Child of Destiny

Lawrence had no idea of what had transpired right after Tang Hyeon had sent him back.

When his spirit was sent back to his body, and his consciousness returned into the game, he felt like the entire events had been nothing but a mere illusion that was created by the system.

However, the flood of knowledge that was filling his head was real. He needed quite a lot of time to digest all this knowledge, and more to put them in practice.

His eyes remained closed while he meditated in a cross-legged position, and doing his best to digest everything.

Some of this knowledge seemed to go into the depths of his mind, especially the ones that he was unable to comprehend. They were all sealed there, waiting for the time that he was strong and knowledgeable enough to understand their meaning and essence.

He did not know how much time had passed since he had been in this state. However, he felt that he had been in it for dozens or so years.

This was the impression that the flood of knowledge was given to him. He felt like he had experienced a lot while digesting and processing all of them. It was as if he had personally experienced a tiny portion of the life that Tang Hyeon had lived.

It might be extremely tiny when compared to the lifespan that this legendary figure had, but it was already quite huge for someone as young as Lawrence.

After a while, he slowly opened his eyes, which released a pale green glow followed by a strong and invisible pressure.

Boom!

The air filling the place seemed to have become heavier due to this, creating a subtle explosion around him.

Hoo~!

At the same time, he exhaled a lot of air, which carried a green vapor of miasma.

“Eh!?”

He was taken aback when he saw this, especially after realizing that this vapor carried a huge portion of impurities that his body used to have.

At the same time, he could also see a mixture of toxins coming from the miasma, which was something that he did not have despite the traits that he had gotten from his transcendent race.

He had yet to fully become a true transcendent being since he had yet to undergo any kind of transcendent ritual or any ceremonial offerings from his designated church.

Along with this, he also realized something different about his body, which he had never felt before.

He then subconsciously turned toward himself, realizing that he was currently not wearing anything. He was fully naked while the surface of his skin was constantly releasing a sticky goo and foul stench.

“What the heck!”

He swiftly stood up after realizing his current state before sitting down once again to hide his precious pearls.

It was also at that moment that he realized he was currently at the center of an elevated platform, which was sitting right at the center of a boiling pool of toxins.

He could see that black smoke was rising from this pool, which was highly toxic for those who came in contact with it.

He could even see that the ceiling of this place was somewhat being corroded by this black miasma, which in turn produced droplets of toxins that fell back to pool.

“What is this place?” he mumbled before sweeping his gaze at the surroundings.

He could also see that there were huge pillars supporting the ceiling of this place, which seemed to need four to five fully grown men to hug it.

Looking at the patterns drawn and engraved on the surface of these pillars, Lawrence was able to tell that this place was no ordinary altar.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

While observing the surroundings, he also realized that the surrounding miasma was slowly being attracted toward his direction.

“What!?”

He first panicked when he saw this occur, especially after seeing how potent and dangerous the miasma was. It was clear that they were made from highly toxic substances.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

He did not know what to do when he realized that his body seemed to be actively devouring the miasma before turning them into an extremely pure nutrient for his body.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

He could feel that his heart was pumping hard, making his blood flow much faster. He felt like his entire body was on drugs, feeling the energy that these toxins provided to his body.

The adrenaline rush was so strong that he felt like exploding.

“What! What is happening now!?” he suddenly became scared of what was happening to his body. “Is this one of those toxins that put you in an extreme state before exploding?”

He was panicking when his body seemed to move on its own.

“What!” he was taken aback when he realized that his body was already moving on instinct. It was as if it had already done this countless times, making his movements extremely natural and unhurried.

He sat cross-legged at the center of the platform before entering a meditation state. He then instinctively followed a certain cultivation method to circulate the ‘nutrients’ that his body had absorbed.

Hoo~! Ha~! Hoo~! Ha~!

He immediately realized that his body was constantly being tempered, particularly his veins and meridians.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

What followed was the tempering of his flesh and bones, then his innards and other organs.

Thump! Thump!

He could feel that his entire being was slowly being transformed into something greater. It seemed to be even greater than the original Transcendent Race that he was supposed to have.

This was not even an ordinary transformation, or even an evolution. It was a complete metamorphosis!

Feeling the overflowing strength circulating within his body, Lawrence could not help but clench his fist tight before engraving everything within his mind and spirit.

He was making sure that he would be able to bring this knowledge to the real world and practice it later.

He could still remember what Tang Hyeon had told him. He needed to follow the ‘program’ inside the game to practice and build a great foundation for his future.

He was memorizing all the pathways that the energy within his body was taking and engraving all the circulation process within his heart.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

This lasted for quite a long while until the pool of toxins was fully dried up.

Hu~!

He then exhaled quite deeply before slowly opening his eyes.

BOOM!

A much stronger pressure was released from his body, making the entire place shake violently.

System: Congratulations on successfully becoming the ‘Child of Poisons (Transcendent Being)’!

“Ah!?” Lawrence could not help but slightly raise his brows when he saw this notification.

Given his initial knowledge about Transcendent Beings, he could tell that there were still a few divisions among them, such as the purity of their bloodline or the potency of their legacies.

From what he could tell, this Transcendent Race that he currently had could be ranked at the top of the list.

He was still not sure if he could match those unrivaled beings, such as Dragonkin, Primordial Beast, Nephilim, Ancient Elf, True Undead, and others.

However, he could at least tell that it must be on the same line as the High Humans, Chaos Observer, and such.

After all, this legacy was supposed to be the reflection of the path that Dark King Tang Hyeon had once walked.

Starting this day, he had to thoroughly study everything about this race and the class that came alongside it to become worthy of his master’s name.

He would never sully the name of the person who had acknowledged his potential and awakened him from the blindness of revenge.

After adjusting his mood, he immediately opened his status window and checked his basic information, noting the changes.

“What!?”

The very first thing that attracted his attention was neither his race nor his class. Instead, it was his level.

“What the heck! I am almost 190!” he shouted in mixed emotion, unable to fully express what he was feeling.

He was extremely excited and confused at the same time.

For everyone’s knowledge, it was extremely hard to level up right after the players broke through the level 150 mark and passed the trials of reaching the Tier 3 Master Classes.

When he entered this place, he was barely at Level 160. Even Gunner, who had the highest level among them from the side of the Black Market, was barely at level 180.

In comparison, Lawrence was now 9 to 10 levels ahead of him.

He even felt he was ahead of the other parties currently in this operation.

“This is so amazing!” he mumbled, unable to believe what he was seeing.

It took him quite a while before he was able to calm himself down.

It was only at that moment that he turned his gaze toward his Transcendent Race and Class.
