Beast Taming Clan: I Have a Jade Book

The wind and snow in Thousand Gates City grew fiercer, swirling across the sky like goose feathers, blanketing the entire firmament.

The Cultivators guarding the city couldn’t help but activate the Array, letting strands of Spiritual Light rise and shoot into the distance. After a short while, the wind and snow lessened, and visibility improved considerably.

A few Cultivators relaxed and landed on the city wall.

After all, this was a Cultivator city; they didn’t need to stand guard at all times—Divine Sense was often more useful.

They only needed to occasionally use the Thousand-mile Mirror to scan the distant surroundings.

Now that several Cultivators were at leisure, they gathered together. One of them glanced around a few times, and only after confirming no one was near did he speak slowly.

”Have you heard? All of Wangqing Prefecture is in an uproar now. The information on the Celestial Sand Sect was leaked by the Hundred Beasts Sect. That’s because the Celestial Sand Sect’s Spiritual Cuisine is far richer in variety than that of the Hundred Beasts Sect. The only thing is, the Celestial Sand Sect mainly sells Pills, not Spirit Beast Cubs, otherwise the Hundred Beasts Sect’s business would be more than cut in half.”

”And it’s said that during the Celestial Sand Sect’s Golden Core ceremony, Master Qian He kept pressing about the origin of their Spirit Beasts, and even had an unpleasant clash with Master Qianchen...”

...

Their chatter drift over Thousand Gates City.

These messages, though secret, had already left the two True Masters in the palace at their wits’ end.

They themselves had tested things again: the Sect had sent no reply, and even the Hundred Beasts Sect disciples in Wangqing Market had sent no word back.

”Senior Brother, we can’t wait any longer. You and I will leave tonight and rendezvous in Purple He Commandery of Hezhong Mansion—that should be the safest place for us now.” Master Yuan Hu finally made his decision.

Master Yuan Liu nodded as well.

Then, at Zi hour, the night was utterly dark, with not a single Star in sight.

A streak of light slipped away quietly, heading straight toward Demon Cloud Abyss.

After that streak of light vanished for a while, another streak quietly disappeared as well; only its direction was not toward Demon Pass Mansion, but toward Xiaoshan Prefecture.

In Master Yuan Liu’s eyes, better the Dao companion die than the poor Daoist himself; even if they were Senior and Junior Brothers, it was still better for one to live than for both to perish.

At this moment, the most dangerous place was likely the border between Demon Pass Mansion and Wangqing Prefecture; the safest, instead, was Xiaoshan Prefecture.

But someone had to draw the attention.

That person could not be him, and so could only be his Junior Brother, who was as close as flesh and blood.

If something really happened, he would certainly mourn his Junior Brother.

...

In the endless mountain ranges, the snow on the lower slopes had already turned into freezing rain.

Master Yuan Hu did not use a Spiritual Ship, nor did he activate any other Magic, relying only on a basic Wind Control Skill and Night Melting Skill.

Coupled with his own Hidden Secret Technique, he believed ordinary Late Stage Golden Core Cultivators would never discover him easily.

After crossing nearly a hundred li, the anxiety in Master Yuan Hu’s heart finally eased by more than half.

After all, the most dangerous area was naturally the region near Thousand Gates City.

But before he could feel any real delight, he sensed something strange in the surrounding environment, and even the Spiritual Energy felt somewhat off.

Yet he couldn’t see anything wrong.

”Array!” Master Yuan Hu was instantly startled and hurriedly drew out his Magical Treasures.

However, his Magical Treasures were a step too slow. A Black Light Mirror emerged in the void, and tens of thousands of bands of black light bound toward Master Yuan Hu.

He rapidly activated his Spirit Beast Bag, releasing a Tier Four Early Stage Demon Tiger Demon King. Besides the Demon Tiger, he also activated two Magical Treasures and two Spirit Talismans.

One of those Magical Treasures was a set of Flying Needles, six in total; each needle was equivalent to a Tier Four Lower-Grade Treasure. This was also the signature Magical Treasure with which Master Yuan Hu had made his name—the Hexagram Needle.

The Flying Needles pierced through countless beams of the Black Light Mirror’s bindings, and together with the two Tier Four Spirit Talismans, they finally gave Master Yuan Hu a chance.

He wrapped himself in the remaining Soul-Loss Bell Magical Treasure and fled toward the side.

