1000x Random Returns: Investing in My Crippled Demon Wives!

Chapter 117: Chapter 117: What, Exactly, Are You?!

Lucien brought the affinity testing orb towards him as he set his hand upon it.

The response was immediate. Crimson light, then deep shadow, then silver ripples that bent light around them like a lens, and finally a strange, swallowing blackness and for one unsettling moment, the orb’s interior looked less like glass and more like a window into a tiny, starless void before the whole thing turned crimson with black lines running through it.

Carmilla’s amusement drained into sharp focus she watched this

[ Affinities Determined:

Blood Affinity — ??? Rank.

Space Affinity — SSS Rank.

Void Affinity — SSS Rank.

Nothingness Affinity — SSS Rank.

Shadow Affinity — B Rank.

Fire Affinity — D Rank. ]

”It seems there’s no secret Affinity hiding in me like Eve’s devouring.” Lucien said jokingly, as he saw the list.

’At the very least it’s not empty.’ He thought.

’Seems like the Fire and Shadow Affinity traits actually give me the affinities.’

”Woah hubby, whats up with your Blood Affinity?” Evelisse asked seeing no rank beside it, which also caught the attention of the other three.

Carmilla stared at the display for several long seconds.

”...My dear disciple.”

”Yes master?”

”What, exactly, are you my disciple?”

”A vampire, I think, shouldn’t you know more than me master?” He shrugged not so sure about what he was himself anymore, but according to the system he was somehow still a vampire. 𝐟𝑟ⅇ

”That I thought I did.” She laughed a bit shaking her head deciding to leave it for now.

”It’s just like what we knew, there’s the void, space and nothingness all SSS rank, on top of Blood, though your shadow and fire are low ranked.” Carmilla assessed.

”So what’s up with his blood Affinity Big Sis?” Evelisse asked.

”It should be that our dear husband’s Affinity for blood is higher than Divine, that’s why it’s not being displayed.” Aurelia said looking at him as Seraphina also agreed.

”Yes little Aura is correct about it being higher than Divine, seems like my dear disciple is quite the box of surprises.” Carmilla smiled.

”It seems like our hubby is the actual main Character here.” Evelisse joked making Seraphina giggle.

The table laughed but Carmilla didn’t, not quite she kept circling the orb, visibly turning the already Space, Void and Nothingness combination over in her head along with the now revealed higher than Divine Blood Affinity.

’I expected it to be high considering both his bloodline and talent are Blood based, on top of him being a vampire, but its actually higher than Divine.’ She thought watching him and and girls talk about their various affinities.

’I wonder what it’s actual Rank is.’ She thought.

”Well,” Carmilla finally said, ”at the least your cultivation path certainly won’t be boring, I’m sure they’ll be a lot of entertaining moments for me.”

”I was hoping for something a little more reassuring, you know?”

”Then you picked the wrong Goddess my dear disciple,” she said as he started worrying.

”Just kidding, your sugar mommy will always be here to spoil you.” Sha burst out laughing while the girls joined in as his face scrunched up hearing her.

’Seriously, I didn’t expect the Goddess of Blood to be such a shameless woman.’ He thought sighing.

Once everyone had been tested, Carmilla snapped her fingers and produced three different manuals directly onto the table, each of the covers etched with different patterns, the first being of various weapons, war second having what looked like a heart and the third being half black and half white.

Even at B Rank, Lucien could feel a certain pressure radiating off each them, all of them feeling unique from anything he felt before.

Carmilla picked up the first one and handed it to Aurelia, the manual itself was a reddish gold color with various weapons etched on the metallic looking cover, all of them faced towards what looked like the sky with the name on the front.

Aurelia took it the manual both hands before Lucien could ask to look at it, and for once her expression went genuinely respectful as she examined the manual.

[The Heaven Shattering Scripture (Mythical Rank)]

”Its suits both your War and Weapon affinities,” Carmilla said.

”It’ll also build your martial power without neglecting but improving the crazy body that the Asura race is infamous for, with it you can turn your body into a weapon itself beyond most Asuras.” Carmilla said.

”Oh and just so you know how powerful this is, the being that made this was known as the Heaven Shattering War God.”

”Not much is known about him but he was an arrogant human Emperor who almost reached God hood, but made way to many enemies fo his liking and was ambushed mid ascension leading to his death.” Carmilla said.

”And don’t be fooled, the only reason he was killed because the other side out numbered him 100 to 1 along with a few Gods assisting them in killing him.” She told them.

”How did he even make enemies with Gods?” Evelisse asked.

”I don’t know, those things happened tens of thousands of years ago and the only reason I have it is because some old fart used it as a bet against me and I won.” She said laughing.

”Hehe, he actually thought he could win against me the Goddess of Gambling.” She burst out laughing remembering the look on their face.

”You the Goddess of gambling too, Lady Carmilla?” Seraphina asked curiously wondering how these Gods appointed titles to themselves.

”Ehem, no its just beacuse at I am so good at gambling that I call myself that.” Carmilla cleared her throat embarrassed.

