I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 559: Chapter 309: Prize Selection_2

”Aside from festival prizes, every year Yuge Town allocates a portion of its revenue to purchase magical items and prizes, to reward the adventurers who have made outstanding contributions to Yuge Town.”

When mentioning this, the lady leading the way also carried a hint of pride in her tone.

”Oh?”

Gauss nodded.

After walking through a corridor dense with runes, Gauss arrived at a bright reception hall.

Two people were already waiting inside the hall.

One was a slightly plump middle-aged man with shrewd eyes, the other was an old man leaning on a cane.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Gauss went straight to the point.

”Do you have any preferences for the magical item prizes?”

The staff at the treasury asked while handing over a list of prizes.

As the champion of this year’s Blue Lake Hunting Tournament, he had the privilege of selecting two items first from this prize list as his reward.

This was also why he asked the Adventurer’s Guild staff, who brought him here without hesitation.

As the champion, he enjoyed the priority of choosing first; other contestants, even if they arrive at Yuge Town before him, must wait until he finishes his selection before they can choose.

”Let me take a look first...”

Gauss’s gaze quickly scanned the list.

In fact, there weren’t too many magical item prizes listed.

He already had a rough idea before coming here.

”Can I have a look at all the magical items in person?”

Gauss, seeing the quantity wasn’t too much, asked.

He felt that seeing them in person would allow for a more accurate choice.

”Uh...” The shrewd-looking middle-aged man looked troubled.

However, before he could struggle further, the silent old man beside him made the decision.

”Certainly, but please wait here for a moment.”

Gauss quickly realized that among the two, the old man was in a position of leadership.

”Thank you.”

He sat in the reception room for a while.

The staff brought out one magical item after another from the treasury.

Gauss also saw several magical items he was interested in from the list.

His eyes first locked onto a moon-white mage robe.

A few days ago, he had attended a banquet wearing a white robe, but it was an ordinary one he had casually bought before from the roadside, not special at all.

The black mage robe he usually wore was apparently outdated for his current level.

He needed to upgrade his equipment.

”Can I use the Identification Technique to examine it?” Gauss looked at the old man to inquire.

He had requested to see the actual items, naturally, for using the Identification Technique.

”Go ahead,” the old man continued.

The old man wasn’t surprised that Gauss focused on the moon-white mage robe; it was, after all, the most valuable prize on the list.

Originally, the reward here should have been a set of magic armor, but two days ago, it had been firmly decided to replace it with this mage robe.

Hearing the old man’s permission, Gauss didn’t hesitate further.

He took out his Magic Wand, cast Identification Technique, and lightly tapped on the robe.

Upon closer inspection, the robe was not purely moon-white; some parts had subtle golden patterns mixed in, giving it an indescribable elegance.

As the Identification Technique took effect, the robe revealed a different color in his eyes.

Not white, not blue, but a shade of purple that surprised Gauss.

A purple-quality mage robe?

Purple stands for exceptional quality magical equipment, generally tailored for master-level professionals.

However, despite this, many impoverished master-level professionals still used shabby blue-quality equipment; wealthy owners like Albena, possessing three pieces of exceptional equipment, were still a minority.

The Identification Technique’s details soon appeared.

[Moonlight Robe]

Level: Exceptional Magic Item (Purple Quality)

Description: Created by a mage obsessed with the power of moonlight and stars, it was her passionate work. She attempted to weave the energy radiated by stars into it. Though not fully successful, the robe unexpectedly received an extraordinary spirit beyond ordinary equipment.

Basic Enchantment Effect 1: Moonlight Storage, it will absorb energy from the environment under moonlight and stars and store it.

Basic Enchantment Effect 2: Star’s Blessing, the robe perpetually maintains an invisible protective field that offers substantial defense and can also resist one soul-level curse or mental invasion. This effect, once used, will consume the stored moonlight energy to recover.

Basic Enchantment Effect 3: Travel Essential, the robe boasts an extremely strong self-repairing ability and self-cleaning ability, with no stain being able to taint it for long.

Basic Enchantment Effect 4: Tranquil Heart, it helps the wearer maintain a stronger casting focus and stabilizes their mind more easily when disturbed. Additionally, when engaging in spell learning, theoretical deduction, or magical creation, thoughts become clearer and sharper, occasionally resulting in moments of inspiration. The wearer’s Intelligence and Charm attributes will increase to a certain extent.

Gauss, after reviewing the robe’s effects, was certain this was the equipment he needed.

First, its purple quality made Gauss very excited.

Before this, he only had one exceptional magic item, the [Universal Key], which he hadn’t used yet.

The robe was different from the key; its importance to a mage was probably second only to a handy Magic Staff.

It’s foreseeable that if he chooses this robe, it will be his outfit for a considerable time during his outings.