Yet before he could get away, he saw the Golden Falcon turning into a Flying Sword coming at him, and a Roc Fish spitting out a strange Five-Colored Spirit Bubble, drifting over lightly.

He had no choice but to draw out the Soul-Loss Bell. As the Soul-Loss Bell flew out, countless Beast Soul-type Soul Shadows surged forth, pouncing toward the pack of beasts.

These Beast Shadows indeed hindered the Golden Falcon and also affected the Roc Fish, but they had little effect on the Vermilion Bird.

He watched as it swung a Great Golden Rod Magical Treasure, smashing down toward Master Yuan Hu.

No matter how deftly Master Yuan Hu dodged again and again, in the end, under the interference of the Black Light Mirror’s beams, he was struck on the forehead by a single blow of the rod and turned into pulp on the spot.

The Vermilion Bird grew wildly excited, letting out continuous long howls.

Watching from behind, Ye Xuefan couldn’t help feeling deeply satisfied.

This Golden-eyed Vermilion Bird he had obtained from the Earth Immortal Realm was truly valiant.

This rod Magical Treasure was called the Demon-Subduing Rod, a Tier Four Middle-Grade Treasure, found by the Ye Family in True Monarch Heiyu of the Celestial Demon Sect’s Storage Bag.

Before this, the Vermilion Bird had always used Golden Eye-condensed Spirit Wood; while that was handy, it was still nowhere near as effective as a true Magical Treasure.

”Let’s go, we still have to hunt down that Master Yuan Liu!” Ye Xuefan stowed away his Storage Bag, then recalled all Spirit Beasts and Arrays. With a wave of his hand, a strand of flame appeared, slowly burning in midair.

Ye Xuefan’s figure receded into the distance.

...

Elsewhere, Master Yuan Liu took out a piece of Willow Wood and glanced at it, only to see the wood rapidly wither and fade.

”Just as expected!” Though he had been prepared, Master Yuan Liu still felt somewhat desolate.

This piece of Willow Wood was a branch from his life-bound Non-Phase Willow Wood Demon.

This kind of Willow Branch could bind with a Cultivator’s Essence Blood for a short time, allowing a rough judgment of the other party’s fortune and misfortune without needing a Soul Talisman.

Now that the Willow Wood had withered and yellowed, with faint signs of dying, it meant the odds were already disastrously against them.

Thinking of this, Master Yuan Liu couldn’t help but speed up.

However, the faster he went, the more he felt as if something had locked onto him; this feeling made his face drain of color.

He had felt this once before—when he was being targeted by a Nascent Soul cultivator.

How could this not terrify him.

The Nascent Souls who would appear in Southern Wilderness Province were only those few—either Liu, the Zhou State Governor of Southern Wilderness Province, or the four Nascent Soul powers.

The force expanding in Xiaoshan Prefecture and Wangqing Prefecture was the Profound Puppet Sect; thinking of this, Master Yuan Liu immediately felt bitter to the extreme.

If he was being stared at by a Nascent Soul, even if the other side didn’t strike, his chances of survival were slim.

Thinking of this, he suddenly released his Spiritual Ship and stopped hiding.

Since he’d already been discovered, he could only gamble that the person in the shadows couldn’t make a move.

And as Master Yuan Liu accelerated, that hidden strand of Divine Sense became all the more obvious.

But they truly did not strike.

This made him unable to hold back a surge of joy; if he could flee into Jiayuan Prefecture before the pursuers arrived, the crisis would naturally be resolved.

The Righteous Sect had a Nascent Soul, and the Profound Celestial Demon Sect also had a Nascent Soul.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

In this way, another half day passed.

When he descended into a valley, he saw a dazzling beam of golden light fall onto him.

Immediately, even his Spiritual Ship began to crack and groan, and he felt as if he were bearing the weight of a giant mountain.

”Weren’t you unable to make a move?” At this moment, Master Yuan Liu almost wanted to curse out loud.

This terrifying Gravity Divine Light was definitely unleashed by a Nascent Soul cultivator.

A massive ancient stele also dropped down.

”An ancient treasure!” Master Yuan Liu repeatedly urged a gigantic willow tree to manifest.

But even though the willow tree Wood Demon’s combat power was decent, it was still far too inferior before an Ancient Treasure.

And at some unknown moment, countless mountain rocks converged, giving Master Yuan Liu no chance to explain at all, forming into a Mountain Prison; then, with a deafening boom, it exploded apart.

