Reborn As Noble

Meanwhile.

Javier walked toward his personal workshop, nodding politely as the household maids bowed to him and the patrolling guards saluted. He kept walking, his steps steady and purposeful, until his personal workshop building came into view, standing next to the pekko pen.

In front of the open courtyard, a huge orange pekko was sprawled out, sunbathing lazily, his feathers gleaming under the morning light. Buddy’s eyes were half-closed, his body completely relaxed as he soaked in the warmth.

Buddy tilted his head the moment he noticed Javier approaching. He stood up slowly, stretching his wings with a lazy flap before letting out a cheerful squawk.

”Cuquawked!”

”Oh. Morning, my mischievous orange menace~ Looks like you woke up early today, huh?”

Buddy bobbed his head, a smug smirk curling on his beak as he puffed his chest out with pride.

”Cuquawked!” (Of course! Now. Breakfast.~)

Javier jumped casually, landing smoothly on Buddy’s back before Buddy turned his head to glance at him. Javier patted his neck lightly.

”Later, Buddy. For now, I have something to do. Now, now... start walking so I can focus on this.”

Buddy let out a low, accepting squawk before beginning to walk with his usual confident, bouncy stride, his head held high, each step deliberate and proud.

Javier snapped his fingers, and a portable mana computer materialized before him, its sleek surface humming as he connected it to a glowing magic device. The floating cube drifted gently toward it. Javier’s hands moved quickly, typing out lines of magical coding, his fingers dancing across the keyboard as he focused intently on the task at hand.

”Cuquawked?” (What are you working on, Master?)

”Ah, nothing much, Buddy. It’s just that Armand managed to secure an important target that we believe will give us an advantage over someone. And I believe this girl comes from the same continent where Celine is from.”

”Cuquawked~” (Ah~ The foreign princess~)

”Yes, yes... now keep on our daily routine, Buddy.”

”Cuquawked~” (I know, but I’m still curious~)

”What now, Buddy?” Javier chuckled softly, his eyes still focused on the screen, his fingers moving swiftly across the keyboard.

”Cuquawked?” (What kind of help do they need from you, Master?)

Javier smiled, his gaze still locked on the floating data streams as he spoke.

”Myra and the other healers need proper data and calibration so they can treat her safely using the healing machines I built. According to the information passed to me, their healing skills aren’t working on her because her mana signature is foreign to our continent. The magic flowing through her body doesn’t resonate with our healing techniques.”

He paused, tapping a few more keys before continuing.

”That’s why I’m analyzing Celine’s healing magic and her mana signature right now. Once I have enough data, I can modify the mana crystal inside the machines. I’ll adjust them to adapt to Celine’s healing frequency and convert the energy so the equipment can treat someone from that continent without causing complications. Basically, I’m making a compatibility patch for the healing system.”

”Cuquawked~” (So you’re using one foreigner’s magic to heal another foreigner~ Smart~)

”Yeah. And once it works, we won’t just be able to heal this girl. We’ll be able to treat anyone from that continent who comes to Armand in the future. Well... as long as it’s not an enemy~”

Buddy let out a low, approving squawk, his beak curling into a smug smirk.

”Cuquawked~” (As expected of my Master~ Now, about that breakfast~)

Javier laughed, shaking his head as he continued typing.

”Later, Buddy. Let me finish this first.”

Javier pulled the cube from the magic device, snapping his fingers as his dimensional storage opened. He reached inside and withdrew a mana crystal, placing it onto the device before pressing enter. The magical core hummed to life, code running through the system as the mana crystal began to glow with soft, radiant energy.

Javier lifted the cube again, turning it over in his hand as he rubbed his chin thoughtfully, mumbling to himself.

”I wonder if I can learn Celine’s healing skill... or perhaps I should learn how to convert her mana signature into something more universal. If I can master that, it’ll give me a huge advantage over Julius when they start invading this continent. The more I understand their magic, the easier it’ll be to counter it.”

He kept inspecting the cube, his eyes narrowing with focus, before he noticed Buddy suddenly stop mid-stride.

”Buddy?”

Buddy turned sharply, his body going rigid for a split second before he began walking in the opposite direction, his steps quick and deliberate. Javier’s eyes widened when he spotted the reason.

”Ah... Father... with Giddie.”

He hissed in a low, urgent voice, leaning forward and patting Buddy’s wing rapidly.

”Damn... Buddy... fast! If Father notices us here, we’ll both be in huge trouble!”

Buddy picked up the pace instantly, his powerful legs launching them into a blur of motion as he squawked in a low, panicked voice.

”Cuquawked!” (I know! If Father sees me, he won’t let me go without a lecture!)

They skidded to a stop in a secluded backyard area, both letting out long, relieved exhales. Buddy narrowed his eyes at Javier, his beak curling into a teasing smirk.

”Cuquawked!” (Ooh~ The big guy is still scared of his father~)

Javier grinned, pointing a finger at Buddy. ”You’re the same. Big pekko, already got all your girls nesting, and yet you’re still scared of your father.”

Just as they were about to continue teasing each other, both of them suddenly paused and swallowed hard. A familiar, overwhelming presence settled beside them, and neither dared to move or speak.

A massive golden pekko stood beside them, his feathers gleaming like polished sunlight. Garius sat atop the majestic bird, his posture relaxed but commanding, a faint smirk on his lips.

”Cuquawked?” (Oh... look, Master. Your youngest son is here.)

Garius smirked, his voice calm and measured. ”Yes. Looks like your son is here too, Giddie~”

Javier sat up rigid, his back straight as a board, while Buddy stood at attention, his chest puffed out and his wings pressed tightly against his sides.

”So... Javier?”

Javier let out a nervous grin, his voice strained. ”Yes, Father?”

Garius tilted his head slightly. ”The request from the Armand Healing Facility. Is it done?”

Javier extended both hands, offering the mana crystal, his head nodding slightly as he averted Garius’s eyes.

”It’s done, Father. I was about to hand it over to the Armand officer.”

”Mm. Good.”

Garius casually waved his hand, and the mana crystal floated toward him in a swift, controlled motion. He caught it easily between his fingers, inspecting it briefly before tucking it away.

”I will handle this matter.”

He snapped his fingers, and the cube containing Celine’s healing skill appeared in front of him, floating gently in the air. Garius rubbed his chin, his eyes narrowing with interest as Giddie began walking forward with a low, majestic squawk, silently telling Buddy to follow.

Garius glanced at Javier, his smirk returning. ”This is the skill from your seventh wife?”

”Yes, Father.”

Garius’s right eye glowed faintly as he raised one arm. A surge of energy flowed through him, and in an instant, he replicated Celine’s healing skill, amplified tenfold. A soft, radiant light enveloped his hand, warm and pure.

”Hmm... Not bad. A good skill indeed.”
