Chapter 88: Chapter 87: Changes to Dragon Flame Dance, Achievement System, [Wolf Shadow Mystery] Phase One Complete

After adding the task of using [Multiple Projections · Elemental Arrow] to train his [Magic Mastery] Skill Level to his schedule, Jon finished processing this batch of quest rewards.

But Jon still had two other matters to attend to.

Namely, the changes to [Dragon Flame Dance] and the [Achievement] system.

First up was [Dragon Flame Dance].

Previously, when he used [Po Ao’s Gaze] to break free of his restraints and charge forward to kill that Evil Mage, a portion of the Sun’s Power seemed to have been absorbed by this Skill, evolving into a new Skill Effect.

——

[Dragon Flame Dance LV.1 (Perfect)]

[Passive Effect 1: ...]

[Passive Effect 2: When entering the ”Dragon Flame Dance” state, if the Fire Element Shield is active, you gain an additional 10% Damage Reduction and 10% Control Resistance.]

[Active Effect 1: ...]

[Dragon Flame Dance: Increases all speeds by 30%; grants a regenerating Fire Element Shield of 60 + 100% Magic Strength; expands melee attack range by 100%; adds 30 + 100% Magic Strength as Flame Damage to attacks; Piercing Effect +30; attacks have a chance to inflict ”Burn” and ”Fear.”]

——

The Dragon Flame Dance state now had a ”regenerating” Fire Element Shield, though its value wasn’t particularly high.

There was also a ”Passive Effect 2” that worked in tandem with this, increasing his Damage Reduction and control resistance.

Thus, compared to its original form as a pure damage-dealing Skill, [Dragon Flame Dance] had gained some defensive and crowd-control-breaking capabilities, showing signs of becoming a more well-rounded ability.

This also confirmed Jon’s earlier theory.

The potential of this Perfect Level Skill he had created himself was clearly greater than this. He had been right not to use Skill Points to upgrade it directly!

’It seems that if the opportunity is right in the future, I can add even more effects to it... until it becomes one of my core Skills...’

’Maybe it can even reach Epic Level someday!’

At this thought, Jon couldn’t help but feel a little proud.

A father always feels a sense of accomplishment when the child he’s raised shows promise!

Next was the [Achievement] System, unlocked because he had created [Dragon Flame Dance].

This system was slightly different from the player Achievement System in *Yino* that he was familiar with.

The original Achievement System simply recorded the glorious events a player experienced on the Yino Continent.

For example, participating in a major battle, killing a certain number of enemies, completing a hidden quest, visiting continental landmarks, and so on...

But for Jon, while the aforementioned functions still existed, his system had something more.

Namely, [Achievement Collection]!

For instance, the [Proof of Genius IV] achievement he received after creating [Dragon Flame Dance] was the fourth in the [Genius] achievement series.

Besides IV, there were four other achievements—V, III, II, and I—which corresponded to creating Epic, Rare, Excellent, and Ordinary level Skills, respectively.

There was no VI, since Legendary Level Skills could not be created by oneself.

These five achievements comprised the entirety of the [Genius] achievement series.

And after obtaining three achievements from this series, a permanent bonus effect would be unlocked!

[Genius I: Your Skill resource costs are reduced by 3%.]

Three percent might not seem like much, but this was only the first bonus!

Logically, there should also be a ”Genius II” and ”Genius III.” If ”Genius II” gave a 5% reduction in Skill cost and ”Genius III” gave 10%, the total would be quite substantial.

For Skills like [Dragon Flame Dance] and [Glory Charge] that continuously consumed resources, you could never have too much cost reduction.

Besides [Genius], there were other achievement series like [Monster Hunter], [Pioneer], [Explorer], and [Wealthy Merchant], each with its own requirements and effects.

For Jon, the easiest ones to complete at the moment were [Pioneer] and [Wealthy Merchant].

[Proof of the Pioneer I: Obtain a Dungeon first-clear reward (1/3)]

[Proof of the Wealthy Merchant I: Earn 100 Gold Coins through trades with others (0/100)]

Their corresponding bonus effects were also quite good.

[Pioneer I: Your Perception range is expanded by 10%.]

[Wealthy Merchant I: Your reputation gain is increased by 5%.]

Both the expanded Perception range and the increased reputation gain were very practical effects.

The former would help Jon better detect hidden dangers, while the latter would speed up the process of becoming a familiar face among the major factions.

Overall, the [Achievement] System was worth spending some time on.

’Once things here in Birch Town are settled, I should go clear the dungeons in the surrounding areas to get [Pioneer]...’

’As for [Wealthy Merchant], once my own faction is established, I can complete it quickly after a few business dealings with the Heta County Noble Union Chamber of Commerce.’

Jon added these two matters to his schedule as well, then closed the panel, stretched his stiff back, and prepared to rest.

However, just as he closed his eyes and tried to drift off to sleep, a notification suddenly popped up from the system.

——

[Wolf Shadow Mystery I (Ordinary - Regional Quest), Completed]

[You were the first to discover the lone wolf’s tracks and reported them to Captain Basque of Nomu Village, which caught his attention.]

[Contribution: 15%, Reward Multiplier: 1.15]

[Completion Reward: 460 Universal Experience Points, 57.5 Birch Territory Reputation]

[Current Birch Territory Reputation Level: Neutral (57.5/5000)]

——

[Quest Information Updated]

[Wolf Shadow Mystery II (Ordinary - Regional Quest)]

[Under Captain Basque’s leadership, the villagers of Nomu Village found the wolf pack’s trail. But their numbers are terrifying; the Hunters’ bows and pitchforks are no match for the pack!]

[Current Stage Objective: Kill the wolf pack entrenched around Nomu Village (Progress: 0/100)]

[Basic Reward: 800 Universal Experience Points, 100 Birch Territory Reputation]

[Bonus Rewards: Based on contribution, you will be granted an additional Experience and reputation reward multiplier, with a chance to obtain material and monetary rewards from the Nomu Village chief.]

”Warning: The wolf pack is large. Beware of them descending the mountain as a group to raid villages and towns. It is recommended that you undertake this quest as part of a team.”

——

”Oh?”

Jon’s drowsiness vanished instantly as he sat up in his soft bed.

’So Basque and the villagers finished the first stage... Three days. Without any player’s help, it must have been a real struggle...’

Then, he looked at a solitary box in the corner of the lounge and muttered to himself.

’It’s about time I made a trip back. I still haven’t delivered the ore I meant to give to Old Man Sutton...’

’There are three Official Level Professionals in the commerce hall now. That Ivory can control shadow beasts so skillfully, her level is probably at least 50...’

’With her around, I don’t have to worry too much about Reya’s safety until the Blood Eye Association makes its next move.’

’But I still need to make some preparations... I’m not sleeping tonight!’

Jon got up, threw on his clothes, and walked to his workbench.

’After going through a huge battle, I finally get a chance to rest... and now I have to get busy again...’

’I really am fated to a life of toil...’
