One-Eyed Monster

Wizard Gus stood bewildered in his Illusionary Realm.

He felt that all this was too simple, something that should be impossible. He dared not make a move now. If the witch were playing tricks, he would fall into her trap. Without a good understanding of the other party, it was wiser for him to maintain a bit of caution. He certainly didn’t want to fall unknowingly into someone else’s trap.

Like a fool, Wizard Gus could only stand there, not daring to budge.

He was worried that the witch was not being honest.

Theoretically, the Great Witch was merely a Gray Robe. Tackling her shouldn’t have required much energy. His only fear was her recent progress and the Spirit Power Energy that came with it. This Energy was hidden within Progressors, and he was uncertain when it would explode.

The hidden Energy after progress was something the Wizardry world could not yet confirm. After progressing, this strange Energy needed to be released. However, because it’s inscrutable, most Wizards choose a secluded corner to release it. But, some exceptionally talented Wizards could control this Energy and release it whenever they wished.

Wizard Gus assumed that the witch before him was from the latter group.

Indeed, the Great Witch Biggs was a woman of exceptional talent, but her talent lay not in controlling that Energy, but in her memory.

Her mentor often said Biggs was an Adventurer with Class who had walked into the wrong door. Her talent was supposed to be suited for Scholars, not Wizards. Yet, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t unlock the Numerical Sensing Skill; she was unable to see the floating digits.

Moreover, Biggs herself had chosen the path of Wizardry.

Although she knew that after progressing, Wizards needed to release an Energy, she had no idea how to do it.

She knew so many theoretical things, but in reality, she was as clueless as a headless housefly and had no idea where to go.

Now, the Great Witch Biggs, after experiencing the dual test of fire and ice, had only one thought in her mind.

And that was, I’m dead, I’m dead, I’m dead...

The Great Witch Biggs closed her eyes, thinking that when she opened them again, she would be in the Eternal Tranquility Realm.

She waited silently, waiting for someone to wake her, tell her about her failed and helpless life, and finally, holding her hand, leading her to the Eternal Tranquility Realm...

But she waited for a while, and there was no movement!

Impossible, I am clearly already dead.

Why hasn’t anyone come to get me? That’s not what the Spirit Book says!

Fluctuations began in Biggs’s heart. She wasn’t sure what had happened, but an instinctual feeling of helplessness and powerlessness made her unable to resist...

She couldn’t resist the doubt in her heart. So, she squinted, trying to see the world beyond her tired eyelids...

A ray of light penetrated her eyes.

Around her, everything was fine, with no anomalies.

The child was still sleeping...

This is impossible!

How could this be possible?!

The Great Witch Biggs’s mind felt as if a pot of boiling paste had been poured over it, instantly blurring everything.

Could it be, I’m still alive? The Great Witch Biggs could not believe her own thoughts. She’d clearly just endured burning fires and piercing ice, how on earth could there be any hope of survival?!

Or, is this the Eternal Tranquility Realm?

The Great Witch Biggs was now unable to discern her current situation. She urgently needed someone to guide her.

The Great Witch looked left and right. It seemed that apart from this child, there was no one else she could rely on.

This was really an ironic thing, a Great Witch who had experienced the ages needing a wet-behind-the-ears kid for pointers!

What left her speechless was that she had to wake up this little brat and sweet talk him...

Although the Great Witch was extremely reluctant, she had no choice but to grit her teeth and move forward to understand her current predicament, whether she was alive or dead.

Then she had to gently wake this child and greet him in the sweetest voice. Who knows what kind of temper this child has? Is he good or bad, especially when not fully awake?

The Great Witch Biggs shook the sleeping child with trepidation.

The child rolled over and went back to sleep...

It seems such a gentle method isn’t enough to wake him, the Great Witch thought. So, she boldly added a little more force.

”NNGH...” The child opened his groggy eyes. Seeing the Great Witch, his sleepiness vanished instantly, and he grinned. ”You figured it out?”

The Great Witch was stunned for a moment. What was there to figure out?

She instinctively shook her head, indicating she didn’t understand.

”UGH...” The child rolled his eyes and let out a long sigh. ”If you haven’t figured it out, why come to me?”

”I, I don’t know if I, if I, am dead?”

”AH—” The child paused after hearing this, then giggled.

”Dead... dead? You... you’re really the worst Wizard I’ve ever encountered!” the child said, laughing so hard he couldn’t close his mouth.

”I was burned by fire and pierced by ice, and I didn’t die?” The Great Witch didn’t understand why the child was laughing; she was getting more and more confused.

”You’re still here, which means you didn’t go to the Eternal Tranquility Realm. And I haven’t dissipated yet, which shows that your Spirit Power is still intact.”

”HUH?” The Great Witch felt as if she’d gone somewhere else and didn’t understand what the child was talking about at all.

”You seem like an idiot; you don’t know anything. But I wonder if an idiot like you knows what Equivalent Exchange means?” The child began to chatter on, as if he were advising the Great Witch Biggs.

”Of course, I know what Equivalent Exchange is,” the Great Witch answered proudly, feeling that the question was incredibly idiotic.

”Working with an idiot like you is really exhausting.” The child suddenly wilted, like a naughty boy who had played too hard and was now listless.

”You need to know that equivalents are mutual. You can control me, and I can control you too,” the brat replied arrogantly.

The Great Witch really didn’t understand what this little brat was talking about. At this moment, she didn’t care about Equivalent Exchange; she cared about her state—whether she was dead or alive. She didn’t believe a word the child had said earlier. She felt she couldn’t possibly have survived.

So the Great Witch, whose mouth was usually not adept at speaking, opened it and continued to inquire about her condition: ”How can I prove that I’m still alive?”

”Does this need proving? You’re in the scene you yourself created! This is Spirit Power, you idiot!”

”HUH?” The Great Witch did not understand.

”Although I am the wind, my form—this child’s form—was created by you!” The little brat suddenly became a bit anxious.

I created? The Great Witch rolled her eyes as if she had thought of something.

”This is your Inner World, the Inner World where you control the Natural Force. Except, you are too weak. For now, you’re only being controlled by me.”

The Great Witch rolled her eyes again.

”It seems like you were bewildered by that Black Smoke!” The little brat suddenly stood up.

”Now I’m going to show you what a Wizard’s Inner World looks like after they’ve progressed!”

The wind blew, dissipating all the Smoke.

”Impossible!” from the summit of Dawn Peak, the Great Witch Biggs and Wizard Gus exclaimed simultaneously.
