji was overwhelmed with sadness, slapping her thigh as she said, ”The late Emperor was merciful in sparing the Xia clan, but I say, those people are undeserving of his mercy, all should be sent to the eighteenth level of hell, especially that Xia Houzhe; he’s not worth lamenting over, how could the Emperor still spare his wretched life?”

As Princess Consort Ji spoke more fervently, tears and snot flowed, ruining her makeup. Empress Dowager Wang feared she’d faint at any moment, and as for the Commandery Princess beside her, why hadn’t she jumped up yet?

Empress Dowager Wang glanced at Princess Min, who remained calm despite being insulted so blatantly, as if she were deaf.

She coughed, kindly reminding her, ”Stop cursing; be mindful of your own health, becoming even weaker. How would you remove the Gu then?”

”If I die, I die. I’m not afraid to join the late Emperor, but I pity my Ze’er being all alone,” Princess Consort Ji mournfully said. ”Lady, if Ze’er survives this, please show mercy and protect him for a few more years, at least let him have a child, someone to carry his spirit in the future, boo hoo...”

As Princess Consort Ji spoke the last part, she was truly heartbroken.

She also knew that Chu Ze’s health was poor and that he wouldn’t live long. It was precisely this thought that made her feel utterly devastated, thinking how tragic it would be if her only son’s death left no one to carry his banner and break the basin in mourning.

Empress Dowager Wang’s face turned green, and she said, ”I don’t agree with what you’re saying. Neither I nor the Emperor ever said Prince Min is not allowed to have children. Likewise, whether he has children or not is not something I or the Emperor can control. So, what you’re asking is completely unreasonable.”

Princess Consort Ji immediately continued, ”Does that mean, regardless of who he has a child with, it’s fine? Even if it’s a legitimate heir.”

Princess Min suddenly raised her head, her face full of shock.
