Ascension from Dual Professions

Chapter 215: Chapter 210: Honor the Bet, the Lecture Tour Team Arrives

The wind and snow in Trulane County were far from the bone-chilling cold of Hetar County; one could even call them gentle. The fine snowflakes that landed on their cloaks evaporated quickly, leaving not a single trace.

It was in this weather that Jon and his newly recruited teammates traveled toward Roco Town.

After losing the coin-catching contest, Dolores, true to her word, accepted Jon’s employment. Jon then recruited a pair of Warrior siblings from a small tavern, whose skills were in the upper Apprentice Level. The brother, Moon, specialized in Sword and Shield, while the sister, Sati, was skilled with a halberd—perfect for the vanguard.

At this moment, three of the four-person party were riding their horses properly. Only the purple-haired girl, relying on her superb agility, was lying on her back on her pony—which clearly had Demon Beast blood—in a posture that an ordinary person could never hope to maintain, swinging her legs out of sheer boredom.

”Boss, I’m so bored~ Do a magic trick for me~”

This wasn’t the first time she had made such a request on their journey. She claimed it was compensation for how Jon had ”cheated” her, but only she knew what she was really thinking.

And while Jon wasn’t the type of leader to put on airs, he wouldn’t indulge her need for ”amusement” every single time.

So he just gave her a cool reply.

”We’ll be there soon. Be patient.”

”Hmph, so stingy. You’re clearly a Mage, yet you’re pretending to be a Warrior...”

In the face of Dolores’s grumbling, Jon’s expression remained unchanged, as if he hadn’t heard a thing.

He hadn’t beaten this ridiculously nimble girl with his own pitifully low agility, but with the power of Magic.

It was the basic spell of the Telekinesis School—[Mage Hand], a spell that combined Magic Power and intent to move objects from a distance. With Jon’s level of control, a single thought was all it took for the scattered coins to obediently return to his hand.

No matter how agile Dolores was, it was difficult to compete with the speed of a ”thought.” At least, she hadn’t reached that level yet.

This was also why she had conceded and started calling Jon ”Boss.”

If Jon could use a simple spell to such a degree, he was naturally capable of much more.

Adventurers had always respected strength above all else; might made right.

The other two members of the party, the siblings Moon and Sati, lacked Dolores’s relaxed attitude. They sat bolt upright on their horses, their gazes fixed forward in a display of silent reliability.

To them, Jon was a mysterious and generous Mage lord. This rare, high-value winter commission was a hard-won opportunity. The combination of these factors made them treat Jon with the caution one would reserve for a ”client who must be served diligently,” afraid that they might anger him and ruin the deal.

Fortunately, even the longest journey has an end. Just as the sky was about to turn completely dark, the group finally arrived at the outskirts of Roco Town.

However, just as they were preparing to enter the town, a troop of flamboyantly dressed cavalry, carrying colorful flags on their backs, charged out from within, shouting as they came.

”Make way, make way! Don’t block the road!”

The guards at the gate obviously knew these men and hurriedly scattered the crowd of people entering the town, causing a great deal of chaos.

After the cavalry had departed, another troop of similarly ”ceremonially dressed” guards ran to the town gate and began to clear the area.

”Registration to enter the town is now closed! Anyone who has not yet entered must leave immediately!”

”Those already being registered, hurry up and enter! Do not linger in the streets!”

This announcement immediately triggered a wave of complaints, with many Merchants pleading desperately.

”Sir! We can’t just leave all these goods outside the town! Do you think you could...”

”Enough nonsense! This is an order from the Lord! If you want to keep doing business in Roco Town, then get your things out of here, now!”

Clearly, there was no room for negotiation.

A scene like this undoubtedly piqued Dolores’s curiosity. She stood up straight in her stirrups, peering curiously in the direction the cavalry had gone.

”Huh? Boss, what’s going on? They’re dressed so weirdly!”

”They must be preparing to receive the touring delegation for the [King Selection Ceremony]. I wonder which Prince or Princess is coming here.”

Jon glanced coolly at the flamboyantly dressed guards at the town gate, explaining as he handed the Moran family crest to the Scribe in charge of registration.

”As for the way they’re dressed, it’s not that strange. The flags and cloth emblems on their bodies symbolize the local Lord’s family history and glorious deeds. It might look odd, but it’s actually their most formal attire.”

Being a ”foreigner,” the purple-haired girl was clearly unfamiliar with the local customs. Hearing Jon’s explanation, she couldn’t help but get a ”so that’s how it is” look on her face.

”Ohh—Boss, you know so much!”

The middle-aged Scribe in charge of registration, seeing how Jon had revealed the truth of the matter in just a few words, couldn’t help but speak respectfully as he returned the crest.

”Mr. Advisor from the Moran family, welcome to Roco Town. If you have some free time tomorrow, please consider attending the banquet at the Lord’s Mansion, so that my lord may show you some hospitality.”

’I can’t go to that banquet. What do I know about the Moran family? I’d be exposed the moment I started talking.’

Jon was rolling his eyes internally, but his verbal reply was flawless.

”If the opportunity arises, I will certainly pay a visit.”

With that, he waved his hand and led his teammates into the town.

And this nonchalant attitude only increased the awe the Warrior siblings following behind him felt.

’This Mr. Jon is actually an advisor hired by a noble family!’

In a country where the nobility formed the foundation of rule, such a status could be called the ultimate dream for an Adventurer!

Meanwhile, Dolores swiveled her large, amber eyes, darting glances at Jon over and over, her thoughts a mystery.

The group’s figures quickly disappeared into the streets, and the once-noisy crowd at the town gate was swiftly cleared away, leaving only a few townspeople of good standing to line the sides of the street behind the gate, there to add to the atmosphere.

Then, amidst great anticipation, a low, rhythmic sound of hooves and footsteps approached from the distance.

Leading the way were a dozen or so elite Knights from the Roco family. They wore gleaming, polished Plate Armor, were draped in cloth emblems and banners, and had solemn expressions.

The procession that followed them exuded an aura of competence and order.

Thirty-six Knights in uniform Enchanted Armor and deep blue cloaks controlled their mounts with superb horsemanship, forming a tight formation. As they advanced, the sound of their horses’ hooves was almost as one!

Behind them were several lavish carriages, escorted by foot guards wearing similarly styled equipment.

The entire procession was impeccably neat and orderly, radiating an immense sense of dignity.

But the focus of all eyes was undoubtedly the figure in the center of the procession, mounted on a rare steed.
