One-Eyed Monster

With that, Great Witch Biggs’s confidence suddenly rose. She waved her fingers and began to instruct the Wind Elemental, who scampered along the path, not forgetting to glare back at the Great Witch once in a while.

Whirlwinds suddenly flew up to the sky, then the stones that Joela had knocked away were all at once returned to her.

The stones, carrying the wind, were like arrows shooting straight toward Joela.

Great Witch Biggs had initially thought her whirlwind spell could crush the Alchemists on the other side, or at least throw them into confusion if not completely obliterate them.

But reality left her utterly disappointed.

The Alchemy Workshop didn’t care about these stones at all. POOF! POOF! They turned into falling leaves before they even reached them, slowly drifting downward with the wind. Some of the leaves even swirled away with the wind vortex conjured by the Great Witch...

The Great Witch had faced this kind of disappointment too many times and had grown accustomed to it. Although a little despondent for a moment, she soon regained her usual indifferent demeanor. Her previous confidence disappeared as well.

”Who would’ve thought that your special skill was Hail Storm Wings.” Bigas’s voice bore a tinge of excitement, as though she had encountered something extraordinarily rare.

The Wizards of the Alchemy Workshop couldn’t help but feel resentful at this scene. Bigas always talked about the strong and the weak, holding no one in high regard. Yet now, she was praising someone who seemed to have no particular skill, which made this Six-Element Sage seem hypocritical. It wasn’t just hypocritical; it was downright absurd.

Milo of the Alchemy Workshop wasn’t a talkative person and had no interest in further idle banter. To him, someone like Bigas was intolerable. Therefore, without a word, he launched another attack, throwing a cluster of flying arrows at Bigas, just like before.

This kind of attack, similar to Physique Technique, wasn’t really the specialty of the Alchemy Workshop. However, they had been trying it out for some time, and it wasn’t clear why.

The members of the Alchemy Workshop were all experts in Exchange Spell techniques. Very few, like Brad, enjoyed close combat, especially when it came to Physique Technique. Furthermore, if Brad hadn’t possessed unique insights into the Berserk Potion, he wouldn’t have been recommended for the Golden Seats.

They were either experts in the Alchemy Equation, synthesizing Exchange Beasts, or dedicated to material decomposition. Alchemists were not typically close-combat masters, nor were they experts in Physique Technique.

But whether it was Joela or Milo, they had all been using tactics outside their specialization in recent battles. What was the reason for this?

”Battling me without using your real skills?” Bigas didn’t even look at Milo. She simply lifted her hand, and the bracelets on her wrist chimed. A shower of water droplets appeared in mid-air. These droplets were like famished fish, devouring the arrows Milo had shot.

Milo had seen this tactic before. He understood that these water droplets would soon freeze into ice and be thrust back at them along with the arrows...

Such a lack of imagination.

”Brad!” Milo shouted. He still didn’t use what they were good at, instead continuing to use the tactics of a Fighter or a Hunter.

”Yes!” Brad understood. He twiddled his fingers and waved his hand. A cloud of grey dust danced into the air. Then, those water droplets that hadn’t completely frozen began to boil, sizzling into a wisp of steam.

Bigas didn’t panic. She flicked her fingers, and the flying arrows instantly snapped—CRACK! CRACK!—as fragile as ice.

”You lot sure are bold, daring to lay a hand on my master!” Hustace—no, it should be the Witch Spirit—jumped up at that moment. After its master had moved her fingers twice, it couldn’t just squat there anymore.

Qi Liu, whose lips were frostbitten, stuttered, trying to intervene. But he quickly realized that the person jumping before him was not Young Master Hustace. While the body was indeed Young Master Hustace’s, the tone of voice and behavior were drastically different.

The Witch Spirit inhabiting Young Master Hustace’s body hopped in front of the Alchemists. With a wave of its hand, mud and sand whirled to form a mighty pillar, rolling directly toward Milo and his comrades.

”Earth Type?” Milo was surprised. He never expected that the Witch Spirit trained by the Ice-Type Bigas was actually an Earth Wizard.

The Witch Spirit’s attack posed no threat to anyone. Pedro merely gestured lightly, and the pillar vanished without a trace.

”Huh?” The Witch Spirit was very astonished. It had never encountered such a situation before.

”We don’t want any harm to come to the body you’re occupying, so you should step aside,” Pedro said, quite politely, refraining from cursing at the Witch Spirit.

However, the Witch Spirit was not pleased. It started twisting its fingers again, contemplating a new spell.

Soon, the ground under the Alchemists’ feet began to RUMBLE! RUMBLE! It felt as though the earth was about to split open.

However, this didn’t trouble the Alchemists. With a light gesture, solid rocks appeared, stabilizing the ground that was on the brink of splitting.

Trying to manipulate elements in front of Alchemists was a joke. They wielded the Alchemy Equation, freely exchanging matter, so they had no need to worry about the current situation.

To Alchemists, Earth Type, Ice Type, and Water Type Wizards—those who controlled these three visible elements—didn’t even count as Sages. The Golden Seat Wizards of the Alchemy Workshop could freely use the Alchemy Equation to exchange matter. Magic of these three types posed no threat to them.

However, the Wind Type, Thunder Type, and Flame Type practitioners in the Wizard Alliance were different. Alchemists had no understanding of the elements they summoned, and there was no way to exchange them. They only recognized these three types of elements as Natural Force, not considering the others to be so.

Thus, an Earth Type Witch Spirit posed no threat to them at all. The Alchemists of the Golden Seats could easily counter its attacks with a mere flick of the wrist.

The Witch Spirit naturally refused to admit defeat. It moved in this unfamiliar body, intending to cast a new spell. But just as it was gathering energy, a cold wave swept over it. Without a doubt, this came from its master.

”Stay aside. Quit making a fool of yourself here,” Bigas said. Her cold demeanor was quite different from her initial presentation. At that moment, her voice seemed filled with considerable helplessness.

Bigas launched no further attacks on the Alchemists from the Alchemy Workshop. She merely gave them a cold glare.

This glare sent chills down their spines. The aura of a Six-Element Sage was imposing. Although Milo and the others were not frightened, they couldn’t help but draw a sharp breath.

”Members of the Alchemy Workshop!” Bigas continued to scan Milo and the others, enunciating each word carefully, ”I have an agreement with your Chief. I will not make things difficult for you here.”

Having said that, Bigas turned around, seemingly unwilling to exchange another word with them.

”What does she mean?!” Pedro was getting impatient and wanted to question further, but Bigas’s Ice Blades sprouted straight from the ground, showing no intention of answering.

”Hmm,” Milo raised a hand to stop Joela, who was itching for action. ”If she says there’s an agreement, then there is one. The Saint Robe is swift, faster than a Mail Bird. The Chief’s directive might still be en route. Let’s wait a moment.”
