Beneath the Red Dragon

The entire reception room was filled with the scent of sandalwood, a fragrance that calms the mind, but in the nose and eyes of Brass Dragon Holister, the vast reception room flowed with the scent of those shining little darlings.

Dragons are inherently greedy. Even Ancient Dragons, who have reached an extremely old age, can overcome some of the shortcomings of Dragon Blood to a certain extent, but they cannot avoid the Source Desire that is born of their powerful bloodline, a desire deeper and stronger than that of ordinary races.

Some Ancient Giant Dragons, relying on the strength of their Dragon Blood, possess the power to independently challenge legends. If they have also transcended the limits of legends, they can even rival powerful demigods on the Prime Material Plane.

Logically, these powerful dragons should possess enough strength and wealth to embark on the most direct divine path within the True Dragon lineage—Divine Sealing Dragon.

Yet throughout the Cosmos, passed down from the most ancient times to the present, the number of True Dragons who have ascended to divinity using this method does not exceed a single claw.

This is because these dragons cannot resist or abandon their racial nature, and the vast majority don’t even have the thought of attempting.

But the idea of Brass Dragon Holister, who suggested taking benefits, was not purely derived from his nature, although it may be difficult for this dragon to discern which factor was more driving.

However, Metal Dragons have grown accustomed to this philosophy; as long as they don’t admit it, they can eternally stand on the unassailable moral high ground.

But Brass Dragon Holister felt that perhaps even after countless years passed and many of the things he himself experienced are forgotten, he would still remember the gaze of the Ancestral Red Dragon in front of him.

Within those dark golden pupils, there was not a trace of the hostility and irritability of the Colorful Dragon, only the calm of a serene green lake, so tranquil that Holister the Brass Dragon could only see his own reflection in the dragon’s pupils, with no other colors.

The Ancestral Red Dragon’s eyes seemed to be glowing, yet the light was merely reflecting all external reactions.

Even for dragons, this blatant hint of coveting one’s wealth did not stir any emotional waves in this Red Dragon.

”It seems this Red Monarch is an existence that cannot be moved from his resolve, not even the inherent nature of a dragon can influence his judgment,”

Brass Dragon Holister pondered silently in his heart. Grown to maturity, dragons like him are not fools, just like the gods in the heavens.

From an observer’s point of view, one might think they can be extremely foolish at times, but these ancient beings are not foolish, only extraordinarily stubborn.

This is a common trait among powerful and ancient beings, because they are powerful, they believe there is nothing wrong with their actions.

And mature Brass Dragons, unless trapped in a state of obsessive thinking, their wisdom rivals that of the most outstanding scholars among the short-lived races.

Brass Dragon Holister had already realized that the Ancestral Red Dragon avoided discussing the handling of Golden Dragon Oblash, which clearly represented the most apparent attitude from the other party.

Because the Ancestral Red Dragon’s actions bypassed the most important topic, a delicately flame dragon skull-carved sandalwood box appeared amid the Red Dragon’s massive claws.

Just this elaborately made and meticulously crafted box alone, if sold in the southern Rose City to prominent merchants who specialize in gifting to nobility, could fetch several gold coins.

Karon bared his sharp teeth, smiling as he placed this exquisitely scented, precious box in front of Brass Dragon Holister.

”Logically, the Golden Empire should prioritize the arrival of emissaries dispatched by the Good Dragon Alliance’s Inspectors with elaborate hospitality, hosting feasts is customary.”

”However, given the nascent phase of the empire’s establishment, even dragons like us, meant to soar in the azure skies, are bound by heavy matters, even more so for the ministers striving diligently for the empire,”

”Therefore, where hospitality is lacking, I ask for your understanding and tolerance.”

Brass Dragon Holister automatically filtered out the pleasantries from the Red Dragon, his innate dragon abilities allowing him, with just a light touch of the box’s weight with his claws, to know without using magic that inside were the glittering darlings all dragons would love.

Karon, seeing this, smiled, lifting his claw slightly, signaling Brass Dragon Holister to open the box and take a look.

The Brass Dragon knew the other wouldn’t aimlessly present this, ordinary gold wouldn’t prompt the Dragon Emperor who ruled the Golden Empire to take such a stance.

So the mature Brass Dragon grinned, carefully using his toe claws to push open the lid that would feel heavy to mortals.

Suddenly, the brilliant, dazzling, and blazing golden light reflected out, causing the Brass Dragon’s breathing to become slightly heavier.

These were a batch of gold coins whose craftsmanship and purity could be deemed collectible items for merchants, and the patterns and wording on the coins made them particularly appealing to Brass Dragon Holister.

The front of the gold coin features a finely carved dragon skull, with the unique appearance of Karon Gogomola, the founding Emperor of the Golden Empire and supreme ruler, as the coin’s imprint, adding some extra allure to the already charming coins.
