Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 131: Chapter 123: First Appearance of a Divine Ability

In truth, Tang Mo had practically read Xiao Tao’s books to tatters. She could recall every minute detail of every image from memory.

She could flip to any page and instantly reconstruct the original fragmented image in her mind.

Once she was certain she had thoroughly absorbed all the content from the books, Tang Mo finally took out the paintings she had copied from the wall.

Tang Mo had received three paintings from the Sect Leader. She was now certain about two of them: one depicted how to use spiritual power to heal others, and the other showed how to materialize spiritual power for physical attacks.

She was almost positive the third painting was also related to the application of spiritual power, but since she had never seen the Sect Leader use it, she didn’t know its specific function.

Since she didn’t know which painting corresponded to which ability, Tang Mo simply chose one at random and carefully stored the other two back in her personal Space.

These paintings were arguably her most prized possessions, even more valuable to her than the Spiritual Flower.

In fact, Tang Mo had already committed the painting she was holding to memory.

Still, just to be safe, she reviewed it one more time in her mind. Once she was sure her memory was flawless, she began to guide her spiritual power, letting it trace the pattern she held in her thoughts.

The pattern in her mind was both formless and tangible.

It was like a transparent canvas. With her consciousness as the brush and her spiritual power as the ink, Tang Mo sketched out the entire pattern, bit by bit.

Tang Mo’s control over her spiritual power was already exceptionally fine. She knew all too well that when spiritual power flowed normally through the body’s meridians and out into the world, it couldn’t heal others or materialize into a physical attack.

’So how exactly does this diagram allow one’s spiritual power to extend outside the body in a completely different manner?’

Tang Mo focused all her attention on the spiritual power that was forming the pattern within her mind.

She could clearly feel that as the thread-like strands of spiritual power gradually formed the image, the spiritual power itself began to glow brighter at a visible rate.

Following the path in the image to circulate her spiritual power could accelerate its cultivation speed.

This was the diagram’s first surprise for Tang Mo!

It was like a cultivation technique for spiritual power. If all other Spiritual Ability Users cultivated by circulating their spiritual power through their bodies according to their own intuitive methods, then this diagram provided a fixed, optimized route that was far more effective than simply circulating it along the body’s meridians.

As Tang Mo reveled in the joy of her rapidly increasing spiritual power, the pattern was on the verge of completion.

Tang Mo held her breath, not daring to let her focus waver for even a moment.

She had no idea what kind of surprise—or shock—this pattern, drawn with her spiritual power, would bring.

To be on the safe side, Tang Mo used only a third of her total spiritual power to form the pattern.

She could have used all of her spiritual power to complete it, but she chose not to.

When the final stroke of spiritual power fell into place, nothing extraordinary happened as she’d imagined. The massive, brightly glowing white pattern simply floated in her mind.

’Huh? What’s going on?’

’Is that it?’

Watching the pattern float there, Tang Mo was completely baffled.

’This can’t be right. The pattern formed successfully, but it’s useless if it just stays in my mind.’

Tang Mo tried to manipulate the luminous diagram. It moved!

Just as she willed, the pattern constructed from her spiritual power moved about at her command.

Remembering that the spiritual power had to extend outside her body to be used, Tang Mo had a flash of inspiration. She guided the luminous spiritual diagram to circulate through her meridians, just as she would with threads of spiritual power.

The luminous diagram was much larger than the thread-like strands of spiritual power, and its circulation speed was also far slower.

For her first attempt, Tang Mo prioritized stability over speed.

When the pattern reached the ends of her meridians, Tang Mo suddenly discovered it had become scalding hot and malleable.

She tried to knead the mass of spiritual power together. Sure enough, the luminous diagram was like modeling clay, allowing her to shape it however she pleased.

Tang Mo understood at once. This was it—the materialization of spiritual power, the same ability the Sect Leader had used for his final strike before he died.

Mimicking the Wind Blades the Sect Leader had created, Tang Mo condensed her own malleable mass of spiritual power into two blades.

Since this luminous diagram was formed with only a third of her spiritual power, it was just enough to create two moderately-sized Wind Blades.

The moment her Wind Blades shot forth, Tang Mo knew she had succeeded!

They didn’t travel far, nor were they very accurate.

But this was her very first attempt. Now that she understood the principle behind the diagram, everything else would be simple.

So, the secret of the diagram was to first form it in her mind, then circulate that spiritual pattern through her meridians instead of the usual thread-like energy, and only then extend it outside her body.

At the very ends of the meridians, the power contained within the pattern would be unleashed, allowing it to be transformed.

If Tang Mo wasn’t mistaken, the other two diagrams probably worked the same way.

Using all her spiritual power to form the pattern, Tang Mo could probably create six spiritual Wind Blades.

These six spiritual Wind Blades would undoubtedly give her a significant offensive advantage. As for their speed and accuracy, those could be honed with constant practice.

She retracted the Wind Blades, then re-formed them several more times, growing more proficient with each repetition.

Completely satisfied, she put everything away. By now, it was late into the night. Tang Mo finished tidying up and lay down to sleep.

「The next day.」

Tang Mo resumed her solitary journey through the desert.

Although she still had no sense of direction, Tang Mo now had a new task as she walked: to practice the accuracy, speed, and range of her Wind Blades.

The Wind Blade was only one of many possible transformations, but Tang Mo understood the principle of not biting off more than she could chew.

She would first master the use of the six Wind Blades before moving on to other forms, ensuring that every attack could unleash its maximum power.

Time flew by as she traveled, the six Wind Blades constantly circling around her.

The desert environment remained as harsh as ever, but with food, water, and a task to focus on, Tang Mo’s mood had relaxed considerably.

Just by mastering one method of spiritual power transformation, this trip into the desert had already been worthwhile.
