Yue Tingfeng knew Mrs. Yue rarely bought pearl jewelry. Her preference was more toward jade and gemstones. Now that pearls were being produced artificially, Mrs. Yue hardly ever wore her pearl jewelry which was how Yue Tingfeng knew that the necklace was a gift.

Mrs. Yue rarely accepted jewelry from her friends and even if she did, it was usually of the precious gemstone variety.

Only Yan Ruke would gift a pearl necklace because she liked jewelry that was ‘new wave and eye-catching’.

The key point was that it was not worth much. Just a ‘small present’ which made it hard for Mrs. Yue to reject the gift.

Mrs. Yue uttered softly, “I… I quite like it… The workmanship on this necklace is very delicate… Very casual.”

Yue Tingfeng narrowed his eyes. “Do you think I care about the f*cking necklace? Take it off and throw it. Don’t dilly-dally.”

When Yue Tingfeng loses his temper, no one was safe, not even his own mother.

Mrs. Yue surrendered and muttered, “Fine, fine.”

Mrs. Yue removed the necklace and tossed it onto the floor. “Aunt Wu, take it. Take it away. Don’t irritate the Young Master.”

Aunt Wu rushed over, scooped the necklace from the floor and ran out of the house.

Mrs. Yue shouted after her, “Throw it further away.”

“Yes. Understood, ma’am.”

Yue Tingfeng said coldly, “Ma, remember what I said. Stay away from her. She’s only going to use you for her gain.”

Mrs. Yue huffed out a breath and sat down. “I… I… I’m only there because I’m bored. You’re hardly ever home and I have no one to talk to.”

“You can go and live with Dad overseas.”

A disapproving look crossed Mrs. Yue’s face. “Don’t bring him up. Unless it’s about his passing, I don’t want to hear about him.”

Yue Tingfeng nodded his head. “Okay.”

He never did care much about his parents’ relationship. It had always been like this since he was young. There was nothing much he could do.

Mrs. Yue said, “Oh right, yesterday during the mahjong session, Mrs. Helan mentioned that her daughter is turning eighteen and will be having a party. She wanted to invite you.”

Yue Tingfeng rubbed his forehead. “We’ll talk about it another day.”

Mrs. Yue said to Yue Tingfeng, “Hold on a minute. You made me throw away that necklace. Buy me a new one. I want the best one.”

Yue Tingfeng let out a huff of frustration and pulled out the coins that Yan Qingsi gave him. “Take this then.”

Mrs. Yue felt like pushing this b*stard back into her womb.

‘Your mother wants a pearl necklace and you give me coins?’

Watching Yue Tingfeng make his way up the stairs, Mrs. Yue slammed her hand down on the table and stood up. “Come back here.”

Unexpectedly, Yue Tingfeng actually turned around. On normal days, he would have ignored her.

Yue Tingfeng’s quick steps carried him right up in Mrs. Yue’s face. He snatched the two coins from her hand. “If you don’t want it, I’ll take it back.”

“You… You…”

What did she ever do to deserve a child like him? Someone who demanded back two yuan from his mother.

There was something suspicious about all this. Her son never carried change.

Mrs. Yue followed with a question. “My son, my son… Was this the money they gave you after they tricked you?”

Hearing that, Yue Tingfeng turned around and said, “Ma, that jade necklace that caught your eye, you have not paid for it right?”

“Keke… That… I remember now, Mrs. Wang invited me to a game. I’ll leave first.”

Mrs. Yue excused herself hastily.

Yue Tingfeng went upstairs and made a call. “Jiang Lai, buy me a house in Splendid Residences. Don’t care about the price, just make sure I get it. Shut them up with money.”