’Ah I missed the chance to invest it into her.’ He thought his heart shattering as he saw her take the technique.

”Thank you, Carmilla.” Aurelia said.

”You’re welcome, little sister, just don’t level the training grounds, the others also have to is them.” Carmilla said winking at her.

”I make no promises.”

Lucien meanwhile was crying on the inside at the missed opportunity.

’I should have moved faster.’.

’Wait a minute master, what if I improve these for the girl’s then they can cultivate it?’ He asked Carmilla mentally as he wanted to know why she gave both him and the girls Mythical Rank techniques and not Divine rank ones, not that he qas ungrateful but he was curious as she should have some.

’I am not so sure you can improve these my dear disciple, and even if you could the girls wouldn’t be able to use it, there’s a reason why they are all Mythical Rank even if I could give Divine Rank ones.’ Carmilla voice sounded in his mind amd before he could ask she explained.

’It’s because Divine Rank is for the Divine realms and even if you somehow used it, to use a divine Rank technique made by another is crippling yourself in the best case, and becoming their eternal slaves in the worst.’ She said, as he gasped mentally.

’So don’t try to cultivate anything higher than Divine Rank unless you made the technique from the ground up, and just knowing the technique is enough to end you.’ She finally said.

’Also the girls need to do it themselves, you can help but they know themselves the best.’ Hearing this Lucien heaved glad he hadn’t done anything before he get to know Carmilla otherwise he wouldn’t know how he died or become someone’s dog.

Seeing him thinking, Carmilla moved to the next technique, which was for Seraphina.

[Lilith Dreamheart Scripture (Mythical Rank)]

”This feels like it was made for Succubi, it even has the Lilith Family’s name in it.” Seraphina said as she accepted it, her eyes lighting up at the manual.

The cover of the manual was pink in color with the heart shaped tip of the Succubus tail and Demon wings beside it.

”It should,” Carmilla said. ”Pried it loose from an insufferable Succubus Goddess I happen to know. It complements your bloodline without forcing you to lean on it for everything, you’ll grow your own strength while your desire and dream affinities develop alongside it.”

Seraphina hugged the book to her chest. ”I’ll make good use of it. Thank you, Lady Carmilla.”

”I know you will and call me big sis.” Carmilla’s smile warmed as she floated over to Seraphina and patted her head.

”And perhaps one day you’ll be able to cook for me in person, instead of secondhand through the Lucien.”

”You could’ve just asked for that outright.” Lucien glanced at her.

”Where’s the fun in that?”

Last was Evelisse and her new cultivation technique.

[Twilight Genesis Scripture (Mythical Rank)]

Evelisse stared at it like Carmilla had just handed her the crown jewels, the cover was half black and half white with the opposite color angel wings in them.

”This is for me?”

”Of course.” ℯ

”A Mythical-Rank technique?”

”Yes.”

”And I don’t have to pay for it?”

”No?”

Evelisse clutched the manual to her chest like it might be repossessed. ”You’re the best big sis!”

She practically grabbed and pulled Carmilla into her, Carmilla laughed, delighted and full of fallen angel.

”Ahaha! That’s right my little sister’s! Big sister takes care of her little sisters!”

Lucien watched, something warm settling in his chest.

”I’ll work hard with this, and get my snacks.” Evelisse said looking at Lucien.

”...And I’ll get strong enough to protect everyone too.” She murmured.

Lucien’s smile softened.

”We’ll work on that together.”

Breakfast wound down not long after with three new cultivation technique manuals, one new skill, well two including the investment reward and a pile of affinity revelations nobody had seen coming, not a bad morning’s work, all things considered.

”There, one problem solved, now time to gey to work girl’s, can’t stay F Rank forever, big sis is waiting.” Carmilla looked thoroughly pleased with herself.

Lucien leaned back in his chair.

’One problem solved, sure and about six more waiting in line behind it.’

His cultivation was sitting at B-Rank waiting for resetting, his wives had three brand new techniques and zero foundation to run them on yet.

Somewhere in the lower floors of the Bloodmoon Ruins, a demon was still hunting a target who’d already slipped past him entirely, Malrith probably.

He hadn’t forgotten the dagger at the Floor Five exit, or what followed it, and Lucien still had no real idea how much the man amd his master actually knew about him.

’Eventually I’ll have to go back down there and settle that, after doing everything here.’

He looked across the table, where Aurelia was already flipping through her new scripture while drinking her tea.

Seraphina was tracing the cover of hers with careful fingers, and Evelisse back to stuffing her cheeks, this time with the berries Seraphina had set aside for her.

’Her stuffed cheeks look quite cute.’ He thought lokking at Evelisse as a squirrel came to mind.

’Now I’ve got to rebuild my cultivation and get strong again, then go deal with what I am pretty sure is Malrith.’

’One step at a time.’

’But the fun part is making sure that the next steps don’t take too long, can’t leave the face slapping for later, now can I?’
