I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Could the similar dreams that appear repeatedly be hinting at some change in the physical state in reality?

”Is it convenient to talk about the contents of the dream? Is it a nightmare?”

Gauss asked.

”No.” Aaliyah shook her head.

Having similar dreams for several consecutive days, even she realized that something might not be quite right, so she shared her dream content with Gauss.

”It’s not a nightmare.”

”As soon as I fall asleep, I dream of coming to a place bathed in moonlight, where.....”

Aaliyah’s voice carried a hint of confusion and mystique, as if she was again drifting into that illusory scene through recalling and narrating.

Gauss glimpsed this scene, lost in thought, but did not interrupt her narrative.

”That place is vast but also quite... desolate. Beneath my feet is a silvery gray sand ground, above is an unbelievably huge moon emitting a gentle and clear brilliance, almost occupying half of the sky.”

”The moonlight is very bright but not dazzling at all, illuminating everything clearly, yet apart from the endless sand, there’s nothing else around, it’s eerily quiet.”

She paused, seemingly organizing her words.

”Then, out of nowhere, I suddenly had a seed in my hand. Very small, like a glowing pearl, warm. In the dream, there was a voice, or maybe a feeling, telling me to plant the seed.”

”So... you plant trees in your dream?” Gauss asked softly.

”Yes.” Aaliyah nodded, frowning slightly.

”It’s a very strange dream. In the dream, I couldn’t cast spells, and I had no tools at hand, so I could only dig a hole with my bare hands in the sand. I put the seed in, covered it with sand, and then...”

”And then? Did the tree grow?” Gauss pursued.

”The first time I dreamt it, no.” Aaliyah shook her head.

”I just sat next to the seed, watching it, wondering if it would sprout. Then the dream ended.”

”But, when I slept the next day, I had the same dream, returned to that place again.”

”I guarded it, not knowing how long it took, but eventually, a very small bud tip emerged.”

”In the following nights, I found water around, sprinkled a little on it, and it grew faster.”

The dream content sounded plain and simple, with no dramatic ”plot twists”.

Aaliyah lifted her snow-blue eyes to Gauss.

”Gauss, what do you think is going on here? Is it just a weird dream? Or... does it have something to do with my impending breakthrough? I’ve never had such continuous, realistic dreams before.”

”Besides, actually, I should have mentioned to you, Gauss, that from childhood to adulthood, I almost never had dreams.”

Gauss fell into contemplation.

This indeed did not seem like a normal phenomenon.

Gauss, although he doesn’t dream much usually, does occasionally have one or two dreams.

But a person like Aaliyah, who never dreams, suddenly having continuous dreams, especially planting trees in dreams.

Considering he had a nightmare himself once before, and it was confirmed during the encounter with the Lake God that it was influenced by some unknown entity, Aaliyah’s dream might also point to a higher being.

”Based on the dream content, it doesn’t seem like a bad thing.”

If it were in a previous life, Gauss certainly wouldn’t think blindly, but this is a world with gods.

It might just be some deity casting attention on this little Druid.

”You continue to plant trees in your dreams for now, and when we reach the next city, I’ll see if we can find someone to check it out.”

”Or, after we help investigate the anomaly in the snow mountain for the Lake God and return to Blue Lake, I’ll ask the Lake God about it for you.”

Aaliyah nodded upon hearing this.

She wasn’t overly worried about it; she just felt that informing Gauss about this abnormal situation made her feel a little more at ease.

Even if Gauss didn’t mention it, she was prepared to continue planting trees in her dream.

For most Druids, they love planting trees, or rather ”planting” is just a surface act, in deeper terms, it’s a method to heal the wounds of the land and restore ecological balance.

Even though Aaliyah didn’t have a fervent attitude towards it, since sleep time is indispensable, using it to plant trees in dreams was something she found worthwhile.

...

”Shoosh!!!”

A few Wooden Arrows shot from the forest.

Gauss casually deflected them.

The clone of Ying, which had been silently following the team, suddenly appeared behind several green-skinned goblins.

”Slash!!”

The sharp black shadow penetrated their bodies like a ground thorn.

A warm liquid spilled onto the ground, and these green-skinned creatures, oblivious to the situation, fell limp to the ground.

”Goblins killed *6”

Sitting at the back of the carriage, Abby slightly shifted her gaze.

”Total monsters killed: 9655”

”Don’t pity them, they came to take our lives, if we weren’t stronger, we’d be the ones lying on the ground now.” Gauss’s voice came from her ear. ”Abby, your magic talent is quite good, don’t waste it.”

Abby’s magic talent was naturally undisputed, otherwise, the witch Meghan wouldn’t have chosen her as her next body to extend her life.

But to become a qualified Professional, while inherent talent is crucial, sometimes character and mindset are equally vital.

”I understand, Lord Gauss.” Abby nodded.

Although Abby is only twelve, people of this era mature early, coupled with her life-altering experience, she’s aware of the world’s harshness and danger, making her much stronger than her peers.

”I won’t be afraid.”

Her gaze gradually turned resolute.

”I will teach you magic.” Gauss said softly.

Abby’s physique and talent had been fully ”matured” by Meghan, allowing her to begin her magic training.

Or rather, she must start her magic training.

Otherwise, this artificially overstimulated ”magic talent” would not only be unbeneficial, but might actually become a dreadful curse.

If not properly guided, it could quickly spiral out of control, forming a mana knot internally, causing bodily mutations, even turning her into an unstable bomb.

Of course, normally, this phenomenon is rarely seen under natural conditions.

”Abby, can you read?”

”Yes, I can.” Abby nodded.

Her father York taught children to read in the village, so she had indeed been educated in reading early on.

”Hmm.”

Gauss took out a Skill Book of ”Light Spell” from the Storage Pouch.

”Try learning it yourself first.”

He handed the Trick Book to Abby on the carriage.

The Light Spell is relatively mild among the tricks, and for stability, he didn’t choose offensive spells.

Moreover, he didn’t think Abby would fail to grasp it.

With the aid of his ”Enlightenment,” and her talent, mastering this trick was inevitable.

It was merely a matter of time.

Gauss, watching Abby take the Trick Book and start studying earnestly in her father York’s embrace, could not help but nod affirmatively.

You never know which path will be a blessing in disguise.

Being captured by the witch Meghan, experiencing more than half a month of captivity was undoubtedly an unfortunate ordeal, but looking at it now, it was this experience that allowed her to prematurely activate her magic talent and realize the importance of strength earlier.

Could she become a genius Mage?

Looking at her, Gauss inexplicably thought of his first small apprentice, Rhine.

How well is that little one learning now?

Before leaving, Gauss had prepared plenty of notes, books, and tricks for her.

It should keep her learning for a while.

Otherwise, after completing the investigation of the snow mountain anomaly and collecting the reward from the Lake God, he should go back to check on her.

Recalling the last day, seeing the little one’s reluctant expression from afar, he suddenly felt nostalgic.

However, by that time, he should have already advanced to the Master Level, right?
