Beast Taming Clan: I Have a Jade Book

Even though it was already late autumn, Medicine King Mountain was still slightly hot. The bright sun shone intensely, making people’s faces flush red.

At this moment, in front of the mountain gate, there was a long line casting a series of shadows under the sunlight.

Among these cultivators, there were those in the Qi Cultivation and Foundation Establishment stages, but most of them were exceptionally young.

The sign in front of the mountain gate also listed the requirements for the examination, as Medicine King Valley had opened its gates to recruit a new round of disciples.

Ye Xuecang, Ye Haicheng, and other Ye Family cultivators were also present.

However, unlike the previous tension, the few people appeared extremely relaxed now, letting the sun shine on their faces, warming their bodies with its light.

Penglai Sect hadn’t made a move, and Medicine King Valley was also doing well now, which was precisely what the Ye Family was most pleased to see.

If everything went smoothly, in more than ten years, Ye Jingcheng could go into seclusion and break through to the Nascent Soul, while Ye Jingyu and Ye Haige could prepare for the Golden Core breakthrough. When that time comes, the Ye Family would have two more Golden Core cultivators and an additional Nascent Soul cultivator.

With Nascent Soul cultivators, the Ye Family’s actions, whether in the Eastern Domain or the Central Domain, would be much more convenient.

”There are indeed quite a number of people taking part in Medicine King Valley’s disciple examination this time,” Ye Jing Hu couldn’t help but sigh.

He took a glance and saw that out of thirty thousand people, three thousand had stayed.

Of course, many of them were accompanying elders, and the actual qualified ones, who could enter the examination, were estimated to be only six hundred, most of whom were core disciples and members from various core sects.

The reason for this was also due to the stringent conditions.

Those under thirty need to be at the Late Stage of Qi Cultivation, with a spirit root purity of over fifty percent.

Or have spirit roots in the dual category, while being under twenty years old.

The requirements for Foundation Establishment cultivators were also extremely high, only recruiting Foundation Establishment cultivators under the age of forty-five.

Among these six hundred individuals subject to these conditions, only a hundred and fifty can be retained after the examination.

This time, the Ye Family brought six family members, planning to arrange for all six to enter Medicine King Valley. Among them, two received a special exemption from Medicine King Valley, so the Ye Family still had four members needing to take the examination.

But since the family members the Ye Family brought this time had relatively good talent, and even the two with the poorest talent used the special exemption quota, although not all six might get in, at least five could.

Of course, the reason the Ye Family was so leisurely in accompanying the examination was to wait for Fairy Linghong of Taiyi Sect to return to Yan Kingdom together.

This was evidently much safer.

This wasn’t because Ye Xuecang and the others were fearful and changed their minds at the last minute.

Rather, Medicine King Valley specially transmitted a message to the Ye Family, obviously worried that something might happen to the Ye Family members in secret.

This time, there were too many sects coming, many with Nascent Soul cultivators, and if the Ye Family were targeted, there’d be no need for Penglai’s intervention.

Furthermore, if the Ye Family members were killed in the wilderness of Zhao Kingdom, Penglai could easily pin the blame on coastal sects such as Celestial Water Sect and East Heaven Sect.

That’s a dead-end situation.

Adding to that, there’s the Bai Family, who lost a Nascent Soul Ancestor in the Beast Tide, and the Cyan River Sect, who are watching closely.

Thinking of these things made Ye Xuecang and the others feel somewhat apprehensive.

After all, it was not like being on Ye Family’s Lingyun Peak, where they could maneuver with arrays or hold out for a moment; if ambushed in the wild, they might not even be able to call for help.

The Ye Family members just happened to be free at this time, so they agreed.

Ultimately, it’s because the Ye Family had too few Nascent Soul cultivators; if there were one or two accompanying them, all issues would be easily resolved!

”Elder Ye!” As the group watched their family members take the examination, they saw Su Xin Ascendant from Cyan Cloud Nunnery approaching with many cultivators from Yan Kingdom.

This group was the same cultivators who discussed matters in the Guest Welcoming Tower that day.

They were also arranging for family disciples to take the examination. After all, Medicine King Valley could potentially become an Immortal Sect force in the future; now was the best time to curry favor. Additionally, it was difficult to ally with Penglai for cultivators from Yan Kingdom, Zhao Kingdom, Jin Kingdom, and other cultivation kingdoms, being so close to Medicine King Valley.

Seeing so many people, Ye Xuecang couldn’t help but be stunned.

After all, these people were all carrying storage bags, seemingly intending to offer treasures.

”We’ll leave once the examination is over!” Ye Xuecang spoke right away, without the intention of engaging in a lengthy conversation with these people.

This was the site of Medicine King Valley’s examination, so the Ye Family naturally couldn’t accept gifts here casually.

This was a major taboo!

Ye Xuecang wouldn’t commit such an error, just for the Ye Family currently having some leverage, to make Medicine King Valley regard them more highly.

”Everyone is gracious, if you have any interest in the Ye Family, once this matter is over, we would welcome you to Lingyun Peak!” Ye Jingyu also cupped his hands and spoke, politely declining their intention to continue with an extended conversation.

Hearing this, the two Purple Mansion members from Jiang Family and Li Family were naturally disappointed. They speculated in their hearts whether they had offended too much previously.

Therefore they were already thinking about how to make amends in their hearts.

The best way to make amends, they thought, might be to start from Taichang Market.

For instance, offering a few shops, or presenting some spirit vein ore veins that the Ye Family lacked.

After all, Taihang Commandery was still considerably poorer than Taichang Commandery.

After the forces from Taihang Commandery and Taichang Commandery had dispersed, Ye Xuecang also unsurprisingly saw Master Mo Dao from Tian Dao Sect with his disciples.

