Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 285: Chapter 283: Daily Prophet

After asking several times in a row and still getting no response, Kai reluctantly put the diary back in the box.

Has it crashed?

What a pity, he still had more exciting, unmade-up... um, unsaid stories.

Such a weak psychological endurance.

Kai put the box, along with the ink bottle, back under the bed, then tidied up the parchment on the table.

After a careful examination, Kai found two more places with errors, and they were all minor details that could easily be overlooked if not careful.

One might be a coincidence, but three in a row having issues... is clearly intentional.

Riddle certainly isn’t a well-behaved child. It’s only been a few days, and he’s already thinking about causing trouble.

Kai shook his head and continued comparing other contents on the parchment with the ”Magic Rune Collection”.

...

”Kai, where have you been all day?”

As twilight fell, Kai left the Room of Requirement and had just arrived in the auditorium when Fred and George rushed over, pulling him to sit down at the Gryffindor table.

”I was reading,” Kai said, ”What’s up?”

”Reading... all day?” Fred seemed incredulous.

”And you didn’t even have lunch!” George said, ”We waited for you in the auditorium for two hours at noon.”

”Too absorbed in reading, forgot,” Kai calmly explained.

”What did you want me for?”

”No wonder you can get full marks...” Fred muttered softly but didn’t press further.

He took out a copy of the ”Daily Prophet”.

”I know why Lucius Malfoy is so angry. Look at this!”

Seeing the familiar flying car photo on the front page of the Daily Prophet, Kai was slightly taken aback.

”Why are you bringing out a newspaper from a few days ago?”

”This is today’s newspaper, but they used the same photo again.”

George pointed to the prominent headline above the photo:

”The King’s Cross Station Conspiracy, Savior Hanging by a Thread.”

It was still an article by Rita Skeeter.

But unlike the last time when the entire piece criticized Mr. Weasley, in this article, he suddenly turned into a meticulous, calculated positive figure.

Although it was just a short sentence... but in an article by Rita Skeeter, having so many complimentary words was already rare.

Besides that, the remaining content wasn’t so friendly.

”We learned that on the day Hogwarts started, the entrance to Platform 9¾ was suddenly closed early, preventing two students from entering the platform.

An insider revealed that one of those two students was none other than Harry Potter, who defeated You-Know-Who...”

The article very detailedly described the scene at the time, as if she was there in person.

”Closing the platform early requires a very deep Confundus Charm, which even an Auror couldn’t easily achieve...

But according to a student’s parent, he seemed to have seen a man in black robes at King’s Cross Station... that kind of attire resembles the notorious Death Eaters of the past.

The Ministry of Magic personnel responsible for guarding the platform stated that when the entrance was closed, he was clearing the memory of a Muggle family... who accidentally saw wizards entering the platform due to being attracted by an owl’s hoot.”

...

Kai turned to Fred and George, ”Did Muggles see you?”

The only wizards entering the platform before the closure were the Weasleys.

”No... I don’t think so,” George wasn’t very sure either.

”But when we were at King’s Cross Station, we didn’t hear any owl hooting.”

Kai nodded and continued reading.

”Is this a coincidence? Or was the platform closure a carefully planned conspiracy, someone trying to kill Harry Potter to avenge You-Know-Who?

And that person might be hiding among the parents sending their children...”

”We received a letter from home this morning.”

Fred said with a hint of joy in his voice, ”Dad’s investigation is over.”

”It’s all thanks to you, Kai,” George stepped forward and patted him heavily on the shoulder.

Kai shook his head.

In fact, even without him, Dumbledore wouldn’t have let Mr. Weasley lose his job, it just wouldn’t have been this quick.

”Looks like Lucius Malfoy must have gotten the news in advance, knowing Mr. Weasley was fine.”

Kai smiled, ”No wonder he said yesterday that ’Weasley’ won’t always be so lucky, instead of ’you’...”

”Exactly.”

Fred couldn’t help but laugh, ”And that’s not all, look at this again!”

He turned the newspaper to a page, where there was another passage on the back.

”The Ministry of Magic member guarding the platform said he saw a total of six wizards at King’s Cross Station that day, including Lucius Malfoy...”

Seeing this name, Kai immediately understood what Fred and George meant.

Lucius was already under suspicion as a ”suspected Death Eater”, knowing Fudge’s character, he most likely investigated this matter after learning about it.

”Rita Skeeter... truly impressive.”

Fred smacked his lips and said, ”We prepared three letters in total but only sent one.”

”The other two letters were discarded,” George shrugged, ”She wrote way more detailed than we did.”

”Probably someone else also wrote to her.”

At this point, Harry, standing nearby, said thoughtfully, ”Look here... only people at school knew I ran into the Whomping Willow, but she also found out.”

”Exactly, we were thinking the same thing,” George laughed.

Although the development of things was a bit beyond their expectations, as long as Mr. Weasley could smoothly pass the investigation, it didn’t matter who wrote the letter.

...

In the Magic Realm, any topic related to You-Know-Who or the Death Eaters would instantly become popular.

Even though a day had already passed, while having dinner, people in the auditorium would still occasionally sneak a glance at Harry.

On the main guest table, Lockhart was also discussing the incident with other professors, bragging that he wasn’t at the station at the time, otherwise he would definitely have caught that Death Eater.

As for Harry... he didn’t care about these people’s stares.

Mainly because after so long, he had already gotten used to it... this wasn’t even as bad as last year when he first enrolled, which was even more exaggerated.

Besides, he had other things on his mind.

To be honest, after reading today’s Daily Prophet, even Harry himself began to doubt if it was real.

Everything seemed too coincidental.

He couldn’t help but think back to the holidays, when the house-elf named Dobby intercepted his letters and got him warned by the Ministry of Magic.

That elf also didn’t want him to return to Hogwarts.

Why did it do that? Was it connected to the platform incident? Did it have any ties to Voldemort... or the Death Eaters?

Harry pondered these questions endlessly.