Master Yuan Liu fell on the spot.

Ye Jingcheng and Ye Haicheng stepped out of the void.

The one secretly tailing him was naturally Ye Jingcheng; although he couldn’t personally strike, he had been constantly on guard and offering strategies.

The reason it went so smoothly was also because of Ye Jingcheng’s powerful Divine Soul.

He had kept Master Yuan Liu locked in place and notified Ye Haicheng and the Earth Dragon Demon Emperor, who had finished dealing with Hundred Beasts Mountain.

Speaking of it, Master Yuan Liu was truly insidious, actually using Master Yuan Hu as bait.

If Ye Jingcheng hadn’t been present, this Master Yuan Liu really might have escaped.

The two of them collected the Spirit Beast Bags and Storage Bags; Ye Jingcheng even had the Dream-Devouring Worm devour Master Yuan Liu’s Residual Soul, preparing to perform a Soul Search and eliminate all possible threats.

Once the Dream-Devouring Worm finished devouring the Divine Soul, the Earth Dragon Demon Emperor also slew that willow Wood Demon, extinguishing its spirituality.

The chance of successfully taming and subduing this kind of Wood Demon was not high, and in addition the Ye Family just happened to lack a Wood Demon to perform the Five Demons Nascent Soul Secret Technique, so naturally they showed no mercy.

After cleaning up, Ye Jingcheng and Ye Haicheng went straight toward Sha Huang Mountain.

Because Mansion Master Xiao and Prince Wang were in seclusion, Ye Jingcheng had no need to go to the prefectural city.

As long as he properly arranged for clansmen to offer up a share of the benefits from the Hundred Beasts Sect, that would be enough.

At the same time, during Ye Haicheng’s looting, he hadn’t destroyed Hundred Beasts Mountain; whether Prince Wang kept it for himself in the future, or had another power occupy it, he would be able to earn a huge amount.

As for the Ye Family, for now they still didn’t have the ability to span two prefectures.

”Jingcheng, this time, besides getting over ten million Spirit Stones and Spirit Medicine resources, we also obtained a Gold Condensing Fruit Tree, three Tier Four Spiritual Treasures, and a large number of Spirit Beast Cubs; there are an extremely large number of Roc Birds inside, most of them Golden Roc, which can greatly improve the clan’s level of Flying Spirit Beasts.”

”At the same time, in the Hundred Beasts Sect’s clan treasury, we found a Blood Contract Method for Wood Demons that suits us better; our methods for nurturing Spirit Beasts have also increased and been refined quite a bit.” On the Spiritual Ship, Ye Haicheng enthusiastically reported to Ye Jingcheng.

Ye Jingcheng was also extremely delighted when he heard this; after all, many of the Spirit Medicines he needed had been replenished, including two Tier Five Spiritual Medicines. The foundation of the Hundred Beasts Sect was indeed not bad.

There was even a hand-written note within the Hundred Beasts Sect’s sect on insights into breaking through to Nascent Soul.

Once Ye Jingcheng went to the Tian Dao Sect, he could obtain two such notes.

For Ye Jingcheng, who was about to break through to Nascent Soul, having one more set of insights would make things much easier.

Of course, for the Ye Family, the greatest gains this time were the Nascent Soul Pill and True Monarch Heiyu’s Taiyin Ancient Crow Wings, followed by the Yin Yang Demon Corpse and the Yin Yang Demon Corpse Pill-Refining Nascent Soul technique.

Only then came the Mutated Golden Roc Spirit Egg and these Spirit Medicine gains.

In addition, the several Tier Five Treasures were especially practical.

Before long, another Spiritual Ship approached; on it was Ye Xuefan.

The three exchanged a glance and all broke into knowing smiles.

This time, they could be said to have completely obtained the inheritance of the Hundred Beasts Sect.

Although that inheritance was inferior to the Ye Family’s, it still had its points worth referencing.

Once the Ye Family finished digesting it, the richness of the Ye Family’s Spirit Beasts and its future potential would both increase greatly.

Of course, even more importantly, they had perfectly resolved the hidden dangers posed by the Hundred Beasts Sect, the Blood Spear Sect, and the Celestial Demon Sect.

As for the rest, there was no need for the Ye Family to act; on Prince Wang’s side, he would arrange for people to carry out a clean-up of the remaining Qi Cultivation and Foundation Establishment Purple Mansion cultivators.