However, Master Mo Dao was noticeably more rational; he just greeted them and left.

The examination lasted an entire day, and surprisingly to Ye Xuecang and the others, all six members from the Ye Family successfully remained in Medicine King Valley.

...

Yan Kingdom, Taichang Mountain Range, Taichang Market.

On the pavilion in the middle of the market, Ye Jingteng was also inspecting one jade box after another.

Inside the Jade Box were not other things, but clearly rows of Spirit Medicine.

These Spirit Medicines are at least three hundred years old.

They were prepared for Ye Qingyan. Compared to dealing with Ye Jingcheng, he disliked Ye Qingyan’s style. But at this moment, the only one who could help him with dedication in Alchemy was Ye Qingyan. He had been stuck at the Early Stage of the Purple Mansion for almost fifty years.

Seeing that he is about to be left behind by Ye Qingshuang, he is naturally anxious.

Moreover, this time, Taiyi Sect arranged cultivators to go to Medicine King Valley, but did not include him, only bringing Ye Qingshuang.

This made him feel rather indignant.

Therefore, he collected so many Spirit Medicines and also planned to exchange for some Spirit Pills to break through to the Middle Stage of Purple Mansion. That way, he would have more say within the sect.

”I wonder how Jingcheng’s cultivation is progressing; he’s close to breaking through to Golden Core, isn’t he!” Ye Jingteng couldn’t help but mumble.

Just as he was lamenting, a Sound Transmission Talisman emerged.

Before Ye Jingteng had a chance to react and check it, a middle-aged man wearing golden robes walked in.

”Master Xuan Dao, weren’t you at Penglai...” Ye Jingteng said in disbelief.

”We had some unexpected encounters at Penglai, which delayed us. By the way, do you know much about the Ye Family?” Master Xuan Dao queried.

”You’re joking, Master Xuan Dao; I was born into the Ye Family. I might not know everything, but I know most of it!” Ye Jingteng replied respectfully.

Seeing Master Xuan Dao’s gaze prompting him to continue, he spoke:

”Among the Ye Family disciples, the most talented is Jing Generation’s Jingcheng, followed by Jing Generation’s Jing Hu, and then Qing Generation’s Qingshuang. Subsequently, I should rank prominently. Currently, the family has three in the Purple Mansion...”

”Are you sure?” Master Xuan Dao frowned, holding a Spirit Inquiry Talisman in his hand.

This even made Master Xuan Dao question the Spirit Inquiry Talisman.

”Responding to you, Master; of course, I’m sure!” Ye Jingteng nodded. Although unsure of why he was interrupted, he pondered for a moment and affirmed.

After all, he returns to Lingyun Peak every ten years or so to check.

”Look at this; who is this?” Master Xuan Dao took out a Jade Talisman.

The Jade Talisman emitted Spiritual Light, revealing scenes of Ye Haicheng and Ye Xuecang.

It even included Golden Core Stage Ye Xuecang’s magical combat scene, along with the Three-eyed Demon King, Thunder Roc Demon King, and the Nascent Soul Pavilion fallen from the Ye Family.

”This pavilion, only those with Nascent Soul power can sit inside.” Master Xuan Dao reminded.

”Impossible!” But at this moment, Ye Jingteng was already in a state of shock.

In his memory, Ye Haicheng had died, died during the previous Beast Tide. At that time, Ye Jingyong even questioned Ye Jingcheng, which caused some conflict.

As for Golden Core cultivation and Nascent Soul power, these made him feel everything was false.

It also overturned his understanding.

If the Ye Family truly had Nascent Soul cultivators, why would he, with Dual Spirit Roots, have to join the Taiyi Sect?

If their family had such strong power, why did they, at times, support him so much?

Their eyes clearly hoped he would achieve something great in Taiyi Sect, to bring benefits back to the family.

The family consistently arranged for family members to enter the sect, for him to take care of.

Ye Jingcheng even urged him to recruit sect disciples; among those he now mentors, two are close to breaking through to the Purple Mansion, and thirteen are at Foundation Establishment...

”I must see Jingcheng! I must see Jingcheng!” At this moment, he was somewhat hysterical, even his Dao Heart started to crumble, and his cultivation True Essence began to destabilize...

But before he could speak, Master Xuan Dao forcefully pressed his head.

His eyes became stark white instantly, as Master Xuan Dao enforced a Soul Search.

This Soul Search was restricted by the Jade Book, but at this moment, Master Xuan Dao was extremely domineering, enforcing a Soul Search.

Soon, the Jade Book exploded, Divine Soul dissipating completely.

Master Xuan Dao’s Soul Search didn’t yield much.

What angered him was that within the scant details acquired, it was exactly as akin to what the Spirit Inquiry Talisman showed.

Unable to extract anything substantial, Ye Jingteng was entirely a presumptuous abandoned pawn, knowing perhaps even less than Master Xuan Dao!

...

Taichang Mountain Range, Cloud Soaring Mountain.

This was the Spirit Mountain assigned to Ye Jingteng.

Currently, many disciples are gathered in front of the Spirit Mountain.

Among these disciples are members of the Ye Clan and disciples of Ye Jingteng.

At the moment, they are all gathered in front of the pavilion.

”The clan summoned us here; what is the matter?”

”We’re also not sure; isn’t the Master supposed to be stationed at Taichang Market?”

Each began to inquire, but yielded no answers.

When everyone entered the pavilion, they found no sign of Ye Jingteng.

Clearly, it was a cultivator wearing a Spirit-Blocking Robe, revealing only a pair of piercing eyes staring intimidatingly at them.

”Everyone, a few questions will be asked, remember not to lie...”
