Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 39: Chapter 33: The Abnormally Brave Isaac

Gaia looked at Remington coldly, his eyes filled with disappointment.

He had known for a long time that his second son wanted to fight for the inheritance. After all, the men under Remington’s command had been given to him by Gaia; nothing they did could be hidden from him.

At first, Gaia had been pleased. His son wasn’t one to accept fate and wouldn’t give up just because his rival was too strong. As long as he maintained that spirit, even if Remington failed to seize the inheritance from Caesar, his achievements would be no less significant.

The Solomon Clan was supposed to maintain that very spirit!

That was how the Solomon Clan had managed to rise from mere commoners to the rank of Viscount!

However, his pleasure didn’t last long. Faced with Caesar’s increasingly outstanding performance, Remington slowly buckled under the pressure. He started making petty moves and resorting to underhanded tactics.

At first, it was just instigating conflict between Caesar and his subordinates. Later, he began to frame Caesar, and even planned to ruin the relationship between Caesar and his wife!

His methods grew more and more despicable!

Of course, up to that point, Gaia was only slightly disappointed. Although the methods were unsavory and not to his liking, Gaia had to admit that such tactics were indispensable in political struggles. You might not use them, but you had to know how.

So, at that time, Remington still had a chance. Until...

Until he concealed the news of the goblin raid in the domain, planning to use the goblins to incite an unprecedented internal conflict just to cause trouble for Caesar, who was temporarily managing the domain!

This tactic of bringing disaster upon his own people crossed Gaia’s bottom line. Not to mention, in the process, he hadn’t even given a second thought to his frail third brother...

This made Gaia completely lose faith in Remington.

However, after learning that Isaac was unharmed and had even resolved the goblin situation, Gaia did not step in to stop it. Instead, he continued to observe Remington. He wanted to see just how far his second son would go. The result was obvious.

”From this day forward, you are stripped of the Solomon name! After the Black Orc calamity, you will leave this domain!”

Gaia’s words made everyone’s expression change drastically, including Isaac’s. The three of them were just about to speak when Gaia’s glare swept over them. Caesar and Cheryl immediately shrank back, standing there like timid quails. Only Isaac stepped forward, because when facing him, Gaia subconsciously reined in his aura.

”Father, Second Brother was just momentarily confused. He knows he was wrong. Please forgive him this time!” After speaking, Isaac immediately shot Remington a look, signaling for him to quickly admit his mistake.

In this era, being cast out from the family was no small matter. It meant that unless Remington became one of the Empire’s top-tier powerhouses in the future, he would never be able to restore his status as nobility!

It would completely seal off all other paths for advancement!

But in the face of the look Isaac threw his way, Remington did not respond. He just silently lowered his head. He would own up to what he had done.

’Wrong is wrong.’

”Hmph.” Gaia snorted, but his stern expression softened somewhat. Apparently, he was rather pleased that Remington hadn’t begged him for forgiveness.

Gaia glanced at the resolute look on Isaac’s face, then turned to Remington and said, ”Since your younger brother has pleaded for you, I will spare you this time. The matter of your disownment will be suspended. If you perform exceptionally in the war against the Black Orcs this winter, you will not be cast out. However, all your territories will be confiscated. Any objections?”

”None, thank you, Father! I will not fail to live up to your expectations!” Remington immediately raised his head and said with a solemn expression.

”Hmph. Thank Isaac. Thank him for not being as heartless as you!” Although he had reduced Remington’s punishment, it was clear that Gaia was currently dissatisfied with everything about Remington.

Seeing this, Isaac and his two siblings exchanged a look, all sighing in relief.

Meanwhile, seeing the relationship between the four siblings ease up a bit, the corners of Gaia’s mouth couldn’t help but curve slightly upward. However, he quickly suppressed it, not letting anyone notice.

Waving his hand and signaling for Remington to get to the side and stand properly, he looked at Caesar and said in a low voice, ”Tell me about the Black Orcs’ movements during this time.”

”Yes, sir!” At the mention of this, Caesar’s expression also grew serious. He stepped forward and lightly swiped his right hand across his waist. Streams of multi-colored Magic Power flowed out from Caesar’s waist, forming a three-dimensional sand table in front of everyone.

Looking at the lifelike magic sand table before him, Isaac’s eyebrows rose slightly. ’This thing is quite High Level. It even zooms in when you focus on it, making it feel like you’re right there.’

’A true Divine Artifact of War!’

’I wonder what the market price is...’

”Currently, there are no signs of the Black Orcs mobilizing, but according to our investigation, it seems they’re planning something big this year. They’ve already gathered a force of over ten thousand! This far exceeds the scale of any autumn raid in recorded history!” The moment Caesar said this, everyone’s expression instantly turned grim.

A war involving over ten thousand...

Even in this Extraordinary era of Magic, it was extremely rare.

Even nations rarely maintained such a massive army, because the minimum standard for a regular legion was the Quasi-Knight rank. A few of the stricter ones even required the rank of Knight to join.

And the Black Orc combat units were almost all at the Quasi-Knight level, a near-inhuman rank. Over ten thousand Quasi-Knights...

This military strength far surpassed the Thousand Knight Order of Solomon’s Domain...

”Have they given birth to a King?!” Gaia’s brows furrowed as he stared at the sand table, voicing his question.

Caesar shook his head. ”According to the accurate intelligence we’ve received so far, no. They have gathered for another reason, but we are still investigating the specifics.”
