The Urban Medical Martial Immortal

Chapter 790: Chapter 786 A Pot of Congee (First update!)

Lin Tian and Leng Shuangning’s group of vehicles were stopped.

Several off-road vehicles were stretched across the entrance of the road leading into Tusk City, blocking the entire way.

Next to these vehicles, a group of people stood with guns at the ready, each with a threatening air about them.

Not just Lin Tian’s group, but several other cars moving toward the city were forced to stop there as well.

Clearly, there were others who had driven through the night to Tusk City, only to be held up at this point.

These people reluctantly pulled over to a stop.

Some got out of their cars to talk with the leaders of the gang, seeming to plead for permission to leave, their faces filled with fear.

However, the bold ones negotiated and handed over a substantial sum of money, smoothly making their way into Tusk City.

But those wanting to leave clearly didn’t want to pay, yet still wished to turn back.

Unfortunately, the gang didn’t let them go, insisting on payment.

Under the menacing barrels of the guns, they ultimately had no choice but to painfully fork over their cash, but they didn’t proceed into Tusk City and instead turned around to leave the way they had come.

Why enter the place and lose their lives if something had obviously gone wrong here?

But this didn’t mean everyone caved in to the armed thugs.

Some broke out into a fight, like a burly young man who grabbed a dark metal stick from his pickup truck. A woman behind him, both shocked and frightened, tried to hold him back, but failed. Shaking off the woman, the young man aimed a heavy blow at the head of one of the gangsters.

In his view, as lawless as these people were, they wouldn’t dare shoot!

Bang~

Yet, a terrifying gunshot suddenly rang out; the young man was shot in the leg, falling to the ground as severe pain made him scream involuntarily.

“Han… Brother…”

The woman screamed, rushing over to lift and drag him away, her eyes terror-stricken as she looked at the gang. She shouted loudly, “You… you’re murdering and plundering! Is there no law and order anymore?”

The woman, her face filled with horror, made an effort to drag her husband back while loudly reproaching them.

“Law and order? You must be here to purchase goods at Tusk City, right? I thought you’d be regulars would be more informed about this area!”

The leader of the group was a One-eyed Dragon, wearing an eyepatch, his lone, malicious eye fixed on the young couple as he sneered, “In Tusk City, every word from Tusk Gang is the law! This road is sealed off for the next few days, entry allowed, exit is not! Since you’ve come this far, you all must pay to leave! Otherwise, we’ll have no choice but to treat you as spies from other Underworld forces and detain you temporarily!”

Underworld!

Hearing the gang leader’s words, the couple’s faces were stricken with panic.

They had heard rumors about the Martial World, those fearsome powers that lurk on the fringes of society, not easily encountered by ordinary people.

Even though some were aware that Tusk City was controlled by three major underworld forces, those people were ostensibly running various companies and corporations in public, respectable merchants by day.

For the couple, this was their first encounter with such brazen activity.

Armed roadblocks demanding money, on top of shooting someone.

At this moment.

They were truly frightened, and the woman hastily stammered, “We’ll pay, we’ll pay…”

Saying so, she dragged her husband into their vehicle, then prepared to get money to hand over.

As for the other people who hadn’t left, they took the couple’s misfortune as a lesson and no longer dared to defy the gang, obediently stepping forward to pay the toll. However, most of them didn’t continue towards Tusk City, choosing instead to turn their cars around and head back.

The gang leader had already said that for the next few days entries were permitted but exits were not, so if chaos had already erupted inside the city, wouldn’t going in be akin to seeking death?

Most preferred to leave.

“Mr. Lin, what should we do?”

Leng Shuangning rolled down the car window, turned her head toward Lin Tian, and spoke with some trepidation.

“I can cover the money for you, and you can take another road to escape, head to Dali City, and don’t go into Tusk City!”

Lin Tian glanced at the group of people, his eyebrows slightly furrowed. Tusk City seemed off, as if chaos had erupted. He immediately shook his head at Leng Shuangning and said, “You should leave Yundian Province overnight, don’t linger. As for the woman, if she hasn’t woken up, just place her in a hotel and go, otherwise, she will continue to bring you trouble!”

