Cultivation: Starting from a Mortal Bone

Perhaps, back in that little room in the Outer City of Lin Xian City, Lin Shuishui had already become inseparable from Qin Yu.

Even though Qin Yu waited until she grew up to cultivate with her.

In her heart, she had long since considered herself Qin Yu’s woman, so she felt no need to avoid being close to him at all.

After all, even in the mundane world, you’d never see a brother-in-law coaxing his sister-in-law to sleep, would you?!

And this situation lasted for several years.

From this, it’s clear Qin Yu wasn’t a man lacking self-restraint either.

”Brother-in-law!”

Lin Shuishui jumped up, flinging herself into his arms and clinging to him around the neck.

Qin Yu naturally wrapped his arms around her slender waist, the corners of his mouth lifting into a gentle smile.

Lin Shuishui’s smile was pure and healing, so much so that Qin Yu was happy to spend endless time playing with the little girl, even wandering leisurely around the Immortal Sect with her.

Would other cultivators ever waste time on such things?

So, even in the eyes of his own Guardian Yan Yu, he was quite the unorthodox cultivator.

”Almost ready for Foundation Establishment?”

Qin Yu took a moment to sense her, discovering that the little girl from before was now already at the peak of Qi Refining.

After all, she lived on Sect Leader Peak, and cultivated Spirit Level Techniques—her only shortcoming was that her Root Bone hadn’t caught up; otherwise, her cultivation would progress even faster.

”Mhm.”

Lin Shuishui’s eyes curved into crescent moons as she smiled. ”Elder Sister Ruyu said, if I had Spirit Bone, I could break through to Foundation Establishment at any moment.”

As she spoke, her gaze towards Qin Yu was a little sticky and tender, her voice soft as glutinous rice, ”Brother-in-law, why don’t we go improve my Root Bone?”

Honestly, who could refuse such a sweet, delicate beauty’s request?!

”Still calling me brother-in-law?”

In the past, Qin Yu had never asked her to change how she addressed him.

After all, every time Lin Shuishui called him brother-in-law, it actually... was more effective.

”Hm?”

Lin Shuishui was instead startled, looking at him in confusion.

”Call me husband.”

Qin Yu gently pinched her smooth, soft cheek.

”Hu... Husband?”

Though it was just a title, when she truly said it aloud, an unprecedented flutter rippled through Lin Shuishui’s heart.

Her eyes trembled ever so slightly, and when she looked at Qin Yu, endless tenderness filled her gaze.

”Husband.”

Calling it again, it rolled off her tongue more naturally.

Qin Yu lowered his head and, gazing at his petite wife, could not restrain himself—he bent down and captured her tender lips.

At the same time, Lin Shuishui clung even tighter to him, as if she wanted to melt into Qin Yu’s very body.

After a long while, the two finally pulled apart a little.

Lin Shuishui leaned into his ear, whispering, ”Husband, Shuishui wants... to improve her Root Bone.”

Of course, Qin Yu would fulfill her wish.

Even when changing her into new clothes, she never left Qin Yu’s arms, simply...

clinging onto him.

...

The night soon fell.

When Lin Shuishui’s Emotion Point reached a peak, at last, the flame within Qin Yu seemed to absorb something, suddenly curling upwards.

The flame continued burning, and one by one, runes fell like stars, descending into Qin Yu’s body and seeming to fuse within him.

Mysteriously, he sank into a state of ethereal enlightenment.

In a daze, he seemed no longer within the house, not even within the Cyan Mountain Sect.

Before his eyes unfolded mountains and rivers, dazzling stars. He stood alone in the void, eyes tightly closed, breathing long and slow, as if resonating with the pulse of heaven and earth.

Suddenly, the skies filled with black clouds, thunder rumbled, and streaks of lightning tore through the endless night like the whips of enraged gods, lashing without restraint.

Qin Yu remained unmoved, yet his perception within surged like tidal waves. He felt he could hear every raindrop fall, sense every stream of wind as it slipped by.

The earth trembled, rich auras gushed from the depths below, intertwining with the storm above, painting a majestic anomaly of heaven and earth.

No one knew how much time passed—it might have been a day, a year, or hundreds and thousands of years gone by.

Within Qin Yu’s heart, a strange and unnameable excitement rippled to the surface.

It was as if, within this chaotic world, he clarified the hazy boundary between man and heaven and earth.

Essence is earth.

Qi is spirit.

Spirit is heaven.

Earth: grand and boundless, mother of all things.

Spirit: like the swirling wind, the falling rain.

Spirit: ever-changing as the celestial phenomena, clouds rising and dispersing, sun climbing, moon sinking.

At first glance, the three seem separate, without connection, but in truth, they are the root of the birth of all things and the operation of heaven and earth.

The human body is like heaven and earth.

Essence, qi, and spirit, though different in form within the body, actually circulate according to the same rules as heaven and earth.

Qin Yu had misunderstood something.

He had tried to force spirit, qi, and essence to merge by brute strength—naturally, progress was slow, difficult to accomplish. In truth, each should follow their own way, as per heaven and earth, thus achieving harmonious symbiosis, constant perpetuity.

A sudden realization rose from deep within Qin Yu’s heart.

So that’s how it is.

...

Yan Yu was in her own room, watching with great interest.

She seemed to enjoy watching Qin Yu interact differently with each of his Dao Companions.

Then, what kind does she herself like?

Yan Yu paused, lost in thought.

She didn’t like anything. She was the Flame Guard of the all-powerful Empress, above all, never needing to experience such things.

Only, now she was Qin Yu’s Guardian.

If Qin Yu wished her to bear his children, should she accept, or refuse?!

Beneath the mask, Yan Yu’s eyes filled with confusion.

She must consult Elder Sister Yan Zhi.

”Hm?!”

Suddenly.

She seemed to sense something, and in an instant, her spirit focused on Qin Yu.

Strangely, she felt Qin Yu had entered some sort of state of enlightenment.

Enlightenment?!

A Golden Core Cultivator—enlightening upon the Dao?

Yet, faintly, she felt Qin Yu’s presence shift in subtle, profound ways, as if merging into heaven and earth itself.

This state did not last long, merely a fleeting instant.

Everything happened so quickly that, if not for the change in Qin Yu’s Qi Mechanism, Yan Yu would have doubted it happened at all.

A Golden Core Cultivator attaining enlightenment, fine.

But for it to truly happen in a single blink of an eye?!

Isn’t that just too unbelievable?

Yan Yu recalled her own enlightenment of Heaven and Earth Dao Rhyme, or more precisely, comprehension of Heaven and Earth Laws.

It was the longest period of her cultivation, costing her two and a half years to grasp but a wisp of the Heaven and Earth Laws.

Even so, Elder Sister Yan Zhi had praised her, and she had received the Empress’s reward.

But Qin Yu?!

Could it be... his perception actually surpasses hers?

After all, she possessed Top Grade Dao Bone!

Is her perception actually inferior to a Junior Cultivator with Lower Grade Dao Bone?
