My Goblin System : Levelling up with my SSS Class Devouring skill

Chapter 592: Chapter 592

Half-powered in terms of total magnitude.

One hundred percent in terms of control and precision.

Satou felt the change.

[COMBAT TRANSCENDENCE — LEGENDARY]

His analysis ran in real time.

Full deployment. Not hiding anything. Every movement will be at maximum precision, every ability applied at maximum output, every displacement at maximum speed. The forcefield is at full density. The temporal compression around him is at maximum radius. The fight just changed.

He moved anyway.

[DRAGONFIRE MANIPULATION — ADVANCED + SHADOW ABSOLUTE MOVEMENT]

The white-hot dragonfire — not the orange-red of normal flames but the plasma-temperature white-blue that had scored Ancient God flesh — erupted from his form as he moved, not aimed at Chronus but at the space around Chronus, forcing the Tenth Seat to occupy specific positions to avoid an environment that the temporal compression field couldn’t adequately compensate for.

Chronus moved through the dragonfire zones with the specific efficiency of someone who had seen this type of area-denial approach before and had the temporal perception to navigate it before the fire fully occupied its target space.

He countered from inside the movement.

What he deployed was not aging. Not compression. Not displacement.

He applied temporal reversion to the space around Satou — not to Satou himself, which his power couldn’t touch, but to the physical environment Satou was occupying. The ground beneath Satou’s feet reverted three months — to the state it had been in before the working had begun altering it, before the anchor structures had been built, before Chronus had arrived and started shaping this territory toward his purpose.

The state it had been in three months ago was under dense undergrowth.

Dense undergrowth that the working had cleared for the staging ground now returned, instantaneously, into the space Satou was moving through.

Not undergrowth at normal density. Three months of temporal accumulation compressed into instant appearance — three months of growth happening at once, roots erupting from the ground, branches snapping into position, the specific sudden density of jungle appearing in the clearing’s interior.

Satou pushed through it.

[EARTH MANIPULATION + VOID FANG]

He drove the ground flat as he moved — the earth manipulation reshaping what had appeared around him while Void Fang ate the vegetation that attempted to slow him, existence erasure requiring no force against organic matter, simply removing it from the causal chain.

Three seconds to navigate.

Chronus used three seconds.

The three-second window produced a temporal field compression centered on Satou’s estimated exit position from the undergrowth — not where Satou was, where he would be. Predictive placement.

Satou emerged from the undergrowth.

Into a compressed field.

The field couldn’t affect him. But the force it created from the density displacement had physical consequence — the air pressure differential of a temporal density spike registering as concussive force against anything physical in the space.

Satou was physical.

He was moved two feet.

Two feet wasn’t significant to Satou. Two feet at the beginning of a reach that was already committed meant the reach found Chronus’s position marginally better than the original trajectory had suggested — the displacement moving Satou toward rather than away.

His claws caught Chronus’s shoulder.

Void Fang ate a section of fabric and the skin beneath it.

Not devastating. Not fight-ending. But real, physical, accumulating.

Chronus looked at the mark.

”You adapted immediately to the environmental reversion,” he said.

”Yes,” Satou said.

”Most opponents take three to five seconds to understand what’s happening,” Chronus said. ”You adapted in under one.”

”I’ve been in worse environments than sudden undergrowth,” Satou said.

”I know,” Chronus said. ”I’ve read Richard’s account of your settlement’s siege.” He displaced away. ”Adjust your expectations. Everything I do from this point will be at full output.”

”Good,” Satou said. ”Mine was already.”

—----

The forcefield was the primary obstacle.

Satou had identified it early — the temporal compression barrier maintaining itself passively around Chronus, reducing the velocity of everything approaching him above a specific threshold. Against his initial attack it had reduced full-force output to something the Tenth Seat’s reflexes could process. Against subsequent strikes it had absorbed the leading edge of every committed approach.

He’d gotten partial hits. Void Fang had made contact multiple times. The shoulder in Chapter one, the ribcage in Chapter six, the shoulder again in the current phase. All real. None decisive.

The barrier was why.

Seraphina’s reality alteration could disrupt it — the technique she’d demonstrated in the fight’s second phase, altering the barrier’s fundamental definition and creating the one-second window where its coherence failed. But Seraphina was frozen with the rest of the world, the temporal halt holding everything except Satou, and the barrier was currently at full density with nothing to disrupt it.

He needed a different approach.

[ABSOLUTE SEVERANCE — CONCEPTUAL APPLICATION]

Absolute Severance cut connections. Physical connections. Magical connections. Conceptual connections — the links between what a thing was and what it was connected to. He’d used it against the mechanism’s anchor compensation network. He’d used it to sever threads of Chronus’s attention during the pre-fight exchange.

The barrier was connected to Chronus’s temporal power in a specific way — it was sustained by his ongoing application of temporal compression maintained as a passive field. The connection between the barrier and its power source was a conceptual link — not physical, not purely magical, but the specific relationship between a maintained ability and the will that maintained it.

He reached for that connection.

[ABSOLUTE SEVERANCE]

The cut was invisible. It operated at the conceptual level — the level below physical reality, the level where connections existed as relationships rather than as structures. He found the link between the barrier’s self-sustaining compression loop and the temporal power threading through Chronus from his continuous application, and he severed it.

Not the barrier itself. Not Chronus’s power. The connection between them.

The barrier wobbled.

Not collapsed — wobbled. One second of reduced coherence, the specific visual artifact of a maintained field whose power connection had been briefly interrupted, fighting to re-establish based on whatever reserve structure Chronus had built into the design.

One second.