“Mr. Lin, I recognize the leader of that group. His name is He Jianguang, and in Tusk City, the underlings all call him Brother Guang! He is one of the capable generals of Tusk Gang leader Lei Chongtian.”

Song Manshan then turned his head toward Lin Tian and said, “Let me talk to them! We’ll go meet Lei Chongtian directly, perhaps we can uncover what you need!”

“Then go talk to them! Have them let Leng Shuangning and the others leave first!”

Lin Tian nodded. After Song Manshan got out of the car, he turned to Situ Xiu and asked, “You said earlier that you saved someone from Dragon Slayer Valley, who exactly was it?”

“The person I saved back then was a girl. She was chased by a fierce beast in the Tusk Forest and almost got eaten. I just happened to be passing by and rescued her.”

Situ Xiu replied cautiously when Lin Tian asked again, “The girl was very pretty, and kind too! At the time, I was also injured, and after I saved her, she treated my wounds. Overnight, I healed completely! Later on, I found out that she was a well-known pharmacist in the vicinity of Tusk City, she had saved many people in the past. Even members of Tusk Gang, Liangshan Gang, New Shida Gang, and others were among those she had helped. As such, even the lowliest thugs respected and treated this girl with courtesy!”

“It’s just that I’m not aware of where the girl lives. Many people don’t know either. They say her whereabouts are unpredictable, but she appears every weekend in Tusk City to treat the people here. So, if you want to find her fast, you’ll have to approach the three major gangs here. I did know Chi Helasa, the leader of the Southern Thailand Liangshan Gang, but since we’ve now encountered Tusk Gang’s people, and Manshan is familiar with them, we might as well go to them directly…”

Lin Tian listened quietly until Situ Xiu finished, then he nodded.

At that moment, a commotion arose from the other side, and the group pointed their guns at Song Manshan. He Jianguang, the leader across from him, watched Song Manshan with a cold sneer on his face, apparently spewing unpleasant words, which made Song Manshan’s face go ashen.

The sound of pistols being cocked sent the others into a panic as they rushed forward to pay and quickly left.

“Let’s go have a look!”

Lin Tian’s brow furrowed, and he got out of the car.

Situ Xiu hurriedly crawled out of the car, moving his body, which was as large as a giant ball, rolling over.

“What’s going on?”

Approaching, Lin Tian scanned He Jianguang and his company, then asked Song Manshan.

“Mr. Lin… I just tried to negotiate a pass for free, and this guy outrageously demanded a hundred thousand from each of us!”

Song Manshan said with an angry, flushed face.

“Song Manshan, I used to call you Brother Manshan to give you face!”

He Jianguang on the other side revealed a mocking smile and said coldly, “Do you think it’s still like the past? Don’t be naive! Either pay up or we’ll have to detain you all!”

“Is it just a hundred thousand? I’ll pay… Ten million, a round number for you!”

Lin Tian’s lips lifted slightly, a cold glint flashed in his eyes, and after asking He Jianguang for his bank account number, he transferred ten million. He then added, “However, I need you to take us to your Gang Leader Lei Chongtian, I need to see him about something!”

“Ha ha… This little brother really knows how to play! Unlike you, Song Manshan, you’re really regressing!”

He Jianguang, thrilled with the money, couldn’t stop grinning and laughed, “As for meeting our Gang Leader Lei Chongtian… Heh heh, sure!”

As he said this, He Jianguang’s gaze turned fiery when he looked at Lin Tian.

“You all should leave now, take this road to Dali City, don’t stay here!”

Lin Tian turned back, giving instructions to Leng Shuangning and the others before following in the car behind He Jianguang, with Situ Xiu and Song Manshan, into Tusk City.

However, once they entered the city, Lin Tian noticed that the streets were filled with speeding cars, and at many intersections, armed people were confronting each other.

Everyone and every vehicle that passed by on the street was fleeing in panic, far away.

The atmosphere in the city seemed to be at a breaking point, as if everything was in complete disarray.

Tusk City was in a lawless zone, and no one was there to stop what was happening in front of them.

“That’s Tusk Gang and Liangshan Gang’s people, looks like they’re on the verge of a conflict, just short of full-blown warfare…”

Song Manshan looked outside, took a deep breath, and said with some unease.
