The Urban Medical Martial Immortal

Chapter 871: Chapter 866: The Plot Shouldn’t Be Like This (First Update)

Changsheng Medical Hall, Lin Tian sat alone inside.

Once his mobile phone was fully charged, he turned it on, preparing to call his family.

But just as he picked up his phone, a rapid ringtone went off instead.

It was his mother, Xiao Lin, calling in.

”Lin Tian, you rotten kid, what have you been up to? Do you know how many days your phone has been off? Are you trying to worry us sick?”

As soon as the call connected, Xiao Lin’s scolding came through loud and clear, ”Where are you right now?”

Listening to his mother’s anxious and angry words over the phone, Lin Tian felt a warmth in his heart.

At the same time.

Lin Tian also felt a bit guilty.

”Mom, don’t worry, I’m fine, it’s just that my phone ran out of battery!”

Lin Tian comforted her, saying, ”I’m in Liiu Yuan City right now, I’ll leave by tomorrow at the latest. But I’ve arranged to go to the East Continent with a friend, and after a few days there, I’ll head to Yanjing!”

”Hmph, you rotten kid, I really don’t know what you’re so busy with now! The education department in Guangnan called a couple of days ago, saying they wanted you to attend the Southern Continent’s top scorer awards ceremony, but they just couldn’t find you, so they had to give up... your dad’s been sulking about it because of that! He wanted others to see you at your glorious best, and he could share in the pride...”

Xiao Lin complained for a while, her tone gradually becoming heavier, followed by a long sigh, ”These years have been hard on your dad! Now returning to Yanjing, he still has to endure countless cold stares and words... but we’re fine with that, what’s important is you. We’re afraid that when you come to Yanjing, you’ll have to face those people’s sneers and taunts...”

”Mom, don’t overthink it. Didn’t we make it through all these years? What’s most important now is that you and dad take good care of your health! I’ll deal with the rest when I come back to Yanjing!”

Lin Tian silently sighed, a glint of cold light flashing in his eyes. Those who dared taunt him, he could sometimes ignore, but if it was aimed at his parents, he absolutely couldn’t turn a blind eye.

After a pause, Lin Tian continued, ”How are Xiaoqing and Tang Ge doing?”

”They... they’re all fine!”

Xiao Lin’s tone noticeably hesitated, after a brief pause, her tone shifted slightly to one of resignation, ”Let’s not talk about your sister and Tang Ge for now. This time, your mom called about Jii Xiaoyao.”

”Oh, she’s back?”

Lin Tian raised an eyebrow and responded.

”She directly approached your... grandfather... he agreed, but she wants to personally annul the engagement with you, and wants you to agree in person. She’s probably heading to Bin City to find you... it’s all our fault, your dad and I!”

Xiao Lin sighed, her words laced with guilt, while comforting Lin Tian, ”Xiao Tian, just agree to her wishes. I have to say, that girl from the Jii family is indeed exceptional, and given what happened with your father and me back then... your grandfather probably doesn’t have the face to fight for it... your grandfather has already given that girl your phone number, you might get a call from her soon!”

On hearing this, Lin Tian fell silent for a moment before saying, ”Mom, let me handle it. I’ll agree to her annulment. But after that, I’ll make sure Dad and you stand proudly in front of those people, so those so-called elite families and influential figures will be clambering to flatter you both...”

”You silly child, what nonsense are you talking about...”

Xiao Lin interrupted Lin Tian, laughing as she scolded him.

The mother and son chatted for a while longer before hanging up the call.

After putting down his phone, Lin Tian took out the jar that he had acquired from Hong Qi, which was shaped like a skull.

Saying it’s a jar isn’t quite accurate.

Because the lid on top couldn’t be opened.

The fact that it survived Lin Tian’s attacks without being damaged shows just how tough this skull jar is.

Lin Tian fiddled with it for a while, aside from the somewhat eerie skull on top, there were no other peculiarities.

He released his Divine Sense to envelop it, which then easily seeped inside.

”Huh, this is a Storage Treasure! It even has Hong Qi’s Divine Sense imprint inside...”

Lin Tian was shocked, realizing the skull jar was indeed a Storage Device, one even better than the Storage Bag he had on him, and that it could fit inside a Storage Bag, which was simply incredible, ”The heritage of the Holy Gu Sect is no joke!”

The Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures that can be crafted into space treasures are extremely special.

For instance, crafting Storage Rings and Storage Bags requires Space Stones and Space Spirit Woods as basic materials, and making them is quite troublesome.

But crafting a Storage Magical Treasure with skull bones, this was Lin Tian’s first time seeing such a thing.

However, Lin Tian wasn’t interested in researching it; he was planning to see what was inside the skull jar.

But just then, the phone rang again, interrupting him.

Putting down the skull jar, Lin Tian picked up his phone and found it was an unfamiliar number.

Jii Xiaoyao?

Lin Tian was inwardly puzzled, yet he answered the call.

”Are you Lin Tian?”

Jii Xiaoyao’s voice came from the other end, crisp and melodious, like an oriole venturing from the valley, though it also carried a touch of coldness.

”Yes, that’s me!”

Lin Tian responded, then asked, ”May I ask who you are?”

He had already guessed that it was probably Jii Xiaoyao, but wanted to be sure.

”I am Jii Xiaoyao!”

Upon confirming it was Lin Tian, Jii Xiaoyao’s voice turned even colder, letting out a cold snort, ”Listen, give me your current address, I’ll come find you myself. I don’t want to explain over the phone only for you to cling afterward...”

”You don’t need to explain, I understand the reason for your call!”

Lin Tian interrupted Jii Xiaoyao, his voice turning cold as well, ”You don’t need to come looking for me. I’ve never had any attachment to you, so now, I, Lin Tian, am officially annulling our engagement! Just tear up that marriage contract and let’s have nothing to do with each other! That way, you can be free and pursue your ideal prince!”

On these words.

Standing at Yanjing International Airport, Jii Xiaoyao couldn’t help but be stunned.

He broke off the engagement himself?

Wasn’t I supposed to say it myself?

Jii Xiaoyao was somewhat unsure, thinking she had misheard, ”Are you sure?”

”Of course! Let’s settle it like this, goodbye! No, not goodbye, not ever again!”

Lin Tian firmly answered, pursing his lips as he hung up the call.

In the waiting hall of Yanjing International Airport.

Jii Xiaoyao stared with wide eyes at her phone, which was emitting a busy signal, utterly incredulous.

”I haven’t even said anything yet, and he hung up on me?”

Jii Xiaoyao felt some anger swirl in her heart, very displeased. From childhood to adulthood, no one had ever treated her with such disregard, with such cold indifference, much less hung up on her.

But, then she recalled Lin Tian’s words, and the look on her pretty face suddenly froze as she murmured in amazement, ”Wait, wasn’t I supposed to be the one to break off the engagement? How did he turn it around? This isn’t how the story was supposed to go...”

Jii Xiaoyao had previously prepared all sorts of ways to persuade Lin Tian.

And after making the call, she thought Lin Tian would cling impossibly.

In her mind, the scenario was that after she brought up annulling the engagement, Lin Tian would stubbornly disagree no matter what.

Then, she would go to Bin City with Tang Huachen and, seeing her captivating beauty, Lin Tian would be entranced and cling even more.

Then she would leverage Tang Huachen to demoralize Lin Tian, making him back down in sorrow upon seeing the insurmountable gap between them.

But now, the scenario was entirely beyond her imagination!
