My SSS-Rank Innate skill: Infinite Adaptation core

This time Velena answered herself. Since the question concerned the household and her duties, she felt it was her responsibility as a proud maid to respond.

”The princess has only one maid — me. Although the Demon Lord once ordered her to keep at least a hundred servants, she refused. She said she only needed me.”

Nova raised an eyebrow slightly.”Doesn’t that make it exhausting for you... taking care of the entire mansion by yourself?”

Velena shook her head calmly.

”No. I enjoy doing it. And it’s not as if I am an ordinary mortal. I can handle everything easily and very quickly.”

There was a quiet note of pride in her voice. Nova found it somewhat amusing — there was actually someone who took pride in such a simple thing.

Suddenly, Nyxara turned to Velena and asked,

”Velena, where has Father gone? I heard he left the Abyss a few months ago and still hasn’t returned.”

Velena looked at her and replied calmly,

”I don’t know the exact details, but I believe it is related to the Demon Generals Voren and Azren who served Demon Lord Raze. Your father is still searching for your uncle’s heart.”

”I see,” Nyxara said.

Nova flinched slightly when he heard the topic, though he quickly kept his expression under control. Nyxara continued without noticing his reaction.

”Well... I thought things would be more difficult with him present. Since he isn’t here, I can handle his family on my own. After that, I’ll leave the Abyss.”

Velena raised her eyebrows slightly.

”And where will you go then?”

Nyxara leaned back comfortably against the sofa, her seductive figure shifting slightly as she answered,

”To the human continent... for now.”

Although Nova appeared calm on the outside, he was having a hard time focusing — not because of the strength of the two women in front of him, but because of their breathtaking beauty and figures.

He still found it hard to believe just how naturally seductive demon women were. It wasn’t just ordinary beauty; there was something inherently alluring about them.

Fortunately, Nyxara had chosen not to mention the fact that the two of them had spent three full days having sex under the influence of the aphrodisiac.

By keeping that matter hidden from Velena, she had also given him a small sense of relief. At least for now, she couldn’t casually bring it up in front of the maid to threaten him.

Velena asked with clear concern in her voice, ”Why do you want to go to the human continent? Don’t you know things are quite unstable there because of the recent incident between your uncle’s generals and the humans?”

Nyxara answered simply,

”I’m not going there to cause trouble. I’ll use my human form, so no one will be able to recognize me. Besides... he has business there. And it’s not like I have anything better to do here.”

”Then just let him go,” Velena suggested. ”You don’t need to follow him.”

”No. He has to take responsibility for what he has done!!” The words came out of Nyxara’s mouth automatically. The moment she spoke them, she realized her slip.

Velena’s eyes narrowed slightly.

”What responsibility?”

Both Nyxara and Nova stiffened in panic. Nova muttered inwardly, This crazy woman...

{ Hehehe~ } Liya’s amused laughter immediately rang in his mind as she thoroughly enjoyed the situation.

Nyxara quickly tried to cover her mistake.

”I meant the responsibility of acting as my husband. He needs to see it through until the end... at least until Father meets him.

That’s why I have to follow him to the human continent — to make sure no one kills him, since he has enemies there.”

Velena did not look fully convinced. She suspected that something else must have happened between them. Still, she chose not to press further.

Although it hurt a little that Nyxara wanted to hide it from her, she did not want to force her princess to share something she clearly preferred to keep private.

After a moment, she spoke again.

”It’s alright. If you’ve already made up your mind... then I’ll simply go with you.”

Nyxara’s eyes widened in surprise.

”Why would you go there? You don’t have to do that.”

Yes, stop her! Nova thought frantically. You’re already a crazy woman who’s insisting on following me. I don’t need this weird sexy half-succubus coming along as well — that will only create more problems.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t say any of that out loud.

Velena shook her head, her expression still calm, though a faint shine appeared in her purple eyes.

”Please don’t stop me, Princess. Although I couldn’t follow you to the Fourth Level of the Abyss... at least allow me to come with you this time. I can’t help but worry if you go alone again.”

Nyxara looked at her for a moment. Then a soft smile bloomed on her enchanting face.

”Sigh... alright. You can come as well.”

Fuck! Nova cursed inwardly.

At that exact moment, a knock sounded on the mansion’s main door. Nova could clearly sense a powerful presence standing outside — most likely an Emperor Realm demon.

Seriously... after coming here, he was starting to see Emperor Realm powerhouses as common as grains of rice.

{ That’s because you accidentally ended up somewhere far beyond your current level of power, } Liya remarked dryly.

Nova understood what Liya meant, but there was nothing he could do about it. The only thing he could do was turn this situation into an opportunity to grow stronger — something he had already been doing.

His rate of growth was already astonishing and completely law-breaking by normal standards.

Velena stood up. She had already sensed who was standing outside the gates. With calm steps, she walked toward the entrance. The gates opened by themselves as she approached.

A tall, bulky demon with dark reddish-black skin stood outside. He had multiple eyes, two horns on his head, and no hair.

Velena spoke politely.

”To what do I owe the pleasure of General Lorcan’s visit?”

”Greetings, Lady Velena,” General Lorcan replied respectfully.

Even though he was one of the Demon Lord’s generals, he still treated her with proper courtesy. Velena held considerable influence in the Royal City.

As an Emperor Realm powerhouse, she did not need to serve as a maid, yet she chose to remain by Nyxara’s side. That alone earned her a certain level of respect.

Lorcan took out a scroll and extended it toward her. ”I have brought a message from Her Majesty, Queen Lily. With that, I shall take my leave.”

The moment he finished speaking, General Lorcan vanished from the entrance. Velena turned around and walked back inside with the scroll in her hands. The gates closed quietly behind her.

Nyxara watched her return and asked,

”What did he say?”

”He brought a letter from the Head Wife — the one you were expecting,” Velena answered as she handed the scroll to Nyxara and returned to her seat.

Nyxara opened the letter and began reading it. Almost immediately, a surge of killing intent erupted from her body. After finishing the letter, she spoke in a chilling tone.

”That bitch hasn’t changed at all... and her fox-like brain hasn’t dulled in the slightest.”

She turned her cold crimson eyes toward Nova and said,

”Read the letter. Then tell me whether you can do it or not.”

Nova didn’t yet understand what was written inside that could make her this angry and irritated. He picked up the letter and carefully read through it.

Although it did not clearly state his opponent’s exact strength, it claimed that the challenger would be someone of his own level. Nova certainly did not believe that for a second.

After reading it, he passed the letter to Velena, who seemed to want to see it as well. Then he looked back at Nyxara and answered calmly,

”I’ll do it.”

This was a good opportunity for him to test his strength against a living opponent. Although he still didn’t know who he would be facing, he was expecting at least a peak King Realm expert.

Nyxara looked at him seriously.

”Are you sure? It could be dangerous for you.”

After reading the letter, Velena also nodded slightly, clearly agreeing with her concern. ”It’s alright. I can handle it,” Nova replied. Then he looked directly at Nyxara and added,

”Although... I want something in return.”

The moment Nyxara saw the look in his eyes, a deep redness spread across her cheeks. The change did not go unnoticed by Velena.

Nyxara immediately shouted,

”Don’t even think about it!”

”Wha—! Wait... it’s not what you’re thinking!”

Nova immediately realized what she had assumed and quickly corrected her. ”I just want a powerful communication stone — one that can help me contact a few of my friends on the human continent.”
