I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

”Wait...”

Gauss watched her pull out the giant axe, instinctively feeling something was off.

While stopping Albena, he glanced down at the small shield in his hand.

First of all, it’s not that he didn’t trust the water weapon given by the Lake God Metela, but...

Objectively speaking, this small water shield didn’t seem capable of withstanding the chop of a giant axe as tall as a person, right?

Don’t try it and end up dead.

As for why he was confident in Aaliyah taking action, wasn’t it a matter of playing on people’s strengths?

Thinking that even if she broke through the water shield’s defense, there was still the Gauss Force Field and the protective Moonlight Robe to support.

But Albena’s melee attack power isn’t something to take lightly, right?

A level 6 warrior, an excellent-quality weapon, plus a part of giant bloodline that provides natural divine power.

This is enough to leave anyone bewildered.

”Lord Gauss, are you ready?” Albena blinked her eyes in confusion.

Gauss first ”refreshed” his Gauss Position, then confirmed the defensive layer of the Moonlight Robe was intact, and finally quietly activated the ”Tough Scale Bloodline” to strengthen his body’s physical durability before nodding to Albena.

”Alright, you... take care.”

”Don’t worry, Lord Gauss. I’ll be careful of your countershock.” Albena nodded confidently.

No, that’s not what I meant to warn you about.

In the next moment, Albena’s feet suddenly stomped the ground, her tall figure bursting with speed that was completely disproportionate to her body, leaping high with the giant axe in both hands, and slashing fiercely from top to bottom at the seemingly fragile small water shield.

”Boom!!”

The commotion this time couldn’t be compared to Aaliyah’s wooden staff tap.

A dull sound rang out, and a violent airwave spread from the impact point, making everyone’s clothes flap in the wind.

Aaliyah raised her hand to shield her face to prevent sand from flying into her eyes.

Gauss, the party concerned, only felt a surge of immense power rushing towards him.

However, the water-form round shield showcased its miraculous traits once again.

The soft shield surface rippled violently, like boiling water, and the blue light within flickered faster than ever before, as if absorbing and dissolving this heavy force with all its might.

Although the shield’s thirty to forty centimeters diameter size seemed precarious compared to the giant axe as tall as an ordinary person, if observed closely, the sharp axe blade was consistently absorbed by the layer of seemingly soft water film, unable to penetrate.

The two forces were locked in a fierce stalemate.

Suddenly... Bang!

Both were sent flying backward.

Gauss’s body gracefully spun in the air to dissipate the force, and landed steadily on the ground.

Albena staggered a few steps but managed to control her body by stamping down hard, thanks to her formidable physical strength.

The previously even ground was now speckled with cracks due to their clash, resembling the aftermath of a minor earthquake.

”Phew—”

Gauss exhaled.

Looking at the small water shield in his hand with delight.

Its defense was stronger than he had anticipated.

Despite being knocked back, he hadn’t taken much damage due to the water shield’s presence; instead, the terrifying force Albena wielded to split mountains and rocks was dissolved and absorbed by the water shield.

His flight backward was simply part of the force-dissipation technique.

”Lord Gauss is so strong.”

Albena put away her double-edged axe, looking at Gauss and couldn’t help expressing her heartfelt admiration.

Although she deliberately held back a fraction of her strength throughout to ensure that when the shield broke, she could stop her momentum instantly to avoid harming Gauss, it didn’t mean the attack was ordinary.

Due to her extraordinary ability in force control, the attack had actually reached ninety percent of her full explosive power.

Even then, she still couldn’t break through the seemingly delicate small water shield.

She felt as though she had slashed into a bottomless lake, her power infinitely diluted by gentle currents.

And, in the end, it returned a portion of the diluted power back to her.

This water weapon was indeed extremely powerful.

And a strong weapon = a strong Lord Gauss.

Gauss merely maintained a smile.

Then, the small water shield began freely morphing in shape again.

Bow and arrow, dagger, spear, and his most frequently used melee weapon - longsword.

Gauss looked at the solid water sword in his hand. Unlike the water shield form, the sword-shaped water weapon emitted an aura of sharpness.

Water, the softest yet hardest.

Gauss swung the sword upward at the ground.

The Sword Qi of White Falcon Swordsmanship burst forth.

”Ssss—”

In an instant, the sword blade effortlessly plunged into the ground, creating a smooth and neat cut.

Moreover, Gauss vaguely sensed that the strength of this water weapon seemed not to be static; it appeared capable of enhancing its strength through some method.

Truly a perfect weapon...

Gauss was filled with joy.

Having prepared himself mentally that the Lake God’s blessing ceremony was just a formality, the generously bestowed weapons from the Lake God Metela now seemed exceptionally precious treasures.

Now, the investigation commission for pollution entrusted to him truly needed his utmost dedication.

Walking on the road, he happened to encounter some goblins.

Gauss took the opportunity to test his newly acquired ”Divine Weapon” on them.

He found another benefit of the water weapon was that it required no maintenance or cleaning, ready for use anytime without leaving stains.

This made his actions in eliminating goblins much more swift and spared him from quite a bit of work.
