Cultivation: Starting from a Mortal Bone

Root Bone hasn’t improved.

Yet, even from a distance, Su Xihe could still keenly sense the surging Qi and Blood Power inside Qin Yu—rushing and roaring like a great river in flood.

This guy, does he really have a hidden illness?!

The Sect Leader couldn’t help but feel suspicious in her heart.

Over the past days, she’d asked Qin Yu multiple times whether he needed elixirs to heal his internal troubles, but he always gently declined, only asking for the most common healing medicines.

Thinking of this, she already began to scheme in her heart.

Even if she had to pay a considerable price, she was determined to find some rare Spirit Medicine for Qin Yu, to shore up his last weakness.

However, before that, she’d better observe him a bit more.

She wasn’t sure whether Qin Yu felt any sense of belonging to Cyan Mountain Sect.

If you want to keep someone, you have to offer what they like.

Normally, Cultivators all yearn for better Cultivation Techniques, resources... and so on.

But, Qin Yu seems to be a little different.

This guy actually lived outside Lin County’s Outer City for over twenty years for the sake of his Dao Companion.

That shows, if you want to win his heart and keep him, there’s only one way... the Beauty Trap?!

Su Xihe glanced at Liu Zixiao beside her.

This good sister of hers was actually a rare beauty as well, and moreover, Liu Zixiao had a strong ”aunty” vibe about her.

Some might even call it a stepmom aura.

This kind of charm is absolutely irresistible to many men.

Thinking about Qin Yu already having a taste for that, he’d probably like this too?!

And besides, Liu Zixiao is one of their own, so there’d be no fear of her switching sides or anything.

Not bad, not bad.

Liu Zixiao sensed her gaze, and for some reason, she got a feeling as if she was about to be sold out by her bestie.

Next, Qin Yu began cultivating as usual.

As expected, after his Spiritual Power broke through to the Refining stage, his speed at absorbing and refining Spiritual Qi instantly doubled!

At this rate, he’d probably be able to break through to Foundation Establishment in about a year.

Seeing him get on the right track, Su Xihe shot Liu Zixiao a look, and the two left the room one after the other.

They walked to the front courtyard.

Su Xihe hadn’t even opened her mouth when Liu Zixiao blurted out, ”Sect Leader, Qin Yu’s talent is simply monstrous! No matter what, we must think of a way to keep him at Cyan Mountain Sect!”

The Sect Leader strongly agreed.

Just as she was about to speak, Liu Zixiao continued, ”That Qin Yu, willing to remain outside the Immortal Sect for his Dao Companion’s sake, must be a deeply loyal and affection person.”

”He doesn’t look down on his Dao Companion just because she has poor Root Bone. Clearly, he’s truly sincere, without a shred of falsehood.”

The Sect Leader nodded in deep agreement.

Liu Zixiao’s lips parted, but she pressed on, ”However, the way he picks is picky as hell. His Dao Companions may have average talent, but every single one is so beautiful it’s almost a crime—real stunners.”

The Sect Leader nodded again, feeling quite the same.

Then, all of a sudden, Liu Zixiao’s tone changed, smiling brightly as she looked over: ”Sect Leader, you’re the undisputed top beauty in all of Yunlan Domain, aren’t you?”

”???”

That was when Su Xihe finally realized what was going on.

Damn.

She’d just been plotting for her good sister, and now her good sister had eyes on her!

Unbelievable!

Well, since it’s like this, don’t blame her for being ruthless.

”Liu Zixiao!”

She suddenly turned stern, her face solemn.

”Sect Leader.”

”Qin Yu is exceptionally gifted, and his personal safety is of utmost importance. I’ve decided to assign an Elder as his Guardian!”

Su Xihe kept a poker face, but Liu Zixiao’s heart immediately sank.

Sure enough.

”Zixiao, you are the one I trust the most!”

”Sect Leader...”

”It’s settled, then. At night you can also keep an eye on him, just in case he slacks off in his cultivation.”

”Ah?!”

Liu Zixiao was stunned, but the Sect Leader leisurely walked back into the room as if nothing had happened.

”Sect Leader, Qin Yu has several Dao Companions! Isn’t it inappropriate for me to supervise him...”

She ran after her.

Qin Yu was already living on the main peak; did he really need a Guardian? Besides, she knew exactly what her bestie was plotting.

Of course Su Xihe wouldn’t force her.

But if Liu Zixiao refused, then who else would be more suitable?!

This choice was crucial!

The days that followed seemed the same as always, yet in reality, whenever Qin Yu glanced at the Sect Leader, she didn’t get mad anymore.

He was just her disciple, after all. Just a glance.

That should be pretty normal, right?

Besides, he didn’t have any inappropriate thoughts, and he was still full of respect and awe. Being too harsh would be going too far.

No need to push good people away, right?!

...

In the blink of an eye, another ten days passed.

Dong! Dong! Dong!

On this day, inside the peaceful Immortal Sect, deep and powerful bell chimes rang out, echoing over a thousand miles.

The Golden Core Banquet had begun!

This was a major event for Cyan Mountain Sect!

At the foot of the main peak, Cyan Mountain’s Inner and Outer Disciples were already packed in tight, all eyes on the Main Hall.

Qin Yu had arrived early; as a Core Disciple, he stood right behind Liu Zixiao, in front of the Main Hall.

When the last lingering chime faded into the air, the Sect Leader, Su Xihe, together with the Saintess, descended gracefully like goddesses from heaven, landing on the layered steps of the Main Hall.

Today, the Sect Leader was dressed in ceremonial robes—sumptuous, but not gaudy. Bathed in the morning sun, she seemed to glow with soft golden light, dazzlingly beautiful, almost unearthly.

Qin Yu thought of a few lines of poetry:

”None could match Chang’e in the moon,

How could a heavenly fairy compare?

Her courtly beauty is truly unique,

Surely the Queen Mother descended to the Jasper Pool.”

Her eyes were deep and clear, sweeping across the audience, lips lifted in a gentle yet dignified smile.

Arm in arm with Su Xiyue, she walked forward at a steady, unhurried pace, an invisible aura of power and nobility making hearts tremble in awe.

Forget disciples—even the assembled Elders inclined their heads slightly as a show of respect.

”Today is the Saintess’s Golden Core Banquet. The whole sect shall celebrate!”

The Sect Leader’s tone was soft, but her voice spread throughout Cyan Mountain Sect.

”Congratulations to the Sect Leader!”

”Congratulations to the Saintess!”

All the disciples bellowed as one.

Then, Su Xihe and Su Xiyue entered the Main Hall, followed by the Elders, and finally the Core Disciples.

During this time, quite a few eyes landed on Qin Yu.

He was just too unfamiliar; no one had seen him before, or even heard of him.

When it was time to take seats, Qin Yu still sat behind Liu Zixiao, so many assumed he was her Direct Disciple.

Only, some of the Elders frowned a little, looking displeased.

Liu Zixiao doesn’t even know Alchemy—wasn’t the Sect Leader just playing favorites and wasting the lad’s talent?!

But in a setting like this, no one dared say a thing; what happened after, though, was another story.

After that, each peak presented their congratulatory gifts for the Saintess, Su Xiyue.

Qin Yu’s gaze drifted toward Fairy Xiyue.

Dressed all in white, she was just as ethereal and pure as ever, like a frost lotus that wasn’t stained by the least speck of dust.

A whole month! For a whole month, Fairy Xiyue hadn’t come to see him, and his Romantic Points hadn’t budged either. Qin Yu was starting to suspect she’d forgotten all about him.

Was she planning to just lift her skirt and play ignorant?!
