Child of Destiny

While Shin was being ‘tortured’ by Doran with his special training, and Arthur and the rest were still trapped within the mission dungeon, some things started to move in the real world.

The Springfield Family had organized a special task force to rescue the friend that Arthur had mentioned.

Aside from some personal attachments due to the young master’s request, the Springfield Family had also put quite a lot of weight on this operation, especially when Lawrence, the main subject of the operation, was also a target of great importance.

Based on the information that they had gotten from Arthur, Lawrance had gotten the inheritance that the Dark King of the Ancient Tang Clan had left behind.

Tang Hyeon was a legend even among all the legends. He had lived during the ancient era and established his name during that time as one of the most powerful experts who lived throughout an entire era.

Of course, the title ‘Dark King of the Ancient Tang Clan’ was not on the same level as a ‘Conqueror-Level’ of inheritance, which concerned the most notable figures of the previous eras, who also dominated everyone during their time.

Conquerors like the first king who unified multiple states during the era of war and chaos and united them into a single nation.

Then there was the great warrior who had united all nomadic tribes and forged the largest contiguous land empire in history.

Also, the wise queen has established herself as a great woman who has led an entire nation through her captivating charisma, wit, and intellect.

There was also a powerful general who had conquered nations to create one of the largest empires and had an undefeatable legend.

Alongside these rulers were the absolute experts, like the said Ancient Sword Venerable and the Holy Abbot, who led the first ancient Martial Alliance in the previous era.

There was also the first person to be called the ‘Heavenly Demon’ and the leader of the Divine Cult of the ancient cultivation era, which was the direct counterpart of the Martial Alliance at that time.

Some ancient experts lived much earlier than these people, as well as the powerful entities that roamed the world at that time, such as those with the title of ‘Lords’, like the Thunder Lord, Dragon Lord, Sky Lord, and many others.

These people were the absolute legends of the previous eras and the most powerful experts who left their marks in the annals of history.

The inheritance left behind by Dark King Tang Hyeon might not be as significant as these ‘Greats’, but it was more than enough to move the people of the current era.

After all, Dark King Tang Hyeon was said to be closest to reaching the level of the three Venerable Entities and the Heavenly Demon of his era.

Moreover, there was also some vague knowledge that he had achieved those realms before the end of his life.

Such significance could almost reach the same level as the inheritance left behind by the Thunder Lord, which caused a major disaster during the previous occasion in the Eastern Sea Region of the Soaring Continent.

It was also a special and unified operation launched by the Springfield Family, Magic Ace Academy, and Top Military School.

This information alone was more than enough for the Springfield Family to mobilize their elite forces and take this operation with full caution.

They were about to be ready to launch the operation when something unexpected occurred. Their intelligence network had discovered some oddities with the movements of the targeted organization.

They had spent quite a lot of time and effort just to find the right location of their main target, which was based on the initial information that Lawrence had provided them.

After a series of meticulous checks and scouting, they managed to finally formulate the perfect rescue operation.

However, before they could even muster their forces, their scouts had spotted quite a lot of notable agents that they were very familiar with.

They had also discovered some signs of the Black Serpent Mafia in the surroundings, who seemed to be preparing a secret deal with their target organization. Given the increasing movements in the area, the scouts had also realized that this was not just a simple deal.

Understanding that this could affect their operation, the scouts immediately reported their discovery directly to the higher-ups and waited for further instruction.

The moment the forces of the Black Serpent Mafia appeared on the location, they knew that this was no longer a simple rescue operation.

A war might break out once they made their move, so it was better to report it to their superiors and readjust their plans before the worst could even come.

Nathan, who just received the reports from his subordinates, immediately realized that this was going to be yet another troublesome situation.

Catching yet another tail of their enemy, he knew that he had to take this more seriously and plan more thoroughly to avoid any accidents in the process.

This was the main reason why the operation had been pushed back for a few more days. Such delays might create some noticeable movements that could attract unnecessary attention, but Nathan cleverly used this information to their advantage, drawing a false movement here and there to mislead the eyes watching them.

Meanwhile, their main forces were already moving toward their targeted location in haste.

…

“Dragon King, don’t you think this is a bit inappropriate?” said Scar, who was clearly displeased with Nathan’s actions.

“We are here to instruct my little nephew and protect him in secret, yet here you are constantly dragging us everywhere and involved in your meaningless conflicts,” he added as he sat at the bow of the ship.

They were about to head back to their homeland after making sure that Leonard was doing fine and planned to leave a couple of warriors to protect Leonard in secret.

However, their matriarch had directly ordered them to stay and learn more about the situation here, especially after finding out that the Voidwalkers were getting active once again.

Nathan, who was standing slightly behind this person, chuckled. “Aren’t you bored? You have been complaining about not doing anything meaningful these last few weeks and looking for some action.”

“I am only allowing you to exercise your bodies to avoid yourselves from being too rusty,” he added before pointing to himself. “Aren’t I here as well? Don’t worry, I will make this little trip quite entertaining.”

That was right, Nathan dragged Scar and his brothers from the Asad Tribe to join this operation as an extra precaution.

He originally thought of sending three general-level experts from their forces, but he decided to take the matter into his own hands, especially after learning that the movements of the Black Serpent Mafia were getting more suspicious lately.

These people were very skilled at hiding and erasing their traces, making it extremely hard to track.

If not for the most recent event that happened in the Dark Continent, when both the Shadow Alliance and Black Serpent Mafia launched an attack on the Headhunter Organization, then they would have a hard time finding them.

Now that they had accidentally stepped on their tail while planning to launch a rescue operation, Nathan did not want any mistakes to happen.

If his suspicions were right, then the target of the Black Serpent Mafia was the same as theirs.

Adding the information that he had gotten from Arthur, he was sure that the kid had more significance to the Black Serpent Mafia other than the legacy left behind by Dark King Tang Hyeon.

Familiar with the methods that the Black Serpent Mafia used when dealing with these matters, Nathan knew that they would have most likely prepared a contingency plan when the situation turned out to be against their favor.

At worst, they would even have a few powerhouses at Domain Realm or Venerable Realm on standby to ensure the success of their mission.

This was the main reason why Nathan had dragged Scar and the warriors of the Asad Tribe with him.

Nathan and Scar alone were more than enough to deal with unexpected situations, so long as the opposing side did not bring their main force for such a ‘simple’ operation.

Along with the two general-level experts that he had brought with him, who were also leading the operation on the outside, he felt more assured that they could minimize any kind of unexpected variables.

While Nathan was reviewing the details of the operation, Scar, who was sitting at the bow of the ship to enjoy the wind, suddenly sensed something.

Sniff! Sniff!

Or more specifically, he had smelled something unpleasant.

“The scent of the blood. It seems like we are entering an extremely brutal part of the ocean,” commented Scar after realizing what was going on.

“We are doing this operation in utmost secrecy, so it is only natural for us to use the less conventional route to avoid any form of surveillance,” explained Nathan.

Hearing this, the corner of Scar’s mouth could not help but twitch, and he commented. “Less conventional route!? More like a suicide route!”

“You are truly crazy! You want to thread through this hellish place?” he said while slightly raising his brows.

However, despite his little complaints, he never looked worried or troubled. He even looked too excited, which was quite the opposite of his words.

The warriors’ blood flowing through his veins was already boiling in excitement and anticipation.

A true warrior never backs down from any form of fight or a challenge, regardless of its setting. They would always be ready to face anything, whether it was from the land or the sea.
