Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 228: Chapter 192: Breaking the Ritual_1

Lance had no idea what the conversation on the other side was about. After handling some of his work, he finally managed to find time to head to the backyard.

The door lock opened. Instead of hearing the shrill howling of wolves, it was unusually quiet. But in the next second, a figure burst out from the corner, its fierce face emerging from the darkness, exuding a strong intent to kill.

Lance’s reaction was anything but slow, as he directly kicked the figure away.

The figure rolled a few times on the ground and got up the next second, seemingly unharmed by the attack.

Sensing the strength of its opponent, it didn’t launch a rash attack. Instead, it crouched low to the ground, its throat emitting a trembling growl.

Lance finally saw its appearance clearly. What met his eyes was an exaggeratedly large wolf cub, robust and agile, with thick and lush fur. Some patches were matted with blood, adding to its disheveled look.

Whether it was the so-called Wolf God Bloodline or the effects of the ritual acting on it, its size had matched that of an adult female wolf within a month. If it continued to grow, who knew what kind of behemoth it would become.

More frightening than its size were its eyes, filled with wild madness.

Attracted by the bloody scent emanating from Lance, it craved, craved for slaughter.

Lance took out the Head Wolf Pendant. Its aura caused a slight reaction in the creature, but it then became agitated, as if being challenged.

Seeing this, Lance understood. This cub hadn’t grown up in a pack; it had even killed its own mother. Naturally, it didn’t recognize the scent of an alpha wolf. Instead, it saw him as an enemy threatening its position.

Before Lance could react further, the white wolf charged at him. It took this as a provocation!

Exploding with powerful strength, it moved even faster than before, demonstrating an agility that belied its massive form.

It rapidly closed the distance, extending its thick paws, revealing claws as sharp as blades. If they caught him, they could surely tear off a piece of flesh.

Lance was not the least bit afraid; he even stepped forward, a small round Shield appearing in his hand to take the full force of the wolf’s clawed swipe.

SCREEECH!

The sharp claws scraped against the iron Shield, tearing its studded metal plating.

The force of the wolf’s blow was transmitted through the Shield to Lance’s body, exerting pressure even on someone with his extraordinary physique.

After pushing the white wolf away, Lance couldn’t help but flex his arm. Looking at the Shield, he saw it now bore several deep gashes.

Although Boudica had already badly damaged the Shield before, it was, after all, still covered with a layer of iron.

If those claws had caught a person, their hand might have been snapped off. Yet Lance smiled at the sight.

Is this the power of an Extraordinary creature? he mused. Then it’s no wonder the records say Extraordinary creatures can contend with Transcendents.

After testing and feeling the strength of the white wolf, Lance retracted the Shield and walked toward it barehanded. Such a posture was tantamount to suicide when facing a natural hunter!

The murderous intent in the white wolf’s eyes didn’t diminish in the slightest; only pure madness remained!

With a low growl, the white wolf didn’t hesitate any longer and charged once again, leaping forward as if to pin down its prey. Its snarling face seemed to be aiming for his neck.

Facing the charging white wolf, Lance too became excited. He clenched his fists, and the dormant strength within his muscles was called into action.

With no finesse, just brute force, he smashed his fist directly into the wolf’s huge head.

The sensation was like hitting stone, and in the next second, the white wolf was sent flying backward.

”I just took a blow from you, so it’s high time you took a punch from me.”

Lance didn’t press the attack. Instead, he moved his body. The Strengthening had brought power, but it also made his body restless. He needed an outlet to adapt to this new strength.

The fight with the Pirates had been nothing more than a warm-up; now he finally had a place to vent his power.

The white wolf got up from the ground, shook its head, and drooled uncontrollably. However, it didn’t back down because of the recent blow.

On the contrary, its killing intent surged even more. There’s no retreat in the struggle of wild beasts; defeat meant death.

The white wolf adjusted itself, but instead of charging forward recklessly, it circled Lance, seeking an opening.

Lance stood still, allowing it to move behind him. Then, hearing a sound by his ear, he suddenly turned and reached out, grabbing the white wolf by its fur.

Lance’s terrifying strength came into play as he lifted the heavy white wolf high into the air before slamming it to the ground.

THUMP!

The white wolf hit the ground with a dull sound. It struggled to get back on its feet, but the repeated blows further enraged it, and it let out a piercing howl to the sky.

Under the moonlight, its fur stood on end, and its body seemed to swell inexplicably.

When it set its eyes on Lance again, they turned blood-red. Its mouth, baring sharp fangs, dribbled a mixture of blood and saliva, making it look even more ferocious.

But Lance was entirely unconcerned. What did it matter how ferocious it was? It’d better be able to take a few more of my punches.

Without waiting for the white wolf to attack, he took the initiative, dodging its sweeping claws before kicking out.

The white wolf nimbly dodged and launched itself forward in a pounce, its mouth giving off a strong stench before it could even get close.

But Lance wouldn’t give it that chance. He thrust out his hand, deftly grabbed the fur on its neck, then flipped the wolf over and pinned it to the ground.
