Reincarnated As a Fox With System

Chapter 496: Checkmate?

After finishing off all of the assassins that were chasing after her before, Tang Li Xue immediately chose a relatively remote part of the jungle to land.

Tang Li Xue jumped down from the flying disk and put down Little Seventh, and said to Little Seventh with an unwilling tone: ”Little Seventh, it is time for you to go.”

”Big Sister Xue... will we meet again in the future?” Little Seventh asked with a sad tone.

”Donʼt worry! We will certainly meet again soon!” Tang Li Xue replied while showing her gentle smile and patting Little Seventhʼs head.

After pondering it for a while, Tang Li Xue still did not feel reassured, so she took out her white [Wind Riding Bird].

Tang Li Xue fed the white [Wind Riding Bird] with a Spirit Dew Cucumber while giving her instruction: ”Listen up, you will escort Little Seventh from now on. You just need to bring her to find her servants or parents later, then you can come back after that. Understand?”

KKEAAAAKKK~!!!

The white [Wind Riding Bird] chirped while nodding its head in understanding.

”Good bird... Thank you.” Tang Li Xue said again as she patted the [Wind Riding Bird]ʼs head and gave it another Spirit Dew Cucumber.

Tang Li Xue turned around to face Little Seventh again and explained: ”This is Big Sister Xueʼs mount. It will protect you and bring you back to your home.”

Tang Li Xue embraced Little Seventh and kissed Little Seventhʼs forehead before putting her on the [Wind Riding Bird]ʼs back.

”Go quickly now! Before those bad guys come again!” Tang Li Xue uttered as she patted at the [Wind Riding Bird] head.

KKEAAAAKKK~!!!

The white [Wind Riding Bird] flapped its wings and quickly soared into the sky.

”Big Sister Xue~!!!” Little Seventh shouted unwillingly while waving her tiny hands at Tang Li Xue.

Tang Li Xue was also waving her hands to Little Seventh and replied: ”Keep healthy and stay safe! We will certainly meet again soon!”

After sending Little Seventh away, Tang Li Xue planned to attract those assassinsʼ attention for some time until Little Seventh fled far enough.

Then she could easily retreat with her [Ethereal Form] and [Art of Concealment] later.

So what if those assassins have some way to track her?!

As long as she activated her [Ethereal Form] and [Art of Concealment], Tang Li Xue has full confidence that even those assassins would never be able to find her!

”Letʼs go too! Those persistent assassins would definitely come after us again very soon.” The perfect copy reminded Tang Li Xue and patted her shoulder.

Both Tang Li Xue and her perfect copy jumped back onto the flying disk and flew in opposite directions from Little Seventh to draw the attention of the assassins, so those assassins would only chase them.

.....

...

.

Unfortunately, not everything in this world could go according to everyoneʼs plan...

Assassin Towerʼs information agent frowned deeply at this time after he received the information from the targetʼs tracker.

”Fools! Sigh... Even the Ninth team is out of contact too right now. Eh, the targets are actually split up now?!” The information agent muttered as he considered their next action.

Tang Li Xue always thought these assassins only put the tracker on her alone.

But she never realized that these assassins actually put the tracker on BOTH Tang Li Xue and Little Seventh when they entered the two-floor luxurious restaurant before!

So, this information agent immediately found out that Tang Li Xue and Little Seventh already split up just now.

The information agent took out his communication talisman and contacted the rest of the assassin teams.

”The targets had separated from each other and ran in two different directions. The first, second, and third teams will go after the first target. The fourth, seventh, and eighth teams will chase the second target.” The information agent gave further instructions through his communication talisman.

”I shall warn all of you again. Our main target rank has been raised to Rank A. She had taken down three of our teams so far. So, be sure to really careful when any of you meet with our main target.” The information agent warned with a stern tone.

”All of you only need to stick with her and slowly wear her down while waiting for our Rank A assassinsʼ reinforcement to come!” The information agent reassured his teammates.

After thinking about it for a few moments, the information agent added some instructions again: ”It would be better if any of you could catch the additional target alive. We can use her as our hostage later to force our main target to surrender. It will definitely make our task much easier.”

”We got it! Keep our distance from the dangerous main target while slowly wearing her down and capturing the additional target, right?” the team leader replied from the communication talisman.

”Good! I wish you all the best of luck.” The information agent hung up his communication talisman.

.....

.

Meanwhile, Tang Li Xue tried her best to drive her flying disk as fast as she could.

