One-Eyed Monster

Wizard Reed’s momentary composure made Igor and his companions tense, but the disparity in their strengths remained palpable, an obvious gap that would inevitably be noticed.

The calamity was inevitable. Although Wizard Reed did not understand the Inner World Spell, nor did he know what the World Setting Technique was, he possessed a wealth of combat experience. He knew that an anomaly, if it persisted, ceased to be an anomaly. Once he grew accustomed to this particular strangeness, he would slowly devise a way to dismantle it.

Wizard Reed’s state of mind wouldn’t fluctuate as wildly as Igor’s and his companions’. Although there would still be ups and downs, they wouldn’t be substantial. After all, he had completely embraced the Dark Arts. While certain things might trouble him, they would certainly not harm him.

Even though he was a bit disoriented at this moment, he hadn’t forgotten his mission. He suddenly realized he was acting somewhat out of pique, as if he had fallen right into the enemy’s trap. Reed had entirely lost the initiative and was playing to the enemy’s rhythm.

The loss of those Malice Spirit Entities in the sea was regrettable, but they were merely one part of his power. His slightly enhanced attack had been invisibly countered, but it was one of his few physically offensive moves. His formation was still effective, troubling his adversaries. If he continued applying pressure, he was sure to discern their location. Once he found them, things wouldn’t be so troublesome...

Wizard Reed shook his head. What had I been doing? Acting like a petulant child, trading blow for blow with the enemy—a truly immature display.

True, he had taken a hit back then and spat out a significant amount of blood. But blood was no longer a precious commodity to him. He continued to exist in this world through the Dark Arts, not relying on his original body.

The enemy’s provocation and mischief had clouded his judgment, causing him to regress to his former self—a terrifying prospect.

This meant he had fallen into the opponent’s trap, completely fooled by his own stupidity.

He couldn’t understand why his mind had suddenly become so naïve that he fell for simple provocations.

Perhaps things had gone too smoothly before, making his thoughts unnecessarily complicated, or perhaps he had simply been too eager...

Regardless, he had finally identified the crux of the problem.

As for that sun… it seemed its prolonged presence hadn’t significantly impacted him. It had merely affected his sea somewhat. That expanse of sea was merely a spell, nothing to be overly concerned about.

He could continue to control that sea. The strong winds, the towering waves, the Lightning, the dark clouds... these were all common elements of the sea. It wasn’t necessary to hide just because of that sun...

Wizard Reed began muttering the Mantra of the spell again. This spell was created by Willem. Within the sea, he could faintly sense traces of Boss Willem’s Spirit Power. Reed didn’t know how Boss Willem achieved this spell formation, but he could execute it perfectly.

If he weren’t capable of flawlessly executing this spell, he wouldn’t be the one entrusted with this mission, and Boss Willem wouldn’t have been willing to sacrifice the other three Black Crow leaders to obscure his true intentions.

Of course, he wouldn’t abandon his Obsidian Staff or his Soul Puppet.

However, all of this was Lord Willem’s arrangement. Although it appeared chaotic and haphazard, there was an underlying, subtle interplay of gains and losses.

Chaos was what the Black Crows always pursued and believed in. If everything went too smoothly, too according to plan, it wouldn’t be their way of doing things.

Wizard Reed looked up at the sun. Although it bathed the sea above in light, it inflicted no scorching heat or damage. This indicated that the sun couldn’t harm his physical body!

That is to say, the sun was specifically designed to counteract his sea, to limit this spell.

If the restricted spell was just deepened by another layer, everything would change once more.

The more chaotic it was, the more likely miracles were to happen.

We are a flock of directionless Black Crows, chasing all manner of flying birds and running beasts, foraging amidst the chaos!

This was something Willem often said to him. Reed cherished it, always regarding it as a classic.

It was time for some chaos.

This recent stretch of smooth progress had made him feel less like a member of the Black Crows. If things continued this way, he might forget that he belonged to the dark side and possessed incomparable power.

Weren’t those temporarily stationed Malice Spirit Entities under his control? The contracts they signed were no mere jest. They too could be used to create chaos...

Wizard Reed wrapped his cloak tightly around him. What he was about to do might be disorderly, but it would deal a significant blow to the opposition.

Enhancing the spell while unleashing his chaos—that was his true goal.

Watching the enemy’s large bird relentlessly tossing filler into the sea, Wizard Reed felt an indescribable exhilaration. Mere excitement was insufficient to describe his state of mind.

More intense! More chaotic! If we’re going to play, let’s play it out to the end! Since you’re so determined to fill this sea, then I shall oblige you!

Reed was reciting the incantations. He had already broken free of his predicament and was no longer hesitant.

From the opponent’s childish attack strategy, it was clear they had no intention of confronting him directly but were merely provoking him continuously.

Is this provocation amusing? Is it merely to infuriate me?

So naïve. Joy, anger, sorrow, happiness—such things belong to ordinary people and should not exist in a Dark Wizard.

I almost fell for their trick! It seems my erosion by darkness is still insufficient. This is something I must strengthen in the future.

As for the enemy’s location, it’s no longer that important. The entirety of Guru Mountain will soon be a domain of darkness.

The real chaos has only just begun.

Wizard Reed’s mind had completely cleared. The phase of frustration and anger was past, a consequence of the insurmountable gap in power.

No matter how determined and resilient Igor and the others were, they could not overcome this gap, even though their efforts had been commendable.

”Darkness, descend.” Wizard Reed closed his eyes. He quickly finished chanting the Mantra. Now, he had to disperse these Mantras throughout Guru Mountain. He would then unleash chaotic terror upon this mountain range.

All sorts of situations would arise amidst the chaos. His objective now was to use this chaos to create terror.
