One-Eyed Monster

He’s truly worthy of being the one chosen by the Great Mentor. So quick to accept new things! Joseph’s heart churned with excitement; clearly, he was quite satisfied with Igor’s performance.

Joseph and his group had previously received a notice from Xiso and had some understanding of the Great Mentor’s decision. They never doubted the Great Mentor’s judgment. Therefore, even when they saw the unimpressive young man beside Kadi, they didn’t have the slightest doubt. That youth is someone Great Mentor Guzan has taken a liking to; he must be different in some way.

Joseph couldn’t hide his excitement. It was as if his pain had suddenly dissipated, and nothing could hold him back anymore! This power, born from an unexpected delight, was extremely precious to him.

However, Joseph felt Kuren was likely even happier than he was.

Previously, Kuren had constantly complained in the mountains that the World Setting Technique was special, a product of the Great Mentor’s painstaking efforts. He had encouraged everyone on the mountain to learn this technique.

Initially, Kuren’s promotional efforts were quite effective. He helped those clueless about the World Setting Technique understand its nature, its characteristics, how to avoid falling into others’ World Settings, and so on. Kuren was very optimistic and forward-looking back then. After all, he had rid himself of the Bloodlust Spirit he had always wanted to shed and had successfully found his purpose. He was no longer a coward, idly fearing the Bloodlust Spirit would possess his body. Instead, he had transformed into an instructor for the World Setting Technique.

However, good times didn’t last. Kuren had underestimated his own comprehension. He believed his understanding was the weakest on the mountain because, after separating from the Bloodlust Spirit, he felt he was nothing. Yet, he was mistaken; his comprehension surpassed everyone else’s.

By the second phase, few people could easily grasp what he was trying to express. He would say ”east,” but others always thought he meant ”west.” This greatly confused Kuren. He even began to suspect issues with his own expressive abilities, feeling he lacked the skill. For this reason, he specifically went to Xiso for guidance.

Yet, even after learning from Xiso and returning, he still couldn’t make those who didn’t understand comprehend. This, to some extent, proved that the failure to promote the technique wasn’t due to his eloquence or their level of comprehension. Rather, it stemmed from issues inherent to the technique itself. Even if you grasped its principles and every detail, you still couldn’t learn it because you simply couldn’t integrate with it.

Illusion and reality are the foundations of the World Setting Technique. This is also a crucial reason why most people cannot grasp its essence. Mastering the World Setting Technique isn’t merely about understanding what constitutes illusion and reality; one must integrate with the very transformation between them. Discerning when something is real and when it is illusory—this is what many people cannot figure out.

The failure to promote the technique plunged Kuren into a state of depression. He would sigh whenever he saw people, lamenting that he would disappoint the Great Mentor’s earnest efforts and that the World Setting Technique would be lost under his stewardship. Although Great Mentor Guzan wasn’t overly concerned, Kuren treated this seemingly trivial matter as a heavy burden on his mind.

And now, in this cave, this safe house, a stranger had actually comprehended the Spirit Connection aspect of the World Setting Technique purely through his own power! This left Kuren overjoyed. Furthermore, his faint senses could detect the young man desperately trying to push further, as if he were on the verge of a breakthrough at any moment.

Kadi had brought the young man. Observing Kadi’s innocent expression, Kuren deduced that the young man’s character couldn’t be too bad. After all, birds of a feather flock together; Kadi wouldn’t choose someone utterly wicked as a companion.

Kuren’s heart stirred with excitement. The World Setting Technique can finally be passed on!

Few at the renowned Alchemy Workshop could truly comprehend this technique’s mysteries; the workshop only knew the barest rudiments.

Kuren struggled to lift his body, his expression quite content despite still being unable to speak. The spiritual injury he had suffered was immense. Those bastards from the Alchemy Workshop will get their retribution sooner or later! Yet, in this moment, Kuren managed to suppress the Bloodlust Spirit within him through sheer willpower. The extreme joy and surprise also lent him spiritual strength.

Joseph saw Kuren’s every move. He knew Kuren would be incredibly excited, but he hadn’t expected him to be so thrilled that he actually managed to sit up. It seemed Kuren intended to enter the World Setting Technique.

Regarding this technique, the Spirit Connection—Joseph hadn’t completely mastered it, but he understood the basics. At least he knew that executing it consumed a great deal of Spirit Power. Given Kuren’s current state, the Spirit Power he possessed likely wasn’t enough for him to delve deeper.

”Do you intend to go in and guide him?” Joseph asked with concern. Even though he knew Kuren couldn’t answer yet, he still had to ask.

Kuren nodded, the gesture clearly taxing him.

”Are you sure?”

Kuren nodded again.

Joseph looked at Kadi sitting nearby, then at Igor, who was also meditating. He sighed, ”Alright. The Great Mentor’s judgment has never been wrong. Even if this is a gamble, I’ll take it. In the past, betting on Kadi always meant a total loss. I hope my luck turns this time.”

Kadi was completely baffled. He was being blamed unfairly, out of nowhere and for no reason, like being hit by a stray arrow.

”It seems they’re about to explore the mysteries of this technique,” the Spirit Book mumbled quietly to the side. It observed everything, and being part of Igor’s Spirit Power allowed it to better perceive Igor’s—no, its master’s—every action.

In the safe house, Kadi was now the only one completely left out. He understood nothing, only seeing those around him speaking in riddles and doing inexplicable things. This was Kadi’s greatest confusion. He desperately needed to understand what was happening, but he always found himself on the periphery, catching only glimpses or superficial details, never the true essence of the matter.

Crucially, Kadi didn’t know who to ask at this moment. He felt everyone else was busy, leaving him isolated, a solitary outsider…

”You might as well come in and take a look too!” The one to finally offer Kadi help was the haughty Spirit Book. It huffed and puffed, flipping its pages as it called out to him.

Once again, out of the blue, Kadi was dragged into this event in a way he completely failed to understand.

Indeed, Kadi’s Spirit Power was forcefully pulled in by the Spirit Book. This Spirit Power Feedback surged like a flood, WHOOSHING towards Kadi’s mind…

Kadi was unprepared; he had made no preparations whatsoever. Just like that, utterly oblivious, he was pulled by the Spirit Book into a deeper layer of the World Setting Technique!