”Damn, they are already here! How could the speed of their flying treasures be so high?!” Tang Li Xueʼs perfect copy complained in annoyance as she sensed several black-clothed assassins already almost caught up to them.

Tang Li Xue rolled her topaz blue eyes and replied: ”They are veteran assassins, so of course, they should be very fast. Chasing and killing their target is already their daily job. If they are slow, all of their assassination targets would already escape from them!”

These black-clothed assassins repeat what the previous assassins did.

They only cleverly kept their distance from Tang Li Xue while throwing all kinds of secret weapons, talismans, and spells toward her.

However, the current black-clothed assassins kept an even farther distance from Tang Li Xue compared to the previous assassins.

It seemed they already learned from the previous assassinsʼ mistakes.

”Tsk, they are even more vigilant and annoying than the previous assassins. Uh, wait a minute... Can they even hit us from that distance?” The perfect copy doubtfully asked.

BOOOOOMM~!!! BOOOOOMM~!!! BOOOOOMM~!!!

Most secret weapons, talismans, and spells exploded before they could even reach Tang Li Xue...

”Pfffttt~! They are really stupid.” The perfect copy mocked while giggling at those assassins.

”They are not stupid. Those scums are trying to exhaust us physically and mentally with their indiscriminate attacks.” Tang Li Xue told her guess.

Tang Li Xue frowned deeper while thinking: ʼBut their movement is still strange... It is as if they were waiting for something. Waiting for their reinforcement? So, they called even stronger assassins to kill me?ʼ

”I see, so slaying many of their comrades before made them re-evaluate my strength to a higher level. Tsk, so troublesome! But this is also good for us since we need to stall more time for Little Seventh to escape.” Tang Li Xue muttered her conclusion.

What happened next was just like what Tang Li Xue had guessed.

Those black-clothed assassins kept throwing attacks toward Tang Li Xue, even though none of their attacks could hit her since their distance was too far.

But they still did not care and kept attacking her.

When Tang Li Xue slowed her flying disk, those assassins hastily retreat further.

It looked so strange, as if they were playing a chasing game instead of being seriously wanted to kill each other.

But this was what Tang Li Xue had wanted...

Attract all of these assassins to focus on her and made them completely forget about Little Seventh.

Unfortunately, Tang Li Xue still did not know that the assassinsʼ information agent had already dispatched another assassin teams to capture Little Seventh!

.....

...

.

At this time, Little Seventh still sat lazily on the back of the [Wind Riding Bird].

The [Wind Riding Bird] tried its best to fly at the highest speed, but Little Seventh yawned instead, and then she held her flat stomach.

”Oops, I am still hungry.” Little Seventh muttered while frowning.

”Aiya~! What to do? I am so hungry~! Should I just eat you right now, white chicken?” Little Seventh said as she smiled sweetly, but her words were not sweet at all.

The [Wind Riding Bird] almost fell down when it heard Little Seventhʼs words.

If the [Wind Riding Bird] could talk, it probably wanted to protest and scolded: ʼDo you have a heart? I am trying so hard here to bring you back home, but you want to eat me instead!ʼ

”Ai, forget it~! Big Sister Xue would definitely get sad or even scold me if I eat her mount.” Little Seventh uttered with a reluctant tone, then she absentmindedly thought about what she wanted to eat after she went back home later.

While Little Seventh was busily thinking about what to eat, several assassin teams already caught up and got closer and closer to her from behind.

”We finally found the additional target! We will proceed to catch her alive!” One of the black-clothed assassins reported through his communication talisman.

All of the black-clothed assassins simultaneously took out chain weapons from their spatial rings and waited patiently until they were close enough to the [Wind Riding Bird].

The [Wind Riding Bird] already sensed their hostility.

It became panicked and flapped its wings more rapidly to increase its flying speed even more.

Unfortunately, the [Wind Riding Bird]ʼs effort was futile.

After getting close enough, those black-clothed assassins threw their chain weapons toward the [Wind Riding Bird].

Several chain weapons successfully bound the [Wind Riding Bird]ʼs head, wings, body, and feet.

Then those black-clothed assassins pulled the [Wind Riding Bird] down and forced it to land.

The [Wind Riding Bird] tried to struggle to free itself, but how could its meager strength match those several Core Formation Stage assassins?!

It did not even take those several black-clothed assassins much effort to pull down the [Wind Riding Bird] and made it land in the nearby forest.
