Chapter 858: Chapter 853: Holy Master Hong Qi Emerges (Second Update)

Break off the engagement!

Jii Yongsheng and the others had considered this for a long time, but all remained silent and never brought it up.

After all, in their youth, Jii Yongsheng and the old master of the Lin Family were considered friends, and they didn’t want to lose face.

Meanwhile, the Lin Family seemed to hold a similar attitude, choosing to forget about this matter.

The reason being, Jii Xiaoyao was too outstanding!

The person Jii Xiaoyao was engaged to from childhood is Lin Tian, from a small village in Phoenix Town, Bin City, a place impoverished in Guangnan Province—they were completely unmatched!

Indeed, Lin Tian is a descendant of the Lin Family, fulfilling the norms of equal family status.

But his background is clear for all to see!

Furthermore, Lin Tian’s parents were expelled from the family due to a privately arranged marriage, a scandalous affair that was quite the sensation in Yanjing back then.

However, as time passed, people gradually forgot about it.

Regarding Jii Xiaoyao and Lin Tian’s engagement, even the Jii Family and the Lin Family shelved it and no longer mentioned it.

Even if the Lin Family remembered this engagement, no one would want to bring it up again.

Because they couldn’t bear such a humiliation!

The old scandal might resurface with this engagement and be exposed to everyone once more.

Unfortunately, Jii Xiaoyao now brought it up proactively, wanting to resolve this issue!

Since entering Star Mountain and practicing the Supreme Cultivation Method, how could her vision still be limited to Yanjing or the mere Mortal World?

When she learned that she had a childhood engagement and that her fiancé hailed from a small village in the Mortal World, she was already determined to dissolve the engagement!

How could she tolerate her future partner being a mundane, ordinary mortal?

Even in Yanjing, among the younger generation, those whom she, Jii Xiaoyao, deemed worthy to look at didn’t exceed the number that could be counted on two hands!

Therefore, she wanted to dissolve the engagement!

And she was completely resolute!

Now, taking advantage of this return to Yanjing, she wanted to resolve the engagement before returning to the sect.

”Grandpa, Mom, Dad, I must dissolve this engagement!”

In the study, Jii Xiaoyao saw her grandpa Jii Yongsheng and her parents frowning in silence, so she spoke up again.

”Have you really decided? Won’t you meet your fiancé first? Maybe he’s a very outstanding boy; after all, there’s news from the Lin Family that the little guy became the top scorer in the Southern Continent’s college entrance exam!”

Mother Yun Xiaoran had a slight bitter smile as she looked at Jii Xiaoyao and said, ”Moreover, this childhood engagement was decided by your grandpa and Old Master Lin after a bout of drinking. Now asking your grandpa to annul it, how can this be? But, my daughter, no matter what you decide, Mom supports you!”

”Hmph, the top scorer in the college entrance exam? What era is this, to still be proud of that! Don’t even mention the Southern Continent’s top scorer; even if he were the national top scorer, he wouldn’t catch the eye of me, Jii Xiaoyao!”

Jii Xiaoyao haughtily lifted her snowy chin, disdainful, and said, ”Mom supports me, so naturally, Dad should also support me! As for Grandpa, if Grandpa finds it hard to speak, I will personally go!”

”Of course, your father is on your side too!”

Jii Yuanqing nodded lightly with a smile, then turned to look at Old Man Jii Yongsheng, and said, ”Dad, why not just let Xiaoyao handle it herself? After all, we always thought your and Old Master Lin’s arrangement was inappropriate. Now, you’ve seen for yourself the gap between Xiaoyao and the Lin Family boy—forcing them together won’t bring happiness! Merely being a top scorer is meaningless? Xiaoyao’s husband must at least be a favored prodigy of the Immortal Mountain Sect!”

”Grandpa, exactly!”

Jii Xiaoyao looked expectantly at Jii Yongsheng and said proudly, ”To become my fiancé, he must at least be a prodigy of Star Mountain, like Senior Brother Shi Baitian, Senior Brother Xu Jingling, or Senior Brother Jian Sanxiao... In any case, absolutely not someone as ordinary as Lin Tian! Not to mention anything else, just in terms of vision, he and I aren’t even in the same world!”

