My father sold me to the Mafia King

Chapter 417

Julie’s point of view

”How can I stay away, for heaven’s sake?!” he replied emotionally. ”Have you lost your mind?!”

”Listen to me, Steve...” I pleaded.

I glanced over at Thomas, who was watching my every move with sharp, hawk-like eyes. I took a few steps toward the far corner of the room, turning my back slightly, and dropped my voice to an absolute whisper.

”Go to Carlos immediately...”

Steve gasped on the other end. ”Are you out of your mind?! He’s Robert’s best friend!”

”I know that!” I whispered fiercely, putting extreme emphasis on every word. ”But he’s the only one who can keep you hidden from Robert’s eyes!”

”Julie... this isn’t a good idea at all,” Steve hesitated.

Closing my eyes tightly, I squeezed out, ”Trust me, Steve!... Go to him and tell him that I sent you. Please, brother... if you really care about me, go to Carlos!”

Steve let out a heavy sigh of defeat. ”But Julie—”

”Steve...” I cut him off, my voice dropping into a firm, non-negotiable tone. ”...if you want me to stay alive, go to him right now!”

”Fine, Julie...” he yielded softly. ”...I’ll do it.”

I disconnected the call instantly. Turning around, I met Thomas’s unreadable gaze with deep suspicion.

Stepping toward him, I asked coldly, ”What guarantees that you won’t betray me and capture my brother again?”

Thomas adjusted his hands on the armrests of his wheelchair, his expression indifferent. ”I don’t care about your brother at all, Julie. What I care about is my grandson... and I am not foolish enough to betray an agreement that will save the life of my only grandchild.”

I let out a heavy breath. ”Fine... I’ll trust that. But I have one more request.”

His lip curled slightly. ”You have too many requests, Julie.”

”I just need to make one single phone call,” I stated firmly.

He eyed me with a suspicious glance. ”To the police?”

A bitter laugh escaped my throat. ”I know very well that not even the police can rescue me from this cage.”

Thomas smirked with satisfaction. ”A smart girl indeed... Make your call.”

He handed the phone back to me. I unlocked it and opened the contacts list, confident the number would be saved there. Sure enough, I found the name *Carlos*. Hitting the call button, I took a few steps toward the closed window.

The moment his voice came through the line, ”Hello... Mr. Thomas?”

I kept my tone low. ”Hello... It’s Julie.”

Carlos paused in total shock. ”Julie?!”

To ensure complete privacy despite my low whisper, I immediately switched to fluent Spanish:

*(I am using Thomas’s phone right now... Listen to me, Carlos. I’m going to ask you for a humanitarian favor, and I hope you will help me.)*

Carlos replied in serious, fluent Spanish as well:

*(Yes, Julie... I’m listening.)*

I continued whispering in rapid Spanish:

*(My brother Steve will come to you asking for your help... But I need you to lock him up immediately!)*

Carlos gasped in utter amazement:

*(What the hell are you saying?!)*

*(My brother will try to save me from here,)* I urged with intense desperation, *(and I know very well that Robert is a dangerous man who won’t hesitate to kill him... Steve will never succeed at this!)*

*(Are you asking me to imprison your own brother, Julie?!)* Carlos asked in shock.

*(Exactly!)* I replied with absolute finality. *(You will keep him locked away in a completely hidden location. Find him a safe house somewhere in the city and place heavy security on him. That’s the only way I’ll know my brother is completely safe and out of Robert’s reach!)*

Carlos let out a deep, heavy sigh. *(You really are crazy, Julie!... What if Robert finds out about this?)*

*(Are you going to help me with this or not, for heaven’s sake?!)* I challenged.

After a short silence, he answered, *(Of course I will help you.)*

I breathed a sigh of relief. *(Excellent... And when you are done with that, come to the club immediately. I have something extremely important to discuss with you.)*

*(Alright, Julie,)* Carlos agreed.

I hung up immediately, quickly deleting the number from the outgoing call log. Handing the phone back to Thomas, I asked coldly, ”And now... how are you going to get me out of this prison to perform the procedure?”

Taking his phone, Thomas spoke with calm confidence. ”I will speak with Robert, of course.”

”And you think he’ll agree that easily?” I asked skeptically.

He twisted his mouth slightly. ”I don’t think he would hate his own nephew... would he?”

I shrugged my shoulders. ”I don’t damn well know.”

Wheelchair turning toward the door, Thomas added, ”Well... I’m leaving now. Robert isn’t even here anyway he went completely furious when he found out your brother escaped his grip.”

He turned back to look at me one last time before opening the door. ”I’ll keep you updated on every development.”

He closed the door softly behind him.

The second I made sure he was far enough away, I jumped onto the bed in sheer joy, pressing my hands tightly against my chest as tears danced in my eyes.

”Finally, for heaven’s sake!...” I wept happily. ”...I saved my brother from that damned Robert’s hands!”

Meredith’s POV

I yanked open the wooden wardrobe door with a swift tug, hauling out the massive black leather duffel bag and tossing it onto the mattress, where it landed with a heavy, satisfying thud.

My fingers trembled with pure adrenaline as I slid open the main zipper, exposing tightly stacked bundles of crisp, green dollar bills. Extending my hand, I lifted an entire rack of cash, bringing it close to my face to deeply inhale the rich aroma of fresh paper and ink.

Who could have imagined that annoying girl would be the key to securing this mountain of wealth?

”Finally... finally, I’m buying that luxurious mansion with the massive pool and beautiful garden,” I whispered to myself, my eyes greedily drinking in the stacks.

Closing my eyes for a few blissful seconds, I envisioned myself dripping in sparkling jewels, stepping out of a sleek luxury car with a mirror-shine finish while a private chauffeur held the door open with absolute reverence.

Suddenly, a rhythmic series of sharp knocks broke through the room’s quiet, echoing from the front door!

Panicking, I shoved the heavy bag back into the wardrobe, slamming the wooden door shut. I quickly straightened my shirt, dragging my feet toward the entrance to open up.

And in that exact second... the breath hitched right in my throat.

I wasn’t staring at a stranger. It felt as if I were standing before a polished mirror reflecting a second version of myself the exact duplicate I had carried nothing but deep hatred for in my heart.

The same emerald-green eyes, the same facial structure, the long brown hair cascading over her shoulders, even the exact same slender posture. Yet, she looked vastly better than me as though time itself had frozen for her frame, leaving behind not a single mark of age.

Her lips curved into that familiar, sly smirk as she spoke in a mocking tone:

”Dear sister... didn’t you miss me?”

I froze in place, squeezing my eyes shut for a fraction of a second, convinced I was caught in the middle of a fever dream. After all, I hadn’t felt her presence or set eyes on her in twenty-one whole years!

”Violet?!” I whispered, the name forcing its way out of my dry throat.
