One-Eyed Monster

The successful explosion eliminated the infectious curse; most people present had never expected a primitive technique to have such a significant impact. With the infectious curse lifted, the Undead Soldier’s driving force was lost. The residual deathly energy within the Obsidian Staff was hardly a cause for concern, as the Wind Elemental summoned by Great Witch Biggs had already taken care of it.

The Alchemists, including Milo, were not fools. They understood the basic principle that opportunities should not be missed. With the infectious curse broken, their Spirit Attacks could be employed again. The Alchemists of the Alchemy Workshop surely would not pass up this rare opportunity. They gathered their Spirit Power, preparing to deliver a final heavy blow to the Dark Wizard. Even if the opponent was merely a small clone, it could not be allowed to continue running rampant. Now that the opportunity arose, they had to seize it and crush the clone at once, preventing it from recovering and launching a renewed onslaught.

The Alchemists of the Alchemy Workshop launched a frenzied attack on Wizard Reed’s clone. Whether it was Brad, skilled in the Physique Technique, or Pedro, rich in Spirit Power reserves, they all fiercely attacked this clone that had entangled them for so long.

Without the enhancements from the infectious curse, Wizard Reed’s clone was like a puppet with its strings cut. The infectious curse was the link connecting Wizard Reed’s main body and this clone. Not only did it provide an unfailing supply of Spirit Power to the clone, but it also enabled feedback from the main body, although that feedback was not always promptly received.

The puppet-like Undead Soldier reacted to attacks without any feedback, as usual. The Undead Soldier neither shrieked nor panicked; injuries merely resulted in more gashes on its body and elicited only unpleasant, dull thuds.

The Alchemy Workshop’s attacks were brutal. The Undead Soldier, wobbling, quickly dropped the Obsidian Staff it held. Without the staff, this Undead Soldier clone became a mere shell. The battered shell swayed and then collapsed once more, this time unable to rise again, thoroughly defeated.

Seeing this, the Alchemists from the Alchemy Workshop sighed in relief. Finally, this troublesome clone was crushed!

But Jemma, standing to one side, furrowed her brow, as if she had spotted some ominous sign. The fallen Undead Soldier remained motionless but kept emitting dull thuds, seeming to hint at an impending possibility. Not good! Before Jemma could cry out, Estev shouted first, ”This thing is going to explode too!”

Estev’s warning startled everyone on the mountain. An Undead Soldier exploding—what could that possibly mean? The aftermath of such an explosion could contaminate everything on this mountain.

Quickly, the Undead Soldier, which had been emitting dull thuds, began to swell as if someone were inflating it.

The very instant the Undead Soldier swelled to the point of bursting, a series of ice walls were erected around it.

BANG! A dull thud sounded.

The Undead Soldier inside the ice walls was torn to pieces. The massive ice walls failed to maintain their original shape, shaking and scarred from the impact of flesh and bone fragments. Without these ice walls, the debris would undoubtedly have rained down upon the people on the mountain.

This ice wall was summoned by Bigas. Her ice wall prevented a terrible tragedy.

”This really is a mad dog!” Estev couldn’t help but lament.

The clone he and Bigas had encountered previously was also difficult to deal with. It was invulnerable to fire and unaffected by ice, and even with the Physique Technique, it was hard to make any breakthroughs.

A mad dog would bite indiscriminately, without regard for the consequences.

The clone that Estev and the others encountered had behaved just like that. Fortunately, they had Stan Sol with them at that time. Stan’s Sharkmon played a significant role; it devoured the clone’s Spirit Power. Unlike the clone on Grey Eagle Peak, that previous clone was powered entirely by Spirit Power.

After losing its Spirit Power, the Undead Soldier also behaved erratically, swaying wildly before ultimately choosing the same kind of self-destruction.

The choice of the current clone was identical to the last.

If Bigas and the others had not had a similar experience, they would not have reacted this way now.

It was because Estev had previously experienced this that he was able to quickly predict the Undead Soldier would explode. And it was because Bigas had also had that previous experience that she promptly reacted by casting an Ice Seal.

Due to the Undead Soldier’s Self-Explosion, the ice walls began to creak and crack. Soon, they split in two and shattered completely. While the scattered remains of the Undead Soldier were prevented from flying everywhere, the ice walls could not stop the pervasive spread of deathly energy. A dense wave of deathly energy now loomed over Grey Eagle Peak.

With Wizard Reed’s clone dealt with, the group on the mountain began to realign. These people on the mountain had no other thoughts but to consider which side they should take.

Bigas proudly surveyed the people on the mountain. She did not want any further complications before achieving her goal. Thus, she began to question the Alchemists from the Alchemy Workshop. ”Has the Alchemy Workshop also mastered the Teleportation Spell? How else could you arrive here instantly, without a trace? Could it be achieved so easily without the Teleportation Spell?”

Milo was displeased. This witch knows full well what happened when the seal on Dawn Peak was broken. Her pretense now clearly shows her extreme prejudice against the Alchemy Workshop.

When the Fei Lai Stone on Dawn Peak shattered, it emitted a dazzling light that blinded many. Yet, such brilliance could not deter an Adventurer with Class from exploring. At that time, members of the Alchemy Workshop and the wizard named Biggs had approached for a closer look when an unknown force suddenly dragged them away, and they inexplicably found themselves here.

This was a very inexplicable event. Even now, they could feel the strength of that pulling force, which gave them a sensation of falling and made them feel helpless.

”We were drawn here. Surely one of the Six Elemental Wizards among you could enlighten us on this mystery? After all, you arrived here on your own,” Pedro retorted, unable to bear Bigas’s arrogance. He thought that Witch Bigas was making a fuss over nothing and did not trust the terms of the agreement proposed by the Chief.

”What a joke. It’s not your place to speak right now. I’m asking him,” Bigas disregarded Pedro, pointing her finger at Milo.

Pedro moved as if to flare up, but Milo stopped him. Milo also noticed that the situation had changed. It seemed as though the Alchemy Workshop had become the public enemy, isolated on this mountain.

”I humbly request that you not forget the agreement with the Chief!” Milo suppressed his anger and respectfully replied to Bigas.

He suddenly felt that, compared to the Dark Wizard’s clone, Bigas was the true mad dog—fickle and lashing out at everyone.