”You three... ”

Jii Yongsheng, who had been silent, shook his head with a wry smile, then looked up at Jii Xiaoyao, with a face full of doting affection, and said, ”You little demon! I was at fault too, being too hasty back then! However, you want me, your grandpa, to bring up breaking off the engagement to the Lin Family? Why don’t you call your Grandpa Lin yourself and see what he says? Dare to do that?”

”Fine! Since Grandpa agreed, I’ll look for an opportunity to call Grandpa Lin now!”

Jii Xiaoyao’s beautiful eyes shone brightly, she said with joy.

”By the way, where’s your master? Wasn’t she supposed to return with you?”

It seemed Jii Yongsheng just remembered and asked.

Jii Xiaoyao’s expression became solemn, and she said seriously, ”Master said she had important matters to deal with in the Southwest, so she would come to the house a few days later!”

She didn’t mention the Holy Gu Sect, as her family probably wouldn’t understand even if told.

After chatting for a while in the study, Jii Xiaoyao left cheerfully and returned to her room, where she directly called Old Master Lin, Lin Zhenxiu.

However, she was still quite anxious.

Lin Zhenxiu was famous for his authority, and when it came to proposing the annulment, Jii Xiaoyao didn’t know how he would react.

”Grandpa Lin, it’s me, I’m Xiaoyao!”

When the call connected, Jii Xiaoyao hesitated for a moment before speaking.

”Xiaoyao, you’re calling about your engagement with Lin Tian, aren’t you?”

Lin Zhenxiu seemed to have anticipated it, as he replied directly and indifferently, ”Here’s the thing, I’ll give you Lin Tian’s number, and you can contact him directly. As long as he agrees, your engagement ends here! But he’s not in Yanjing right now, still over in the Southern Continent, and it might take a while before he returns...”

”Thank you, Grandpa Lin... I’ll find him and talk myself!”

Hearing Lin Zhenxiu’s words, the heavy stone on Jii Xiaoyao’s heart suddenly fell, and she breathed a sigh of relief.

After getting Lin Tian’s phone number, she decided to prepare and head to the Southern Continent to personally get Lin Tian to agree to end the engagement.

In her view, simply communicating over the phone might lead to Lin Tian clinging endlessly, so she wanted to go in person to show Lin Tian the gap between them and let him retreat upon seeing the difficulties.

At the same time.

It was also a good time for her to meet up with her master.

Meanwhile.

Jii Xiaoyao’s master, Weng Xiyun, had crossed into Guixi Province and arrived in Liiu Yuan City, preparing to inquire about the current situation in the Southwest and the Holy Gu Sect.

Broken Bridge Ridge.

Before Weng Xiyun could find it, Zhou Zhenjun and others from Yelang Valley appeared first.

Zhou Zhenjun brought a hundred strong men from Yelang Valley to rush there.

”Uuo Anteng, you big traitor, willingly becoming someone else’s running dog, coward! And the Ning Family, unworthy of being nurtured by our Yelang Valley back in the day!”

At the foot of Broken Bridge Ridge, Zhou Zhenjun glared angrily at the former Great Elder of Yelang Valley, Uuo Anteng, and members of the Ning Family, then looked at the cultivators of the Flying Cloud Inn and Wind Mountain sects, sneering, ”Zhong Xiangdi, Cheen Haotian, you may bear the status of Sect Master, but you don’t have the backbone of one, utterly ridiculous!”

However, both Zhong Xiangdi and Cheen Haotian only sneered silently.

On the contrary, Uuo Anteng sneered and shouted angrily, ”Zhou Zhenjun, we are merely those who adapt to the times! Without life, what use is that backbone? I see, sooner or later, we’ll be reduced to dust!”

Buzz~

Suddenly, a booming sound was heard.

The people stopped talking and followed the sound with everyone else to see.

It was the fog rolling violently above Broken Bridge Ridge, and the surging aura sweeping through the sky.

”Holy Master Hong Qi of the Holy Sect is out of seclusion!”

Zhou Zhenjun’s expression changed drastically, and he exclaimed, but as he glanced behind him, he seemed to be waiting for someone to appear, and thinking of that someone, a slight calm appeared on his face.
