Master of Nine Stars

”Heh,” Gao Lingwei chuckled softly before her smile faded slightly. ”Let’s teach it the Heaven-piercing Halberd. That’s what we’re best at, and it’s the best we can give it.

If all goes according to plan, we’ll be the ones with it for its entire life.

We could find a master to teach it the axe or the sword, but we’ll be traveling all over later on. The Snow General Candle would inevitably be separated from its master.”

”Okay, okay. You’re the boss.”

”First, we need to teach the Snow General Candle human language. Communication is the foundation for everything,” Gao Lingwei said casually. ”I’ll look up how to train a baby Soul Pet online while we’re eating later.”

Rong Taotao said, ”We can use this chance to teach the Cloud Dog, too. By the way, how did Hu Bugui learn to understand human language?”

Gao Lingwei shook her head. ”I never intentionally taught it. We just spent a lot of time together, and it gradually started to understand on its own.”

”Oh, is that it? So, a more hands-off approach... Huh?” Rong Taotao trailed off, suddenly freezing mid-sentence.

In that same moment, Gao Lingwei also felt the fluctuation coming from within Rong Taotao.

’Advanced! Snow Realm Soul Beast: Snow General Candle, Excellent Level!’

’Holy cow. I mean, just, holy cow!’

’As a Cloud Peak Soul Beast, the Cloud Dog can’t fully enjoy the benefits of the Lotus Petal. But with the Snow General Candle being a Snow Realm Soul Beast, getting help from a Supreme Treasure of the same Attribute like the Lotus Petal... is it about to just skyrocket?’

Of course, even though the Snow General Candle was in its infant form, Rong Taotao had no idea how long it had actually been in this world.

He scratched his head and looked at Gao Lingwei beside him. ”Snow Realm Soul Beasts really have it made, soaking in the Lotus Petal. It leveled up just like that!”

Gao Lingwei nodded. ”Professor Wang’s Snow General Candle also said that their kind grows very quickly. It can’t compare to the growth speed of pure Beast-type Soul Beasts, but it’s much, much faster than Humanoid Soul Beasts.”

Overjoyed, Rong Taotao said, ”I guess it’s because it’s half-human, half-ghost, and gets the perks from both sides.”

Gao Lingwei: ”Hmm?”

Rong Taotao chuckled. ”Half-human, because it has the intelligence of a Humanoid Soul Beast and can learn any Soul Skill. Half-ghost, because it has the growth speed of a Beast-type Soul Beast?”

Gao Lingwei: ”...”

Rong Taotao took Gao Lingwei’s cool, soft hand. His face was full of delight as he gently squeezed her fingertips. ”This means we’ll have to work even harder. It won’t be long before this little fatty catches up to us.

My own body is nourished by the Lotus Petal, but if this thing gets to soak in it every day... that’s just living the dream.”

”Mm,” Gao Lingwei said softly. ”But I might be very strict when I train it. When that happens, you’d better not get soft-hearted.”

Rong Taotao muttered under his breath, ”Strict mom, loving dad. Not bad, not bad. Saves me from having to be the bad guy.”

”Get lost.” A rare blush touched Gao Lingwei’s cheeks, and she scoffed playfully at him.

Rong Taotao pursed his lips.

’Heh. Women.’

Recommending a book by my friend, Kan Meng: *Part-Time God in the Myriad Heavens*. If you’re interested, please go check it out!

The first month of the new book is finally over! I fulfilled my promise and managed to pull it off: 337,000 characters in 30 days, for an average of over 10,000 characters updated daily.

My writing ability is limited; I rely entirely on attitude and brute-forcing it with time. It takes me over 3 hours to write a single Chapter. It’s genuinely a full day of writing, every single day. It’s damn near killing me, and I’m about to go braindead from all the writing. I hope you all are having a great time reading it, though.

I’m going to slow down a bit and return to my normal schedule of two updates a day. I’ll write a bit more in each Chapter, so 7,000-8,000 characters daily isn’t that much of a drop. One update at 12 PM and one at 8 PM.

I’ll sort out my ideas and try to make the Outer League arc as exciting as possible. In a few days, I also have to get to the bonus Chapters for the Alliance Leaders that I owe.
