Our Family Has Fallen

Lance wasn’t really going insane, more like he was entertaining himself, which was indeed a good way to relieve stress, and a lot of the pressure accumulated in his heart dissipated after his outburst.

Attention refocused on the matter of Spirit Ascension.

Back to the original question, is Spirit Ascension worthwhile at all?

If it’s really done, what is the price to pay?

Lance pondered for a while.

Spirit Ascension, under certain preset circumstances, is humanity’s only way out.

That is when humanity hasn’t developed the technology to escape the planet, and at this time the revival of the Primordial God brings destruction.

Staying will surely lead to death, whereas Spirit Ascension offers one last chance.

The price is obvious. Once detached from the nurturing of flesh, bodies constructed from spiritual energy will lose the ability to reproduce, with no further additions.

Moreover, Alhazred’s experiences also show that the Void is not a good place and requires enduring various ”pollutions”. If one can’t withstand them, the consequence is vanishing into smoke. Even worse is becoming a monster wandering in the Void.

Relatively speaking, Lance doesn’t need to worry about being deemed the Evil God due to Spirit Ascension.

Because the ancestors would drag everyone to die together without anyone else’s consent. If he only harms those followers, no one would regard him.

And Lance can’t possibly take all humanity along for Ascension.

The reason is simple: the resources consumed to perform Spirit Ascension are considerable, like Wang Cai’s transformation consumed a lot of his Spiritual Essence.

At that time, the quota for Spirit Ascension will be equivalent to a ticket for the ark at the end time—you average people still want to get on board?

Even leaders might not get through; it depends on Lance’s mood, let alone you ordinary folks.

Not sure what he thought of, but a mysterious smile appeared on Lance’s face again.

Hamlet’s pillar is him, and his pillar is amusement.

In this desperate world, surviving without amusement would be unbearably boring, wouldn’t it?

The idea sounds great, but in reality, it’s incredibly difficult to achieve.

Alhazred’s experiences only provided him a direction; obtaining the soul extraction ritual from the Pyramid Temple was just the first step, turning it into tangible effects is extremely challenging.

Not to mention Wang Cai’s Spirit Ascension wasn’t his method, merely using what’s available.

So Spirit Ascension is a very distant matter, all unknown, whether it can be achieved is still uncertain.

This is where Lance’s thinking differs from others. Alhazred is indeed a scholar deeply researched in mysticism.

But his understanding of those things remained superficial, whereas Lance had already begun to think about how to use these technologies to achieve his own goals, casting his gaze toward the distant future.

Although it was all useless.

But ultimately, preparations must begin, leaving at least one way for humanity.

To trust the wisdom of future generations.

As for me...

”Wang Cai, let’s go to bed,” Lance suddenly raised his hand and shouted, talking to himself in the room like a madman.

”Damn those idiots, wait till I wake up and kill them all!”

”No, that’s too cheap for them; they must be sent to the sanatorium.”

”Ha ha ha! The pretty ones must be evil cult undercover, others cannot be controlled, send them to my room for me to deal with...”

Lance grabbed Wang Cai and said all sorts of nonsense, occasionally letting out bizarre laughter.

If others saw it, they would probably think he was crazy, but Wang Cai was already used to it, though the wolf head caught by Lance showed a troubled expression.

It somewhat felt like ”there’s no hope, this world better end quickly.”

...

In the private room of the bathhouse, the light blue pool water covered those indescribable scenes. The previous green potion was for muscle fatigue relief, this blue one was for mental fatigue relief.

Under the effect of warm pool water, the potion’s effects manifest, slowly alleviating the accumulated pressure.

Why isn’t Tiffany here?

Because this is different from those pure herbal ones before; potions that can relieve spiritual agitation inherently carry some extraordinary.

Tiffany is an ordinary person, and unless necessary, Grendel wouldn’t let her touch these things.

This is a normal Transcendent’s cautious attitude towards Supernatural Power; Lance was simply here to make trouble.

As for the doctor Paracelsus, he had long been significantly Blessed by Lance, tainted with Supernatural Power.

Amanda is not like Boudica, who boasts and flaunts her achievements.

As a Seeker of Omens with a killer style, Amanda’s character is actually conservative, even somewhat dark.

So she wouldn’t reveal too much detailed information about the Beast Lair journey, nor disclose her combat techniques.

She knows better than anyone that once others understand her methods, many tactics lose their significance.

In reality, it’s mostly because she’s too tired, lying down she doesn’t want to do anything, even speaking feels arduous.

It seems the previous Corrupting Wind had a significant impact on her.

However, no one asked her; Grendel would directly find Lance for what she wanted to know, while Paracelsus had just talked with Lance today, and understood everything he wanted to know.

As for Catherine...

She has developed a cautious habit beside the Bald Sorcerer, wouldn’t easily speak much, and often acts more transparently.

So, it was just Grendel asking about their feelings, collecting user experiences.

Any potion that can calm spiritual essence and stabilize the mind is very popular among Transcendents.
